  Beschreibung

  Hi! We’re Crissy, Niels and our three-year-old little one Luca. In spring 2026, we swapped life in the Netherlands for a new adventure in the Portuguese countryside.
  
  We now live , our piece of land (1.5ha) in Central Portugal, 20 minutes from Tomar, 15 minutes from Agroal, and surrounded by olive trees, fruit trees and lots of nature. We’re slowly bringing this beautiful old quinta back to life, renovating the house, creating a fruit forest, caring for the land and building a yoga deck.
  
  There’s always something happening here: planting, pruning, harvesting, building, painting, fixing things or turning another forgotten corner into something beautiful. We love good food, being outdoors, sharing meals and stories, and learning more about Portuguese life along the way.
  
  “Farm of the Smile” - that’s pretty much what we hope to create here: a welcoming, down-to-earth place where people can enjoy nature, good company and the simple things in life.

  Kultureller Austausch und Lernmöglichkeiten

  We’d love Workawayers to become part of daily life at the finca while they’re here. On working days, we have lunch together; a nice moment to sit down, share food, stories and get to know each other. With four help days a week, you’ll also have three days off to relax, explore the area or head off on your own adventures.
  
  We’re still quite new to Portugal ourselves, so we’re discovering the culture, language and traditions along the way. We have lovely Portuguese neighbours and enjoy being part of local life; from long Portuguese lunches to helping with the grape and olive harvest.
  
  We’re happy to share what we’re learning about renovating an old quinta, growing food and creating a new life in Portugal. Crissy is also a yoga teacher, so there might be an occasional yoga session too!
  
  At the same time, we love meeting people from different countries, hearing their stories and exchanging skills, ideas and experiences.

  Arbeit

  There’s always plenty to do, and the help changes with the seasons. We’re looking for people who enjoy being outdoors, getting their hands dirty and helping us bring this place back to life.
  
  At the moment, we especially welcome help with maintaining and developing our 1.5 ha of land: planting and caring for fruit trees, pruning, clearing and preparing the land.
  
  There are also plenty of practical projects around the quinta, from painting and small renovation projects to building simple walls, creating paths and improving outdoor spaces. If you have experience with gardening, permaculture DIY, that’s always a big plus!

  Unterkunft

  You’ll stay in our cosy holiday cottage on the quinta, so you’ll have plenty of privacy and your own space to relax. The cottage has a spacious bedroom, a private bathroom and your own fully equipped kitchen.
  
  Outside, you’ll also have your own little seating area in the garden; perfect for a morning coffee, reading a book or simply enjoying the peace and quiet of the Portuguese countryside.
  
  The cottage is right here on the quinta, close to our house, but gives you the freedom to enjoy your own space.
  
  Travelling with your own campervan? You’re also very welcome to park and stay on our land if you prefer.
  
  We work together four days a week and share lunch on those working days. We provide ingredients and a private kitchen for our Workawayers for the other moments.

  Was noch ...

  The fince is in the peaceful Portuguese countryside, so having your own transport is a big plus. Public transport in our area is very limited, and bringing a car or your own campervan will give you much more freedom to explore the region on your days off.
  
  We work together four days a week and share lunch on those working days. The other three days are yours to relax, explore and make your own plans. During the weekends, we usually enjoy our own family time, so this is a great fit if you enjoy having the freedom to explore and unwind.
