  Welcome to Finca MiraVida – Our Jungle Home in Costa Rica! 🌴🌺
  
  Hi! We are an international family of four, originally from Germany and Portugal/Belgium, living our dream on the beautiful Caribbean coast of Costa Rica, near Cahuita.
  
  After spending many years living abroad in Dahab, Egypt (and other places), we decided to create something truly special: a home surrounded by nature, animals, and wonderful people from all over the world.
  
  Our home is part of Finca MiraVida, a beautiful 67-hectare property with tropical jungle, rivers, a waterfall, wildlife, open spaces, and endless possibilities. We are slowly developing a small neighborhood where families and like-minded people can create their own homes, share experiences, and enjoy a more connected way of living.
  
  We are not a commune or a traditional eco-village. We simply love the idea of creating a friendly neighborhood where people have their own space and independence, while still enjoying a sense of community.
  
  Our family & daily life ❤️
  
  We have two wonderful children, aged 4 and 7, who love being outdoors, exploring nature, playing, and meeting new people.
  
  Our days are a colorful mix of family life, working on projects, caring for our animals, gardening, building, cooking, and coming up with new ideas!
  
  There is always something happening here, and we have so many different projects that almost everyone can contribute something valuable.
  
  We also love learning from others! Whether you are good at building, gardening, teaching, cooking, photography, music, languages, or something completely different, we believe everyone has unique skills worth sharing.
  
  We would especially love to improve our Spanish and give our children more opportunities to learn languages, discover new interests, and connect with people from different cultures.
  
  Our farm & projects 🌱
  
  Our property is a beautiful mix of secondary tropical forest, open areas, and developing farmland.
  
  We have farm animals, including cows, goats, sheep, chickens, gees, ducks, turkey dogs and so on, and we are gradually creating more spaces for growing food, planting fruit trees, improving our infrastructure, and making the property a wonderful place for both people and animals.
  
  We love nature and try to make thoughtful decisions, while also being realistic about the needs of a working farm and a growing family neighborhood.
  
  We are also dreaming of creating a small, nature-inspired learning environment for children in the future.
  
  There are always new ideas, projects, and opportunities to get creative!

  We live in a truly beautiful part of Costa Rica, surrounded by tropical wildlife (sloths and monkeys visit us almost daily), lush greenery, and the sounds of nature.
  
  Our property has its own rivers and waterfall, and the Caribbean beaches are only about 10 minutes away (by car). The charming town of Cahuita, with its national park, beaches, restaurants, and relaxed Caribbean atmosphere, is around 20 minutes away.
  
  Life here is peaceful, adventurous, sometimes muddy, and definitely never boring!
  
  We enjoy good conversations, shared meals, laughter, creativity, and meeting people with interesting stories and different perspectives.
  
  We are still building and developing many parts of our dream, so this is not a luxury retreat or a perfectly organized resort. It is a real family home and an evolving farm project, where you can experience everyday life in the Costa Rican jungle.
  
  We would love to welcome friendly, independent, open-minded people who enjoy nature, children, animals, and being part of something that is growing and evolving.

  For us, hosting Workawayers is about much more than getting help with our projects. We love meeting people from different countries, hearing their stories, sharing experiences, and learning from each other!
  
  We are an international family with German, Portuguese, and Belgian roots. Before moving to Costa Rica, we spent many years living in Egypt, so we have plenty of stories and experiences to share about living abroad, raising children in different cultures, and creating a life outside the ordinary.
  
  ❤️ Become Part of Our Jungle Family
  
  We love good conversations, shared meals, laughter, and spending time together. Whether it's cooking something delicious, enjoying a barbecue, sitting around a campfire, playing games, or simply relaxing after a busy day, there are plenty of opportunities to connect.
  
  At the same time, we value independence and personal space. You are always welcome to join our family activities, but you will also have the freedom to enjoy your own time.
  
  🌊 Explore Our Little Paradise
  
  Our property is surrounded by tropical nature, with rivers, a waterfall, wildlife, and beautiful places to explore.
  
  We also have some lovely shared spaces, including a swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi, and outdoor areas where we enjoy spending time together.
  
  The Caribbean beaches are only about 10 minutes away, and Cahuita, with its beautiful national park and relaxed Caribbean atmosphere, is around 20 minutes away.
  
  There are opportunities to discover local markets, beaches, restaurants, and the unique Caribbean culture of Costa Rica.
  
  🌱 Share Skills & Learn Something New
  
  Life on our farm offers plenty of opportunities to exchange knowledge and practical skills.
  
