Beschreibung
Hello! My name is Filippo, born and raised in Italy but permanently moved to Portugal at the end of 2019. Here, together with a small group of people, we're developing a small quinta/azienda agricola with the aim of creating a dreamy place where we can grow our own food, cultivate vineyards and make the most out of a small piece of land.
I personally have a classic education in agriculture, with a strong focus on viticulture and oenology. I had the opportunity to learn, study and work in different parts of the world before jumping on this lifelong adventure in Portugal. Here our time is divided between the development of our quinta, farming additional acres of leased vineyards and renovating the wine cellar (located 10 minutes drive from our place).
The farm consist of a gentle, lush hill of around 3 Ha. Here we currently have some new planted vineyards, veggie gardens, a forest (mostly pines) and some spaces left completely untouched, where native vegetation can thrive. We're immersed in the quiet of the countryside but still close enough to easily access markets, pharmacy and gas stations. The small town of Aljezur is just 5 minutes drive from our place and can be reached by bicycle or even by foot (around 25 minutes).
We take care of our little piece of land with all the care, knowledge and love. We integrate principles of permaculture with old farming practices, we experiment a lot and we're on the quest to reach the perfect balance where inputs are minimal and we can provide for most of the things we need. We have a lot of experience in farming vineyards and consider this our main drive, we make wine in a small cellar by the ocean and work mostly with traditional grapes native to this region.
We have ben taking volunteers for several years now and we love to have new, motivated individuals that want to contribute to the project and learn about a lifestyle more connected to nature. Help includes small DIY projects (painting, basci carpentry and building), gardening and general land maintenance plus all the things connected with taking care of a small piece of land.
If you're curious and interested in our small natural winemaking operation we'll be more than happy to show you how we work. We personally cultivate all our grapes and our wines are 100% handmade, they really express the raw energy of this region.

We will be sharing good times on the land plus local insights on the region and how to best explore it. There is always a lot to do, share and learn from each other. We speak Italian, French, English, Portuguese and Spanish. We have ben running this place for a few years and we're always happy to share our view and little insights on how things work on our land.

Arbeit
I ask travelers to contribute with different tasks, depending on the season and skills. There will be help in the veggie garden, small building projects and landscaping. Based on your skills and priority of things that need to be done we will find a solution that is best for you and our team.

Unterkunft
Accommodation may vary depending on the time of the year.
- In the spring/summer/early fall months it consists in a spacious bell tent on a wooden platform. It is suitable to groups of up to 3 friends or couples. In addition there’s another 3 people camping tent that is usually occupied by a single person or a couple. The space also includes an outside shower, compost toilet and outside kitchen with gas stoves. You will find all you need for a comfortable stay. There will be a maximum of 3-4 people sharing the whole place, lots of room for everybody.
- In the late fall/winter months volunteers will have access to a cozy farmhouse on the land, with kitchen, bathroom and hot showers. People that may come during this period are usually asked to stay for a minimum of 2-3 weeks as we priorities longer stays during the winter.
If you have a van or personal tent you can also choose to set it up and access kitchen and bathroom.
You will have access to the veg garden, in addition we'll provide a run of groceries per week including pasta, rice eggs and other basic supplies (no meat, cheese, fish). For anything other than this we will be happy to suggest local markets to source the best products for yourself.
Was noch ...
There is so much to do on your time off. From surfing or chilling on one of the several amazing beaches around the area. You can explore the countryside and its small villages, check out local pottery shops and just have a good time. I can sometimes provide a bicycle to go to town but a car or some basic transportation is needed to fully enjoy the area.

I currently don't have WiFi that can reach the volunteer's area so you will need to take care of it yourself. There is also a great cafe/coworking space just few minutes from the farm that offer some great coffee and vegetarian/vegan meals.

You are more than welcome to stay in your own van and have access to the facilities. We can discuss the use of electricity and water based on your personal needs

It was a pleasure !
Not only is Filippo one of the friendliest and down to earth human I ever met, but he also provides an above average accomodation for workawayers (bed, warm shower, toilet, basic food and veggies from garden and he even went shopping especially for me).
And (I cannot not mention it) he has the cutest dog, lennox.
