  This is a truly unique experience off the beaten path 👣. There is plenty of space if you’re coming in a group, bring your tents or vehicles all are welcome.
  
  I am a young māmā setting up my own offgrid homestead. I used to be a WWOOF’er/Workawayer here in NZ 🇳🇿 and have travelled overseas a few times, now the time has come for me to be the Host 🤗.
  
  What you see is our own exclusive private property on the western shore of Lake Taupō where my family is known in the community for their warm and welcoming hospitality. This is a place rich in culture and adventure, where you can create lifelong memories.
  
  Located an hour away from Taupo and 30min from Turangi. Drive down through the farm and the forest and be greeted by nature and the beauty of the lake. If you crave the serenity of wide-open spaces and walking barefoot in the harmony of nature, this is the place for you.
  
  Guests must enjoy being around children. I have three energetic young children, who are very inquisitive and independent. They love socialising with their family and visitors, as do I. We are welcoming, friendly, love food and learning about different cultures. I live on my papakainga (ancestral lands) and for decades my family members have hosted backpackers from all over the world who travel here to camp and rock climb.
  
  Our home is always busy and often I appreciate an extra pair of hands around to lighten the load. If you are self guided and can take the initiative to help where you see the need then this place is for you. However to get some understanding, I am currently renovating my earth house, to make it more sustainable and align with the UN sustainable goals. We are upsizing our rain water tank, installing a solar powered system, and designing the house to implement passive heating. Outside we are creating a vegetable garden, planting native trees as-well as building a pizza earthoven. If you prefer to work inside you can help in the kitchen, cooking and baking.
  Or there’s the option of going with the children on adventures.
  
  In return for your hard work and dedication, you'll find yourself in a warm and welcoming home, surrounded by the beauty of Lake Taupō and the serenity of nature. With a multitude of recreational activities to do in the bay.
  
  We are offering accommodation and food for approximately 4 - 5 hours of helping & work each day. You will have a private caravan with a comfy bed along with access to a full kitchen. You could also stay in your own self-contained vehicles if you choose.
  
  You will be responsible for making your own breakfasts and lunch food but some food can be supplied for these meals. Dinners can either be enjoyed together or separately depending on the needs of all (you provide your own snacks and treats). We are flexible about building up extra time to take days off. If you are staying for a week (or more) then the working week is 6 days, and one day where no work is required.
  
  People with an efficient and thorough work ethic and who show initiative will fit in well here. The work here is simple but requires some effort and fitness. Your work will be rewarded with much appreciation.

  There's a wide range of tasks a very good, happy go lucky attitude is an absolute must.
  
  A few suggestions:
  
  - Gardening enthusiasts wanted: any green fingered folk or people with permaculture experience most welcome! We are creating new landscaping, from native tree windbreak planting, mulching, creating new vegetable gardens, maintaining vegetable gardens.
  
  - Planting Trees for Tomorrow: Join us in our mission to preserve and protect the natural beauty that surrounds us by planting trees and cultivating a greener tomorrow.
  
  - Property Maintenance: Keep our sanctuary in pristine condition by lending a hand with property maintenance tasks. From clearing pest plants, weed whacking to mowing lawns, your skills are invaluable in upholding our sanctuary.
  
  - Small Household Heroes: Tackle those niggling household chores with ease, simply lending a helping hand wherever it's needed. Whether its general housekeeping (vacuuming, cleaning windows, mopping floors etc), or organising. I am so busy trying to build our offgrid sustainable life help with house cleaning is most appreciated.
  
  - Cooking : We would really love you to share your cooking dishes with us! So chefs and those with a love of cooking, are very welcome! 😀
  
  And of course there are lots of random tasks around the place, plenty of things to keep you more than busy in this beautiful spot!

  Accommodation:
  
  - In the caravan there can either be two single beds or it can be converted into a large bed, this is a glamping style retreat so you will need to be ok with offgrid living. I also have a small pop up campervan.