  We can share our experiences of creating a home in the jungle, caring for farm animals, growing tropical plants, developing a property, and building a family life in Costa Rica.
  
  We also have experience in entrepreneurship, online businesses, and creating projects from scratch, and we're always happy to exchange ideas with people who are interested.
  
  In return, we would love to learn from you!
  
  Maybe you speak Spanish and can help us improve our language skills, enjoy teaching children, know something about construction or gardening, play an instrument, or have a completely different talent to share.
  
  We believe that everyone has something valuable to teach and something new to learn.

  One of our biggest motivations for welcoming volunteers is to bring more international exchange into our everyday lives, especially for our children.
  
  We want them to grow up meeting people with different backgrounds, languages, traditions, and ways of thinking.

  Many Different Projects – Bring Your Skills, Ideas & Creativity! 🌴❤️
  
  There is always something happening at Finca MiraVida, and we would love to welcome people with all kinds of skills, talents, and interests!
  
  We are a family developing our jungle home, farm, and future neighborhood, and there are so many different ways to get involved. You definitely don't need to be an expert in everything! We believe everyone has something special to contribute.
  
  Here are some of the areas where we would especially love some help:
  
  🎨 Children, Education & Creative Activities
  
  We have two children, aged 4 and 7, and we love the idea of them growing up surrounded by people from different cultures and backgrounds.
  
  We would especially love to welcome people who enjoy spending time with children, teaching, playing, reading, doing arts and crafts, music, sports, or exploring nature together.
  
  We are very interested in alternative education, homeschooling, Montessori, Waldorf, and nature-based learning. We are also dreaming of creating a small jungle school in the future!
  
  If you have experience in education, childcare, or simply love sharing your knowledge with children, we would be very happy to hear from you.
  
  We would also love someone who could help our children practice German through reading, storytelling, games, and fun activities.
  
  🇪🇸 Languages & Cultural Exchange
  
  We would absolutely love to improve our Spanish! If you're a Spanish speaker who enjoys teaching through everyday conversations or informal lessons, that would be amazing.
  
  We also welcome German-speaking volunteers who would enjoy sharing their language with our children.
  
  In return, we can share German, English, and our own experiences of living in different countries.
  
  🔨 Building, Carpentry & DIY Projects
  
  We have many exciting building and improvement projects around the property!
  
  From creating furniture and improving outdoor spaces to setting up additional accommodation, decorating, painting, and finding creative solutions for everyday farm life, there is always something to work on.
  
  We would especially love to meet people with experience in carpentry, woodworking, construction, architecture, or practical DIY skills.
  
  If you have professional construction experience, we would be particularly interested in connecting with you! We have bigger building projects planned for the future, and depending on your skills and experience, there may also be opportunities for separate, paid work arrangements, subject to local employment requirements.
  
  🍳 Cooking & Everyday Family Life
  
  Do you love cooking? We love discovering new recipes and sharing food from different cultures!
  
  With two children, animals, and lots of projects going on, everyday family life can get pretty busy, so we would also really appreciate an extra pair of helping hands around the house!
  
  This could include preparing meals, keeping the kitchen and living spaces clean and organized, doing laundry, tidying up, and helping with general household tasks.
  
  We are flexible and happy to find a balance depending on your interests and skills. Whether you love cooking, enjoy organizing, or simply don't mind helping with everyday chores, your support would be very welcome! ❤️
  
  🌱 Gardening, Planting & Farm Projects
  
  We are gradually developing different areas of our property, planting fruit trees and other useful plants, creating garden spaces, growing food, maintaining paths, and improving our surroundings.
  
  If you enjoy working outdoors, getting your hands dirty, and learning about tropical plants, there are plenty of opportunities to contribute!
  
  🐄 Animals & Farm Life
  
  We share our home with cows, goats, sheep, dogs, and other animals.
  
  Depending on your experience and interests, you could help with feeding, caring for the animals, maintaining their spaces, and participating in everyday farm activities.

  We live in a beautiful place with so many stories to tell!
  
  If you enjoy photography, filmmaking, editing videos, creating social media content, or storytelling, we would love to exchange ideas and document some of the special moments happening here.

  We enjoy working alongside our volunteers, sharing knowledge, learning new skills, and exchanging ideas.
  
  Some projects we will do together, while other activities can be done independently once everything has been explained.
  
  We are flexible and would love to find a good balance between what you enjoy doing, what you're experienced in, and where we currently need help.
  
  We don't expect everyone to do everything! If you love working with children but have no interest in gardening, that's perfectly fine. If you're a skilled carpenter who prefers building things, that's wonderful too!
  
