We are looking for a surfer or a person interested in surfing to help us in our surf school or in our surf hostal in Huanchaco.
Both are run by Juninho and Ester. John, Juninho's older brother, and Miriam set up the businesses and are still helping from abroad.
At our surfschool we attend all different levels. We also offer training and coaching for advanced and professional riders. Having a professonal rider in the family, this is our strength. Our surf school is a family-run business. We work together with locals. All our surf teachers are locals!
The school is located in front of the sea. Huanchaco´s beach is famous for it´s waves and surfing. Since 2012 Hunachaco is declared as World Surfing Reserve. There is a good surfing for everyone- from beginner to professional.
The Surf Hostal is a small family-run hostal. In total there are 8 rooms. There is a well equipped kitchen, 2 bathrooms and a terrace, that are shared in between all guests, and of course there is Wifi. Guests and volunteers quickly feel at home in our hostal. Downstairs of the hostel live John and Juninho´s parents. They are in charge of the Caballito tours we offer.
Huanchaco is a really nice village to stay. It´s original population are fishermen. Nowadays they still go fishing with the famous, special reedboat, which is supposed to be the beginning of surfing here.
Huanchaco is visited by a lot of tourists from all over the world. The village offers all different kinds of lifestyles. First of all there is a lot of surfing! You can have a really relaxed time here and chill out but you can also have a lot of fun going out at night and dancing Salsa.Arten von Hilfe und Lernmöglichkeiten

In the time you stay with us, you will for sure learn a lot!
First of all you will learn how to work at a surf school or at a surf hostal, you will learn about the processes and the system of those businesses and besides how work specially in South America works. You will learn how to work independently and get close to people.
In your time here you will improve your Spanish as this is the first language here and we are pleased to help you with that! But if you need a break or don´t understand we can also help you with English.
At the hostal and in Huanchaco there are a lot of tourists and other volunteers. For sure you will get to know people from all over the world, hear all different kind of stories and can exchange your travel experiences.
If there is anything about surfing you want to know, you are in good hands! Juninho is a professional surfer - 4 times surf champion of Peru, but also Junior World Champion, Junior Latinamerican Champion and Junior Panamerican champion. Besides of his own surf talent Juninho is an amazing surf teacher and choach with a lot of pacience. His knowledge about surfing is huge! For sure you will learn a lot about surfing from him!!!
If you are interested in Huanchaco´s traditions, you should have a chat with or accompany Juninho´s parents who live below the hostal you will stay at. Father Santos is a fisherman who is still doing his Caballito boats and Mother Rosa sells her artesania at the beach.
You will definitely have a great time and get to know a lot of new, interesting things during your stay with us!Arbeit
At the surfschool we mainly need somebody who helps us to attend the clients. Give them information, rent them boards and arrange surf lessons. At the surf school you work mainly with Juninho.
At the surf hostal we need help with the cleaning and with attending the guests. Besides the general daily tasks, we can agree on some other little projects. Maybe you can paint well- so you could do some drawings on the walls. Or maybe you like to do some gardening. We would adapt those projects on your skills, our needs and of course the time that really is left. At the hostel you work mainly with Ester.
We are looking for someone who can stay at least one month. Hours would be 5 hours a day, maximum 25 hours a week, with two days off a week.
You should speak English and basic Spanish, should be reliable, friendly, independent and interested in surfing!Gesprochene Sprachen

What else to do in and around Huanchaco:
Huanchaco offers a good surf each day. If the swell is too big and so the current too strong, best is to make an one hour trip to Chicama, world´s longest left wave!
If you want to learn Spanish and take some Spanish classes, we work together with a language school in Huanchaco.
Enjoy delicious Peruvian food in Huanchaco! Huanchaco is famous for its Ceviche, a raw fish and seafood dish!
If you prefer to cook yourself, in the market 2 blocks away from the hostal, you can get any fresh fruit you can imagine, all different kinds of fresh vegetables and of course fresh fish! There is also a big supermarket in the mall 20 minutes from Huanchaco, heading towards Trujillo, Perus 3rd biggest city. In the mall you can even find a cinema!
Enjoy a wonderful view over Huanchaco and its coastline or an amazing sunset from its church Santuario Virgen del Socorro, Peru´s second Christian church.
Get to know more about Huanchaco´s reed boats, the "Caballitos de Totora". You can even have a ride on them!
If you are interested in Peru´s culture, visit the famous archaeological sites of the pre-Columbian cultures of the Chimus and Moches:
- Chan- Chan, capital of the Chimu culture is the biggest adobe city of the world, 15 minutes from Huanchaco by car.
- Huaca de la Luna y del Sol are adobe temples from the Moche culture with well preserved, colorful murals, 4 km outside of Trujillo.
- El Brujo is one of the most important archaeological complexes on the north coast of Peru from the Moche culture. The complex lies about 45 minutes north of Huanchaco by car, in between Huanchaco and Chicama.
As you see, there are quite some things to do here. If you have any other question, please contact us!Etwas mehr Information
