  Beschreibung

  We have a 1500 square meter former convent and church from the 15-18 centuries we have bern renovating with professsionals for 23 years in one of the most beautiful areas of northern Corsica. We need help up-keep, painting and straightforward masonry / carpentry due to water or humidity and ground up-keep - as needed for any such building after a long winter! We do this ourselves now. But bring in professionals for plumbing or electrical when needed. If you are a handy man - to use a drill and hang art or build a small technical room for our natural spring water to be installed by others - as we have an old church we hang art in, then you are our person! Creative, self-sufficient with chores, collaborative, environmentally sensitive, interested à foreign culture and happy around artists or visitors to a landmark building needing care - reach out to us!

  Kultureller Austausch und Lernmöglichkeiten

  Speaking many languages on an island in the Mediterranean, a mix of Italian and French cultures with a strong local identity. We offer to pay for food, 70 euros a week, which the guest will prepare themselves. No alcohol.
  As a workaway you will be part of a communal effort to restore and protect a former convent, 600 years old, we have been restoring with zero public assistance. Thus, your participation on up-keep, learning how to compensate for a non-insulated or air conditioned building, a zero net carbon aim, will be helpful to open this special place to our local community and learn about historical buildings and techniques for plastering and painting. Experience and working in a self-sufficient manner, using marked up photos on areas to work on, will be an efficient method to work.

  Arbeit

  Experienced in each category above. Mostly garden work,drainage and landscape watering and interior building renovation. We speak French, English and Spanish and some Italian. Preferred ages: 24-40. We do not discriminate on race or gender! We need self motivated helpers on general building painting, repairs and up-keep, as well as art installation in our former church. We have used paid professionals for 23 years. Now we need to have a younger group doing help on a historical monument that needs many sorts of repair, plastering, painting or site clearing and landscaping work. All trades - plumbing, masonry, framing or window installatiom, painting are useful.
