Beschreibung
We are a couple (61yo) who have traveled to (20 countries - too many to list here) , lived and worked for years in other places of the world (East Germany , Australia, Belgium, New Zealand) . Lola lived in a tiny shack in the Australian bush where she gave birth to her kids. Rob lived in a tiny house in the forests of East Germany.
Lola now an end of life-worker and therapist, but knows how to work on the land , build her own dwelling and fix cars. Rob an inventor, highly creative and always a project on the way.
We enjoy walks and bike rides, simple pleasures, boardgames but also camping and exploring new places.
We share our life with Yara, our little dog and anyone who happens to land at our place.
We live at the canal of a small village - Oude Tonge - on the island of Goeree Overflakkee . De Grevelingen Lake 10 min walk away. Two large predator birds have their breeding grounds in the area (Peregrine Falcon and Sea Eagle), the Pink Flamingo’s come here every year, whilst the city isnt too far away either.

Lola has been a WWOOF host for 22 years (In Australia ) and so very much used to sharing life with others. Still in touch with many - as it was a good experience for all of us.

In our small village there a couple of cafe’s/pubs where one can hang out. One in particular (owned by younger people) is a pub where there are activities on a regular basis and live music . The island offers much nature, walks, birdlife, cycle options and of course one of the seven wonders of the world is nearby : the Delta works
Rotterdam is only a 30 min bus ride away. And the possibilities there are endless of course.

Rob is an inventor and technical engineer for whom thinking outside the box is a permanent way of being. He also has an endless interest in history , other cultures and people .
Lola’s interest is people and alternative living and travelling.
Both Rob and Lola have taken many risks in life AND have children who adore them (so can’t have done too bad 😁)

Arbeit
Lola spends a few months a year in Australia , back with her kids there. Rob and Yara hold the fort. But Rob needs to go to work and Yara cannot join him there. We are looking for someone who will feed Yara in the morning, go for walks with her three times a day. You can do stuff for yourself in between, but best would be if Yara can come on your adventures around the place. She loves walking, running , playing . Walks 10km max. But also loves the bike-basket and enjoys rides too. Rob will be home 6 nights a week . So you will have his good company but you are ofcourse totally fine doing your own thing. On the one night a week that he is away, we ask you to take care of Yara also.

We expect you to clean up after yourself and do some household chores. (Sweep the floors so that dog hair doesn’t build up ). But no big cleanups or anything !

Unterkunft
You will have your own room with double or single bed (you choose), enough space for your clothes and other things you bring. A little table to sit and write.

When Lola is home, she loves to cook for everyone. But as there will be months of looking after Yara-dog when she’s gone, you will cook your own meals or do this together with Rob .
There will always be enough fresh (mostly organic) fruit and veg in the fridge, meat and veggo options, delicious coffee (espresso machine), good bread and fresh eggs in the pantry.

We will have a bicycle available for you, so you can go on adventures. There are many cycling paths and walks available in the area. And tells you (in English!) what things you might want to undertake. Windsurfing, seal sanctuary, bird observatory, walks etc. And the delta works : . There is a bus at 5 min cycling from our house that will take you to places also.

Lola works as a teacher online and Rob, when home, works online some of his time too. There is a large table with a view on the canal, at which we work. You are of course very welcome to use that table too!
