  Beschreibung

  We are a family living on the edge of a small portuguese village. Our quite home faces the fields and forest.
  We cultivate veggies, herbs, seeds, fruits and olive oil for our own consumption and for wildlife.
  We have been naturally renovating our farm house since 7yrs and are still going on. We use many local and self harvested materials.
  Johnny is a professional stone mason and carpenter and me Céline a permaculture designer, teacher and seed saver.
  We have a 3yr old daughter and some animals : dogs, cats and rabbits.
  We are looking for apprentices who wish to learn skills related to organic gardening- food conserving- olive oil production and natural building and renovating- within the Permaculture framework.
  We offer a basic tent accomodation immersed in Nature as well as indoor and outdoor chill out spaces.
  We live very close to an amazing river beach where we spend quite some time during summer, swimming, barbecue, playing volleyball. You can also rent there some stand up paddles and kayaks to go for a stroll on the beautiful and clean river Alva .
  Our project is called 'Bem Vindo'which means House Welcome! We aim to be a safe haven for all people, animals and good energies!
  We have been hosts to many helpers, friends and family over the years and we love to share experiences and learn together!

  Kultureller Austausch und Lernmöglichkeiten

  You will be able to learn a lot about the natural elements and cultivate your relationship with the natural forces.
  During your free time you can go up the road and chill with the locals in the caffe and be immersed in the humble portuguese rural culture.
  We are also connected and working with many local alternative projects and a wider international community.
  Close to us are many amazing riverbeaches where we can plan a trip together.

  Arbeit

  We expect eager interest in the offered teachings and a pro active attitude. We value creativity. new ideas and feedback are always welcome ! Apprentices staying long term can receive their own small scale project to design and create.
  Beginners are welcome.
  We are asking for 5h of help per day during the week. Week-ends are off.
  Meetings will be held to organize tasks.
  
  We will be focusing on following things on the land:
  Nov : preparing garden for winter
  March/April : pruning olive trees
  
  On the building site we can find a topic that interests you and fits your skills:
  - dry stone walling
  - plastering
  - stone wall repairing
  - building small wooden structures
  - planning & designing
  - helping with wood furniture making

  Unterkunft

  We are looking for camping lovers. The weather is constant and dry in the summer and offers the great pleasure of being immersed in Nature. We have lots of cozy spaces on the land where you can set your camp or use our tents with matress and bedding. Shaded under oak and olive trees. Dry compost toilets and outside shower cabin.
  
  You will have access to our indoor and outdoor chill areas for your free time.
  You will have access to a small kitchen for your personal needs.
  We will provide 3 meals / day and prepare 2 warm meals/ day during the week.
  We will provide food for the week-ends but you will organize yourself with cooking. Although In the summer time we will often go to the river beach and barbecue and you will always be welcome to join.
  
  Volunteers sleep in tents with mattresses and bedding that are provided if needed.
  I used to volunteer a lot as well and prefered always to have my own geer.
  So there is also enough space on the land if you want to establish your own camp.
  We have sheltered communal spaces inside and outside that you can use all the time as well.
  We only want to invite people the summer when it is nice weather to camp. The nights are actually nicer outside in summer.

  Direct bus to Lisbon and Coimbra and to Porto.
  The ocean is one hour away by car and accessible by public transport
