Beschreibung
We need help operating our well located, safe and comfy hostel in Latacunga downtown, and we are more than happy to also help with information about excursions and Spanish language practice while you volunteer with us.
This is the strategic site, near the park where we grew up downtown, again in need of life and culture. From here, once a week or so we visit a magical piece of land right in front of the beautiful Toachi canyon where we have a house to accommodate our guests. We have been involved with the tourism industry for many years and we help tourists find transport, bicycles, guides, and the best nature spots in The Quilotoa Loop, Cotopaxi volcano and surrounding areas.
We donate some of our income to our community and sometimes we go to help to a rescued dog shelter and two old life-long farmers.Arten von Hilfe und Lernmöglichkeiten

You can learn Spanish, highlands farming, Ecuadorian cuisine and local customs.
You can also explore the mountains and markets with us, learning about camping, basic geography of Ecuador, local products and the amazing hiking trails of our area.Arbeit
If you like helping the community, and traditional farming, we are waiting for you. We hike a lot and donate some of our income from tours and other services to a local elderly farmer, or to the dog shelter which feeds and walks 147 rescued dogs 7 days of the week to help them be able to play with kids, teenagers and adults and be adopted one day. Please help us to make them happy, raise funds and play with them. A future goal is also to prevent bites to hikers in the Quilotoa Loop Trails through education and raising awareness.
We also need a lot of hands helping our big hostel downtown. It is a quiet place but we are happy to have many visitors and welcome them as a family house.Sprachen

I teach English to local workers of the tourism industry and they are happy to learn. I would like to teach Spanish while getting some help building materials for future lessons.Unterkunft

We are strategically located in the heart of the Andes, Latacunga - Cotopaxi. About 2h30 minutes away from Quito International Airport, 1h30 from Quilotoa crater Lake and 1h. away from Cotopaxi National Park.
Public transport to us is available everyday, taxi from Latacunga bus terminal is $1.50 and from Paso Lateral Latacunga - Pujilí is $4 or $5.
If you like hiking and nature, we could easily organize trips to the mountains, the highlands´ cloud forest, or go visit my cousin with his archaeology project and crazy nature reserve in progress, Cotopaxi province hidden treasure.
Hiking around Isinliví is also beautiful and we highly recommend it. It is a great way to acclimatize before climbing the big volcanoes, there are many self guided hikes you can do here and a lot of time to be creative.
We like promoting our friends´ businesses in the area and we are happy to facilitate information and discounts on trips and other services.Etwas mehr Information

Yes, I think it would be a nice and safe place to work a bit and take a stroll downtown. Food in the area is quite cheap and nice if you know where to go. And there´s a nice cafe to work from (Coffee Roots).

The work was consisting mostly of feeding, cleaning and cuddling doggos. Sometimes there was some weed to whack, a roof to build or the pump to fix. All in all, basic physical work which made me appreciate the relaxation by the fireplace in the evenings.
