  ** LOOKING FOR LAND SITTER LONG TERM OVER WINTER FROM NOVEMBER ~ APRIL** You will have our beautiful land to yourselves, we have a lovely accommodation, cosy bus with kitchen and burner. You need to love cats as we have two cats that need caring for and feeding. Perfect for if you are looking for your own land or wanting to retreat from your life for winter. Looking to delve deep into your creative projects / studying/ wanting time out to recharge from your life!
  
  Hello we are Daisy & Henry, we live on a beautiful 1 hectre piece of land nestled in the hills of Castelo Branco, central Portugal. We are at the foothill of a small mountain, which feels very peaceful and expansive, with a walk into the village just 5 minutes away. We live close to a beautiful lake and lots of walking routes, as well as historical beautiful towns and sites. The area is generally very traditional, yet there are a lot of alternative foreigners working on their projects within a radius of 30 mins.
  
  We are looking for volunteers to support our mission of caring for the land, this will be varied, making new growing beds, clearing, chipping, tending to natural builds, water systems, making compost, natural fertilisers.
  
  Our mission is to re-wild, regenerate and diversify the natural ecology, through permaculture techniques and agroforestry, we are only two years into our project, and have a lot of ambition for creating a space that can be shared and inspire others through hosting ecological and wellness courses, events and retreats.
  
  We live simply and humbly with our dog and two cats, we grow food in the summer, and are working towards a more productive winter garden and in general self sufficiency, we have planted many young trees, and have 100 olive trees, which we prune, harvest and take care of.
  
  Our projects are very seasonal dependant, this autumn will focus on mulching, composting, making new growing area of raised hugel beds.
  
  We live as a permanent two, with our dog and two kittens, but we often have more people staying and visiting the land.
  
  We have flowing spring water on the land, a small natural swimming pond, we are in the process of installing a hot shower.
  
  As people who have travelled a lot in the past and volunteered in other countries, we are all social people who like to meet new people from around the world. We love to eat and cook together, some from the garden, and enjoy nature and adventures, and also going to parties around Portugal. We work at festivals in the summer with our own food business, and the rest of the year, we do a mix of land based work, teaching yoga and herbal medicine on retreats and care work.
  
  We like to share meals and space, but also appreciate our own space so are looking for people who are comfortable with their own company at times, and happy to act autonomously without constant guidance.
  
  The accommodation we offer is basic but comfortable, we have a tiny home with a spacious decking, burner and kitchen.

  Tasks will be mostly together, but sometimes we will be doing different tasks, you will learn a lot from a professional natural builder who will be leading the natural build.

  Unterkunft

  The accommodation we offer is basic but comfortable, we have a small trailer tent with a spacious awning. Or a cosy bus with a comfortable mini kitchen.
  
  We also have a basic 3 man tent with blow up mattress and bedding.
  
  We have bedding but is good to bring sleeping bag and comfy things if you have.
  
  Depending on arrangement - if you work 5 x per week we will provide food everyday, on the working days the meals will be communal. If you only work one day per week - you will be expected to cover your own food needs apart from this work day! We are vegetarian friendly, and eat very healthy mostly organic plant-based foods (we love to cook and one of us is a retreat chef, so don't worry you will eat well) we will also make a rota to take it in turns to cook, so if you like to cook you will be welcome to also. On your days off, there will be food for you to cook and facilities, but there wont always be communal meals depending on the plans, this is flexible, because sometimes we will be out and about.

  On days off it is really nice to explore the area the mountain we live on, and the lakes, rivers, otherwise there is often markets and gatherings happening.

  We have limited access to the land, however, there is plenty of space below the land, next to the canal where you can park up if you feel comfortable, its 30m away.

  Pets are welcome, our dog is very friendly, however we have two kittens, they are pretty confident, however if you have a dog that isn't good with cats then this will be an issue, or they will not be able to be free on the land, they would have to be on a lead or tied up. But there is really nice dog walks all around the land on the mountain.