  We value initiative, reliability, good communication, independence, and a positive attitude.
  
  Our goal is to create a friendly, respectful atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable, appreciated, and part of the experience.
  
  For us, this is about much more than getting things done. It's about sharing experiences, learning from each other, exchanging cultures, and hopefully creating wonderful memories and friendships along the way! 🌺

  We are a multilingual, international family! Joel speaks French, Spanish, English, and Portuguese, while I speak German and English and would absolutely love to improve my Spanish! Our two children speak German and English, and we would love for them to strengthen their German skills and continue improving their Spanish in a natural, playful way. We especially welcome volunteers who enjoy language exchange, whether through everyday conversations, reading with the children, playing games, or simply spending time together. We believe that learning languages is so much more fun when it happens naturally through friendships, shared experiences, and daily life!

  Unterkunft

  🏡 Your Jungle Home at Finca MiraVida 🌴
  
  At the beginning, our Workawayers will stay in our cozy guesthouse, surrounded by beautiful tropical nature. The guesthouse has its own kitchen, bathroom, and comfortable living space, so you can enjoy your privacy and independence.
  
  We are flexible when it comes to working hours and meals! We can discuss individually how many hours you would like to contribute and find an arrangement that works well for everyone, including whether meals are provided or you prefer to cook independently.
  
  One of our first projects will be preparing and furnishing another house on our nearby farm, which will eventually become our dedicated volunteer accommodation. Once it's ready, our Workawayers will move there, allowing us to welcome visitors in our guesthouse again.
  
  You'll also be able to enjoy some of the wonderful spaces around our property, including our swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi, and beautiful natural surroundings.
  
  We have Starlink Wi-Fi, so you can stay connected even while living in the jungle!
  
  🌿 A Little Jungle Reality Check!
  
  As mentioned before, we are still in the middle of developing our property, so not everything is finished or perfectly organized yet.
  
  The path to the accommodation is currently not accessible by car, and during heavy rain it can get quite muddy! Living in the tropics also means sharing your surroundings with insects, geckos, frogs, and all kinds of fascinating jungle creatures.
  
  But that's also part of the adventure! ❤️
  
  Despite the ongoing projects and occasional muddy adventures, this place is incredibly beautiful, peaceful, and full of life. Surrounded by lush greenery, wildlife, rivers, and the sounds of the jungle, it really is a little paradise.
  
  We are looking for people who appreciate nature, are flexible, enjoy a bit of adventure, and don't mind that we are still building and improving things along the way.

  🌴 Getting Around & Enjoying Your Free Time
  
  We live in a beautiful but quite remote location, surrounded by jungle and nature. It's wonderfully peaceful here, but it's important to know that we're not within walking distance of shops, restaurants, or nightlife.
  
  The good news is that we regularly drive to town, go grocery shopping, or visit the beach, and you're very welcome to join us whenever it works out! ❤️
  
  The beautiful Caribbean beaches are about 10 minutes away by car, and Cahuita, with its national park, restaurants, cafés, and laid-back Caribbean atmosphere, is around 20 minutes away.
  
  There are plenty of wonderful places to explore in the area, from beaches and waterfalls to local villages and tropical wildlife.
  
  However, since we live outside of town, having your own transportation would give you much more independence. We are happy to help you figure out transportation options, but we cannot guarantee daily rides.
  
  ❤️ A Few Things About Our Lifestyle
  
  We are a relaxed, open-minded family who love good conversations, laughter, shared experiences, and meeting interesting people.
  
  At the same time, this is our family home, with two young children and lots of animals, so we appreciate a peaceful, respectful atmosphere.
  
  We prefer an environment without excessive drinking, drugs, or loud parties.
  
  We also value honesty, independence, good communication, and people who are happy to take initiative.
  
  Life here is quite flexible and sometimes spontaneous. Plans can change depending on the weather, the children, the animals, or whatever unexpected adventure the jungle has planned for us! 😄
  
  We don't expect perfection, and we certainly don't have everything figured out ourselves. We're still learning, building, and improving things every day.
  
  If you're easygoing, responsible, enjoy nature, and don't mind a little mud on your shoes, we think you'll have a wonderful time here! 🌺❤️

Please keep in mind that internet connections can occasionally be affected by weather or technical issues, as we live in a remote tropical location.

Bringing your own pet might be possible, but we would need to discuss this individually beforehand. It is very important that your pet gets along well with other animals, especially our dogs, and that everyone can live together safely and comfortably. Please contact us before making any plans to bring your pet, so we can see whether it would be a good fit. 🐾❤️
