I’m Anna, a truth seeker, that had explored the world intensly all my life. I am trying to settle in Finland right now, after being mostly on the road for a decade. I was teaching yoga, reiki and meditation in different retreats (and had a school in India for six years) all over the world until two years ago. Also did healings and councelings, published guided meditation CD’s and one book. In 2017 I was shown what's behind all the new age spirituality, had an earth shaking super natural experience and two months after having received the title "ambassador of yoga" from the president of Yoga Alliance international, I stopped everything and walked away from it all.
I am also a photographer having done some travel photography, but what I was really passionate about, was documenting crises regions and social problems around third world countries. So I was sent to Haiti for rebuilding projects, Nepal to document orphanages around the country, India to document abandoned widows and human trafficing, etc. etc. Always wanted to help people in any way I could. As well as animals. I have a 13 year old son, and together we started dog projects and volunteered in a few animal sancuaries both in Thailand and India. My son speaks 3 languages fluently, and together we have traveled and couchsurfed in 6 different continents and hosted an equal amount at home (wherever that had been at times).
Now we have a place in central Helsinki, in Kallio (the trendiest neighborhoods in Helsinki), that just had a pipe renovation, so it needs to be painted and put new floors in , as they opened most of the walls and floors during it. So, looking for adventurous people for help and having fun with while getting it ready :) I am new to workaway, but like mentioned earlier, have hosted a lot of people through couchsurfing and they have all loved staying with us, and become good friends.
After the Helsinki flat is done, (maybe mid June) I will also need help in getting an unfinished house in the country side done. I think in the beginning we could still live in Helsinki for part of the time and go work there long days for part of the week, and then in Helsinki you could just have free time hunging out and enjoying the city. Then when it's a bit more ready, we could all live there. Right now, I already have some people coming there for July, so maybe we could have a little travellers community going on there. The place is by a lake, about 35 km from Tampere, the second biggest city in Finland. You can borrow my car, and together we could visit both Tampere and Helsinki, when we have days off. When the house is more ready, it will have four bedrooms, so depending on how many workdays there will be at the time, it's a possibility to have your own private room. There the second floor needs to be built (my dad will be there sometimes to instruct) from scratch and also there is some yard work that needs some attention. This is all pretty new to me, but I'm excited to tackle the task and learn as I go.
You would be staying in central helsinki, in a cool area, walking distance from all sights and interests, with someone that has been around and seen a lot of diverse things. I can give lots of good travelling trips both for Finland and the rest of the world. If you need a car, you can borrow mine. I'm a very good cook, so you'd enjoy my meals, and if you want to spend some time on the Finnish country side (weekend trips for example), my family owns a great place on a private island that we could visit.
Help for putting new laminate floors, getting rid of the old wallpaper and painting walls and ceilings. Work together 4 hours a day, and according to your own schedule. Whatever interesting things you have going in Helsinki - you do that, and when there is time, we work together :)
Finnish & English fluently. Some Swedish and German not so fluently
Private room in a central flat in Helsinki. But you can of course use the whole flat, and my car as well.
Everything worth seeing in Helsinki is within a walking distance, but if you don't want to walk, all transportation is available from very near (trams, buses, metro)... I have a car that you can borrow, if you have a license. From Helsinki, there are also ferries (that are more like cruise lines) to Stockholm (Sweden), Tallinn (Estonia) and St.Petersburg (Russia) and they are quite cheap. Definitely recommend a visit, while staying in Helsinki. Also Finnish country side is super beautiful, especially during the summer time, and you can borrow my car to take short trips around..
