Hello, friends!
The Permanent Forest is a non-profit association based in a rural area of Spain, created to promote land regeneration, ecological awareness, and community-based learning.
Our work is guided by three core pillars: soil regeneration, food sovereignty, and shared learning, especially through Syntropic Agriculture Principles.
As an association, our purpose is not productivity or profit, but education and ecological regeneration. Volunteers join us to learn, observe, and support simple, everyday activities that sustain this project.
We are currently developing an experimental and demonstrative regenerative food forest, based on the principles of Syntropic Agriculture. This living system is conceived as a space for experimentation, learning, and sharing, with the long-term goal of being shared and collectively cared for together with the local community. Our intention is to explore, practice, and share ways of reconnecting humans with nature through syntropic agriculture.
WHAT WE DO AND HOW YOU CAN HELP:
- Regenerative food forest (educational context): supporting light tasks such as mulching with natural materials, weeding the syntropic lines, managing the syntropic lines, planting, harvesting and pruning.
- Vegetable garden for shared consumption: sowing, transplanting, and gentle care of plants.
- Landscape & biodiversity awareness: planting native species and managing the forest.
- Educational activities with children: occasional participation in outdoor activities based on play, exploration, and shared learning.
- Living with horses: supporting simple, supervised tasks with horses, such as collecting manure in forest areas as part of soil regeneration and accompanying the setup of temporary, mobile electric fencing for regenerative grazing. The horses play an ecological role in vegetation management and fire prevention; they are not used for riding or commercial purposes.
Light domestic support: helping keep shared spaces and the volunteer cabin clean and organized.

PRACTICAL DETAILS:
Minimum stay: 2–3 weeks
Volunteers stay in a small, separate cabin and prepare their own meals (we provide the ingredients).
WORKAWAY FAMILIES: families are welcome if they bring their own sleeping setup (camper, caravan, or tent) and cover their own meals. Only one adult participates as a volunteer.

WHAT TO BRING (IMPORTANT):
Life here is simple and closely connected to nature, so we kindly ask volunteers to come prepared with:
A sleeping bag
Waterproof boots or sturdy outdoor footwear
Rain gear / waterproof clothing
Comfortable clothes that can get dirty
VOLUNTEER COMMITMENT FORM:
As a registered non-profit association, all volunteers are required to sign a volunteer commitment form, in accordance with the volunteering regulations of the Government of Catalonia. This document defines the voluntary and non-paid nature of the collaboration, as well as the rights and responsibilities of both parties, ensuring that the experience takes place within a safe, transparent, and legally compliant framework.

El Bosc Permanent es una asociación sin ánimo de lucro situada en un entorno rural de España, creada para promover la regeneración de la tierra, la conciencia ecológica y el aprendizaje comunitario.
Nuestro trabajo se guía por tres pilares fundamentales: regeneración del suelo, soberanía alimentaria y aprendizaje compartido, especialmente a través de los principios de la Agricultura Sintrópica.
Como asociación, nuestro propósito no es la productividad ni el beneficio económico, sino la educación y la regeneración ecológica. Las personas voluntarias se suman para aprender, observar y apoyar actividades sencillas del día a día que sostienen este proyecto.
Actualmente estamos desarrollando un bosc comestible regenerativo experimental y demostrativo, basado en los principios de la Agricultura Sintrópica. Este sistema vivo está concebido como un espacio de experimentación, aprendizaje y compartición, con el objetivo a largo plazo de ser compartido y cuidado colectivamente junto con la comunidad local. Nuestra intención es explorar, practicar y compartir formas de reconectar al ser humano con la naturaleza a través de la agricultura sintrópica.
QUÉ HACEMOS Y CÓMO PUEDES AYUDAR:
- Bosc comestible regenerativo (contexto educativo): apoyo en tareas ligeras como el acolchado con materiales naturales, deshierbe de las líneas sintrópicas, gestión de las líneas sintrópicas, plantación, cosecha y poda.
- Huerta para consumo compartido: siembra, trasplante y cuidado suave de las plantas.
- Conciencia del entorno y biodiversidad: plantación de especies autóctonas y gestión del bosque.
- Actividades educativas con niños: participación ocasional en actividades al aire libre basadas en el juego, la exploración y el aprendizaje compartido.
- Convivencia con caballos: apoyo en tareas sencillas y supervisadas con caballos, como la recogida de estiércol en zonas del bosque como parte de la regeneración del suelo y el acompañamiento en el montaje de cierres eléctricos móviles y temporales para pastoreo regenerativo. Los caballos cumplen un papel ecológico en la gestión de la vegetación y la prevención de incendios; no se utilizan para equitación ni con fines comerciales.
- Apoyo doméstico ligero: ayudar a mantener limpios y ordenados los espacios comunes y la casita de voluntarios.

DETALLES PRÁCTICOS:
Estancia mínima: 2–3 semanas
Las personas voluntarias se alojan en una pequeña cabaña independiente y preparan su propia comida (nosotros proporcionamos los ingredientes).

Este documento define claramente el carácter voluntario y no remunerado de la colaboración, así como los derechos y responsabilidades de ambas partes, garantizando que la experiencia se desarrolla dentro de un marco seguro, transparente y legal.

Our way of living is simple and practical. We are doing home education with different families from the non-profit project wich is quite interesting. The main goal of our association is to study new ways of reconnecting with nature by regeneration, we want to bring this kind of culture to the society.

What we do & how you can help
Volunteering with The Permanent Forest is about learning by doing, observing natural processes, and supporting simple, non-commercial activities connected to ecological regeneration and community life.
Regenerative food forest (educational context):
supporting light tasks such as mulching with natural materials, gentle weeding of syntropic lines, planting, observing plant interactions, and seasonal harvesting as part of an experimental and demonstrative syntropic system.
Vegetable garden for shared consumption:
sowing, transplanting, watering, and gentle care of plants grown for collective use.
Forest regeneration & biodiversity awareness:
planting native species, light clearing and pruning of bushes and trees, and observing local flora and fauna as part of an ongoing ecological learning process.
Educational activities with children:
occasional participation in outdoor activities based on play, exploration, and shared learning, within the association’s educational framework.
Living with horses (ecological role):
supporting simple, supervised tasks such as collecting manure in forest areas as part of soil regeneration and accompanying the setup of temporary, mobile electric fencing for regenerative grazing. The horses contribute to vegetation management and fire prevention and are not used for riding or commercial purposes.
Light domestic support:
helping keep shared spaces and the volunteer cabin clean, welcoming, and well organized.
All activities are volunteer-based, educational, and non-commercial, and are not intended to replace paid work or professional roles. Volunteers are encouraged to participate according to their interests and energy, within a calm and respectful rhythm.

We love to improve english. But we are also interested on learning other languages. And the children coming to the project that are doing home education will be super happy of learning anything by playing with them.
Unterkunft
Private volunteer mud and straw tiny house. It has accomodation for two hosts. We still don't have hot water but now we have a fridge on the volunteers house. The toilet is a compost/dry toilet. Every week we will buy food for the volunteers and they cook their meals for themselves in the small house.

Near our house we have a river wich have some nice ponds to refresh on summer. And the natural park that surrounds us has lots of nice trails, caves and mountains to visit. Our farm is 6km from the nearest village. But we always have people on our land.
