Due to the national and regional pandemic guidelines,
On arrival, you will be required to take covid precautions.. so wear a face mask in the house when outside your own rooms and keep 2 metres distance outside until you have been here for 2 weeks or recieved a negative test result.
Given this I am only accepting volunteers for a minimum 6 week stay.
Cultural exchange/ sustainability project
We are interested in meeting new people, learning about different cultures, new languages and as a qualified chef I love to share recipes and try making new dishes. I used to do a lot of travelling and have visited many countries, these days the farm ties me down so it's great when travellers bring their worlds here.
I am renovating a run down farm to create a more self sufficient dream home, not for profit smallholding , which i share with a small menagerie including - horses, alpacas, sheep, goats, turkeys, ducks, chickens, dogs, a cat and a parrot, all of whom need looking after every day. The poultry provide us with meat and eggs and we are hoping the goats will soon provide us with milk (and babies 😍) so if you want to learn all about looking after animals this is an ideal opportunity. At the moment the builders are here converting the dairy into self contained workaway accomodation and now the groundsworkers/JCBs have been in to do the landscaping we are trying to turn the small farm yard into a garden, which will provide us with our own supply of vegetables and fruits in the longer term. So there is much for us all to learn about helping with Building, DIY, gardening and self sufficiency.
As well as assisting you to improve your english and providing opportunities for you to contribute/learn new skills.
You will have your own room, lounge and bathroom, Netflix, food and Wifi is a available but is not unlimited.
The farm is in a rural setting, 10 mins walk from the nearest village so you will need to be able to entertain yourself, enjoy the countryside/ company of animals and like peace and quiet.
At weekends we normally take volunteers to local places of interest ( see list below) or play taxi to the train station for those who want to visit local cities/ london - obviously this is limited due to covid restrictions.
