    Beschreibung

Hi ! this is Terii, 23yrd from the south of France ! Very quiet and peaceful place. We are a family based near Capestang a little city in the south of France. I run a small olive farm in the middle of nature.

Welcome to our little farm, please read the profile entirely before applying to stay with us.

Our next projet is to : Install a solar system, giving enough energy for the farm needs and for people coming in a van.

What we need help with now:

Help with gardening, harvesting, building few things like a Sundryer, a greenhouse and more ! The project is to build an off grid place to stay for travellers as I'm one, having a garden, growing food, filtering water, planting fruit trees, herbal trees and having fun !

    Who we are :

On the farm we grow mainly olive trees, and a smaller amount of Aloe Vera, other Cactus, Fruit trees, as well as almond and fig trees near Béziers. We are transforming the traditional style farm into a permaculture-designed fruit-forest, planting many more and diverse trees, with a focus on species that need little water.

The place : this is not a business farm only to have fun, learn and grow our organic food, I'm a yoga teacher and I get my income from teaching classes and private coaching in diet not from the farm. Any work here in the farm and in my house is complete benevolat/volunteer in exchange of a place to stay, sleep, and food.

The farm is located in Capestang, France.

My house is in the forest about 40 minutes driving from the farm. so there is no restaurant or coffeshop in the area but we go by car to town when needed. You can enjoy nature, forest, very calm and stunning mountain in the south of France.
Our lifestyle is very simple, we live in small house away from the busy cities.

It gets very hot in summer and it is windy and cold in the winter.
As such, we ask you to prepare yourself for the expected weather. This means warm clothes in winter as well as a warm sleeping bag !

There is no air conditioning in any room. Extreme temperatures are around 0 and 40 °C.

Please bring your own towels, working clothes (we can borrow some if needed, a water bottle, and a torch. There is a clothes exchange to your availability, but it’s not guaranteed that we have your size.

In summer severe water shortage : this means, utmost care in the usage of water during washing dishes and brushing your teeth. Never let the water tap run if you don’t use the water. If you take showers daily it should be merely a rinse to allow for the use of soap and wash the soap off.

    You as a helping guest

We welcome all people who aspire to lead a disciplined, ethical life and have a positive attitude to life and physical work. At the moment we have a special need for helpers who have solid experience in setting up and maintaining a functional garden, in building/ eco-construction, general construction, as well as woodwork and permaculture garden work.

You will help 4 hours / 5 hours per day, 5 days a week, breaks are extra.

NOTE that cleaning of the common areas is not included in this working time, and we consider around 30 min/day of kitchen or bathroom cleaning a necessary contribution to a tidy and clean community space.
If you appear to be unwilling to follow the clearly mentioned rules (see below) even after reminding you of them, we will kindly ask you to leave within one day.

There are no buses from and to the farm. We pick you up from the train or bus station after agreeing on a time and place. During your stay, on limited occasions you can share a ride if we go anywhere by car. We do not lend our cars.

    Vegan living food

We have been eating mostly vegan food for the most part in the past 5 years, We have salad and vegetables from the garden, fruit we mostly buy from local organic growers, except foursome fruits that we have and figs in August/ September, when there are plenty.

We offer one prepared (raw or not) vegan meal for lunchtime. This meal is prepared by us or volunteers for all. For breakfast we will provide something like porridge made of chia seeds, oats, sunflower seeds, cacao powder, season fruits as well and some extra.

For dinner we will have to talk about that as in general we do not eat 3 times a day but 2 times and snacks for dinner. Sundays, everyone is responsible for their food. Our previous guests have always been very happy and joyful about the variety and taste of the available fruit, vegetables and dry foods.

Only the cook and their helper(s) are allowed in the kitchen and food storage room. The food is served on the farm or in the living-room area and/or on the terrace. People who want to change their diet and would like to know more about (raw) vegan food are very welcome.

    Communication .

Respect and gratitude should be the basic attitudes.

    Duration of stay :

A minimum of two and a maximum of four weeks is the duration we like our working guests to stay. A longer stay is possible as well !

Special rules we ask you to follow

    - We expect the people to live clean vegan diet on the farm and in the house, no cigarettes smoking, drugs or alcohol.

    - Please bring along only natural soaps and shampoos, thank you (from the trees). As mentioned, we ask you to shower as short as possible.

    - Please respect the calmness of the place and do not put loud music publicly (only with earphones).

    - If you like to help less than the required hours or cannot help due to some reason, we can reach other agreements that we can discuss in a call beforehand. In the case of inability to help because of sickness longer than one day, we would kindly ask you to contribute from your heart economically.

    - Since we have a cat, please do not bring dogs along.

    - You need to have your own health insurance.

    - Group-meetings: we have a daily meeting to talk about your needs and our needs.

    Cleanliness

We want to keep a high standard of hygiene (more details about the kitchen are provided upon arrival). All our helping guests are jointly responsible for the tidiness of the kitchen and the common areas and the time of the cleaning is not included in the helping hours (see above). Everyone is expected to help with cleaning about 30 minutes per day. The kitchen and bedroom is to be broomed and cleaned daily.

Laundry: you can give us your laundry and we will wash it with the machine at the required temperature. We only use natural soaps for washing. You can also wash by hand if you like.
    Internet

    - We don’t have wifi internet. Please bring your own internet (we can help you to get it for cheap : 20 euros for a month of 4G).

    PS :

Please NOTE that this is a private farm. Only for our us and travellers. So we do not sell fruit, veggie or have a huge farm production. We are going one step at the time, one tree at the time, one seed at the time to become in soon future fully off grid and not buying food from outside. Slowly but we are heading to that.

My house is in the forest about 40 minutes driving from the farm. so there is no restaurant or coffeshop is the area but we go by car to town sometimes to get grocery. On the road to the farm there is an organic market, a supermarket and a local fruit grower if you need extra fruits for you.

You can enjoy walks in nature, forest, very calm and stunning mountain.
