Vom Workawayer (Armel) für Host
I stayed at Martin and Edith's farm for 10 nights and 9 days. There is a nice tiny house with a huge garden, completely lost in the middle of the countryside. I was well received and housed in a single room.
I helped to plant vegetables in the beautiful and interesting garden, collect wood for the fire, make a hedge of dry bushes to protect the
… read more vegetable garden from the heat of the wind and prepare the ground and posts for a water tank installation. I also spent a lot of time cutting up meat bought from hunters and preparing two French-style venison stews.
After 7 days working, I trimmed meat ‘til past midnight to take a nice day off to visit some dolmens in the area.
Martin and Edith are looking for someone deeply involved in the experience. Unfortunately, I felt like I was disturbing them whenever I wanted to talk to them about anything and I couldn't reach them even when I started joking after Martin said that half of what he says is not serious.

Armel joined us on our farm for a 10-day volunteer stint, and while it was a slow start, he ultimately left a positive impression, particularly with his contributions in the kitchen.
During a busy period of processing hundreds of kilos of meat, Armel demonstrated diligence and skill, which we greatly appreciated.
His ability to handle such
… read more demanding tasks was commendable and made a significant impact on our workload.
That said, we noticed that Armel seemed to bring his own world with him, which at times made it feel like he wasn’t fully present to embrace the farm experience. This stood in contrast to many of our past volunteers, who have immersed themselves more deeply in the environment on offer.
From our perspective, Armel comes across as a spiritual, intellectual, and emotional seeker, which is admirable, but we hope he can find a way to balance his inner quests with the social environment provided by his hosts.

I had the chance to stay with Edith and Martin on their farm for 2 months (august and July) as my first Workaway experience. it was such a wonderful time.
From very early on, Edith and Martin treated me and made me feel like family. They are both extremely kind hearted, open minded and generous individuals I'm super glad to have had the chance
… read more to meet and live with. They are surprisingly active and love to laugh which makes them a joy to be around.
While I was there, the main projects we worked on related to catching and irrigating water from the rainy seasons into swales. One of my favorite aspects of working on this farm was being involved in the creative process and talking through ideas with Martin. We made a good team and regularly built upon the others' idea to create what stands there today. Being involved in this step of the process not only helped me better understand and learn more from everything we were doing, but also added a layer of engagement that made the projects even more fulfilling.

She doesn’t only tell you what to do but she will also spend time telling you how to do it. She will give you all the tips & tricks to finish the job with utmost perfection. I
