    About Us & the Location

Set in a beautiful mountain valley in the Lake District, our historic property sits in the same landscape that inspired Wordsworth’s famous poetry. We host one Workawayer at a time who enjoys practical, hands-on tasks and being part of a small, warm, international team.

There are innumerable walks from the door leading to valleys, waterfalls and lakes. We have wonderful gardens and 31 acres of private woodland, making this a perfect location for those who love nature, conservation, creativity or simply peaceful surroundings.

We are a 10-minute walk from Grasmere village, where you’ll find shops, a small supermarket, cafés, restaurants and excellent transport links for exploring the wider area.

Tasks vary by season and can include a mixture of indoor and outdoor projects to support the upkeep of the house, gardens and woodland. This may involve light decorating, simple maintenance jobs, organising spaces, or assisting with general outdoor work such as tidying pathways or helping with woodland care.

All tasks are non-professional, but we do require someone who is confident with tools and has some previous DIY or maintenance experience.

Hours are typically 2–3 hours per day, 5 days a week, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the landscape and local attractions.

We look forward to hearing from you and providing further information.
