  Hello!
  
  We are a friendly retired German couple living in Kaldanija, a small and peaceful village in beautiful Istria, Croatia.
  We enjoy a quiet life, good food, spending time outdoors and welcoming friendly people into our home. We share our house with our dog Mac, who is an important member of our family.
  Please note that we are smokers and smoking also takes place inside the house. If you are sensitive to cigarette smoke or prefer a completely smoke-free environment, our home may not be the best fit for you
  This summer we would like to refresh parts of our home before our grandchildren come to visit. We are looking for a reliable and positive person or couple who would enjoy helping us with some painting and cleaning projects.
  In return, we offer a private room, meals, Wi-Fi and the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful coast of Istria during your free time.
  Since my husband speaks only German, fluent German is essential for good communication and a pleasant stay with us.
  We look forward to meeting you and sharing a little part of our life in Croatia!

  We love spending time with our Workawayers and want them to feel like part of our home, not just like helpers. We enjoy eating meals together, chatting over coffee or in the garden, and sharing everyday life in Croatia.
  We can show you the beautiful Istrian region, recommend lovely beaches, walking and cycling routes, local markets and traditional food. You will have the opportunity to experience life in a small Croatian village close to the Slovenian border and the Adriatic Sea.
  Rainer speaks German only, so we are looking for German-speaking Workawayers. We enjoy sharing our life experiences, cooking together and learning about your culture, traditions and favourite recipes. We are always interested in hearing about life in other countries and exchanging ideas.
  Our goal is that both hosts and Workawayers learn from each other, have a good time together and create wonderful memories.

  Arbeit

  This summer we would like to refresh parts of our home before our grandchildren come to visit. As we are getting older, some tasks have become more difficult for us. My husband has COPD, and I have arthritis, which means we cannot always do as much physical work as we would like.
  That is one of the reasons why we are looking for a helping hand with painting and cleaning projects around our home. We are still active and involved in the work, but we would greatly appreciate some support with the heavier and more time-consuming tasks.
  We are looking for a reliable and positive person or couple who would enjoy helping us with some painting and cleaning projects.

  Unterkunft

  Guests have their own private room upstairs and a private bathroom. In the room, we provide a kettle as well as coffee and tea, so you can enjoy a hot drink whenever you like. There is also a small seating area in the garden where you can relax, read, enjoy a coffee, or simply spend some quiet time outdoors.
  
  Breakfast: A simple, self-serve breakfast to start the day.
  ​Lunch: A light, casual lunch. Since it can get quite warm during the day, we usually serve a cold platter with bread, cheese, cold cuts (Wurst), yogurt, and fresh fruit.
  ​Dinner: This is our main, warm meal of the day! Because of the daytime heat, we prefer to cook a nice, warm dinner in the evening when it cools down.

  Our place is located right next to the Parenzana cycling route, making it easy to reach us by bike. It’s a scenic and popular trail that passes close to our home, so arriving by bicycle is simple and enjoyable for travelers following this route.

  Mac

  Mac is our 15-year-old Chihuahua–Terrier mix with a big personality in a small body. He is calm and observant, and he likes to take his time when meeting new people, preferring to approach situations in his own way.
  Once he feels comfortable, he enjoys gentle company and being near people he trusts, but he also values his independence and quiet moments. Because of his age, he is happiest in a peaceful environment with a relaxed daily rhythm.
