Join Our Off-Grid Mountain Homestead for a Wild & Beautiful Cultural Exchange

High in the mountains near Kamloops, BC, our off-grid homestead is more than a place to grow food — it’s a place to grow yourself. If you’re curious, grounded, and open-minded, you may find this is exactly the kind of experience you didn’t even know you needed.

We’re not just looking for help — we’re looking for connection. A spark. A rhythm. Someone whose energy fits what we’ve built here: something honest, raw, physical, and deeply rewarding.

    Who We Are

We’re Rob and Heather — a couple with roots in nature, passion for the body, and a love for making people feel at home in their skin. Our teens (15–18) are part of our off-grid life too, homeschooled and independent. Our homestead is solar-powered, surrounded by untouched wilderness, and full of movement, life, and bold energy.

We value honesty, laughter, sensuality, and shared experience. If you’re intuitive and aware, you’ll pick up on that fast. And if you’re the kind of person who walks into a space and feels it — who knows how to be still or playful depending on the moment — we already like you.

    What We Offer

    • A beautiful, off-grid, body-aware space to unplug, learn, and be
    • Shared meals, deep conversation, and space to explore who you are
    • Hands-on knowledge in sustainable living, food systems, land care, and more
    • The kind of connection that doesn’t happen often — but when it does, it’s unforgettable

    This Summer’s Projects & Passions:

    • Garden & Orchard
Dig into the earth with us — learn hands-on food growing, composting, and soil-building with intention.

    • Greenhouse & Seed
Propagate. Cultivate. Nourish. Help us sustain year-round growing with care and precision.

    • Animal Care
Move alongside horses, pigs, chickens, and dogs — our extended family — and support their gentle, natural routines.

    • Food Preservation & Traditional Cooking
Join us in the kitchen to dehydrate, ferment, and cook with what the land provides — real food, full of life.

    • Forest Trails & Land Connection
Help us shape new walking paths through wild crown land, learning about wildfire safety, ecology, and presence in nature.

    • Other Homestead Projects
There’s always something unexpected here — spontaneous builds, deep talks under the stars, barefoot sprints to beat the storm. Too many things to name. Too much fun to explain.

    What We Ask

    • Bring only fragrance-free, biodegradable, septic-safe products
    • We cannot host couples or pets
    • You must hold a valid work visa if coming from outside Canada
    • Canadians must provide a recent RCMP background check
    • Be grounded, kind, and adaptable — this is rural, wild, and off-grid

    Something to Know

This place has a rhythm — and it doesn’t always stick to the plan. Some days are full of laughter and dirt under the nails. Some nights are full of slow conversation and long glances. We don’t force anything — but we don’t shy away from it either.

We believe connection can be physical, emotional, or somewhere in between. And when it’s real, it’s worth leaning into.

If you’re the right man… or the right woman… you’ll feel it.

If you’re looking for more than just a work-trade — if you want to learn, grow, and maybe even get a little wild with people who truly see you — we’d love to hear from you.

Living alongside our family is not just an experience — it’s full immersion into a way of life that transforms both heart and mind.

Workawayers leave with more than memories; they leave with practical, hard-earned knowledge in areas like forest stewardship, regenerative gardening, traditional cooking, creative building, and natural animal care — skills that will serve them for a lifetime, wherever their path may lead.

But beyond the skills, there is something far more meaningful:
A true exchange of ideas, stories, and perspectives, where every person contributes, every voice matters, and everyone grows together. Whether it’s finding confidence in something new, refining a passion you already carry, or simply experiencing the rhythm of off-grid family life, we are dedicated to creating an environment that nurtures both personal discovery and collective connection.

This is not just learning — it’s transformation, shared purpose, and lasting impact.

We welcome a wide variety of skills, and there’s always something to learn, teach, and create together. Depending on your knowledge, experience, or interests, you can take part in spring and summer garden tasks, helping with homeschool learning by teaching school subjects or life skills, cooking, canning and food preservation in the fall, or hands-on creative projects like natural material crafting, outdoor structure maintenance, fence care, wood finishing, and resource preparation.

If you have a particular skill set, passion, or creative interest, we’re happy to explore ways to incorporate it into a meaningful exchange. Whether it’s something you already love to do or something new you’d like to learn and practice, we can collaborate to design an experience that keeps you engaged, inspired, and gaining skills you can take with you anywhere.

A Rare Invitation: Experience Off-Grid Wilderness Living on a Private 160-Acre Mountain Homestead

This is not just another listing.
This is a personal invitation to step into a life that few will ever witness — and even fewer will ever truly live.

High in the mountains of British Columbia, surrounded by unspoiled wilderness and powered by self-sufficiency and resilience, our private off-grid homestead offers something truly rare: the chance to disconnect from the noise of the world and reconnect with purpose, nature, and yourself.

We don’t offer tourist stops or predictable routines.
We offer challenge, discovery, and the kind of adventure that will stay with you long after you leave.

160 Acres of Untouched Wilderness — Your Private Playground

Our homestead sits on 160 acres of private mountain wilderness, surrounded by endless crown land that stretches beyond the horizon.
We’ve built and maintained over 6 kilometers of finished trails, with another 5 kilometers in development — winding through towering forests, open meadows, and rocky ridgelines. These trails are yours to explore: hike them, run them, bike them in the summer, and snowshoe or cross-country ski them in the winter.

Just minutes away, crystal-clear alpine lakes offer peace, reflection, and fishing. Harper Mountain Ski Hill is a short 25-minute drive, offering intimate skiing and snowshoeing experiences. For those seeking world-class mountain adventure, Sun Peaks Resort — Canada’s second-largest mountain resort — is just 45 minutes from our door, with miles of hiking, biking, and endless alpine views.

And when you’re ready to dip back into small-town life, Kamloops and the charming community of Chase are both only 40 minutes away, offering farmers’ markets, cozy cafés, live music, and the warmth of the local community.

Wildlife Few Will Ever See — But You Might

The wilderness here is alive. Quiet. Elusive. Ancient.

You may cross paths with moose grazing along the edges of the forest, or catch glimpses of deer moving through sunlit clearings. Foxes and coyotes travel the same trails you will walk, and bears roam this land as they have for generations.

But there are rarer treasures here — fleeting moments granted only to the patient and fortunate:
    • Lynx and cougars, slipping silently through the shadows.
    • Bobcats, small and fierce, vanishing as quickly as they appear.
    • The rarest of all — the chance to see a wolverine, wild and powerful, a living ghost of the forest.
    • Sandhill cranes, their calls echoing across the valley during spring and fall migrations.
    • Badgers, living quietly beneath the earth, rarely showing themselves.

    And at night…
On clear, windless nights beneath a sky filled with stars, you’ll hear something few people on Earth will ever experience:
Wolves howling deep from within the forest, answered by the high, playful yipping of coyotes — and sometimes, even our own dogs join the chorus.
It’s a moment that feels otherworldly, ancient, and deeply moving… a reminder that here, you are part of something far bigger than yourself

This Is Not a Visit. This Is a Transformation.

Come if you have a strong work ethic and strong character.
Come if you are ready to face challenges, learn new tasks, and embrace adventures unlike anything else in the world.
Come if you are willing to contribute, think creatively, get your hands dirty, and open your heart to something raw, real, and lasting.
Come if you are ready to become part of something bigger than yourself — something wild and beautiful that will forever leave its mark on your soul.

This isn’t a place you simply visit.
This is a place that becomes part of you.
