I saw his eyes lighting up every time you two were talking and discussing or playing card games. You inspired me with the way you held Ramadan with such a beautiful dedication, took care of your health and studied with a strong motivation whenever you had free time. Your reassuring anti drama smile always made me feel like everything is possible and easy. You definitely made my family a little happier, my home a little prettier, my cat a little snugglier and my stomach a little fatter 😂 I will never forget your delicious food!

Ruben stayed for almost three months and helped me with literally everything! He needs a good plan and good communication wich I cannot offer but he still managed to stay flexible and follow the plan changes. I really appreciate it because I know how tiring it can be to always be on the jump for the next spontaneous task or to be mentally prepared
… read more for a task and have it cancelled. Even as an introvert he managed to always help me find solutions and solve problems in communication and helping me find solutions when I had problems with people around me. (My communication skills are in development) He is a very attentive listener who cares a lot. He is a very calm and patient character with a sensitive soul and a big heart especially for animals. He mostly helped me around the house. Cleaning, decluttering, taking care of the cat, cooking, checking the Mailbox, grocery shopping, keeping me company when I visited my sick father, helping him in whatever he needed and playing card games with everyone (wich was such a huge energy lifting thing) were part of his work in my life. I honestly don’t know how I would have been able to handle my situation with my overwhelming chaotic home and taking care of my sick father without Ruben. I would have been even more lost. He handled my chaos in my home and in my head really calmly. Once I had a second Workawayer over for a bigger decluttering project and Ruben helped me guiding the new Workawayer and he also helped me by taking leadership when I didn’t know what should be done next and how to make things work.
I learned to improve my communication skills so I can clearly communicate what I need wich I need to keep working on.
I also discovered that even though Ruben is an introvert, he does enjoy company a lot when the ice is broken and to brake the ice I just needed to see behind his careful and quiet side is a very quirky, funny, kind, sensitive and positive side that just needs to be appreciated. I wish I could have had more time to be there and to do more creative activities between the tasks because I really enjoyed watching him improve his drawing skills. It was so much fun when we finally had some time for creativity after a long day. I hope we can find some time for a drawing session via video chat once in a while!

Carl slept daily in my bed and he let me pet him every day, a lovely Cat.
My duties were Cleaning the House, feeding the Cat, buy groceries and assisting in the household where ever help was needed.

Not far away from the house is a forest, I spent a lot of my time there. The Bus Stop is very close to the house but anyway it was quiet inside.

If this doesn't bother you and you are willing to get a little out of your comfort zone (surely this is what workaway is all about?) then the rewards of working with Theresia and getting to know her family are so worth it! I have done a lot of different workaway placements in my life but this was certainly one of the best. If I am ever in Germany again I will be heading straight for Theresia's place again! She has etched herself onto my heart forever...❤️
