Dale and Lise were wonderful. I reached out to find last minute Workawayers in my region because I had come to my house in Sicily without friends this time so I was feeling a bit lonely. I needed some help with some projects and they were super.
They were congenial and helpful and supportive. We went on a short hike together and even went out to

I was happy to show them a little bit of the local culture with the cheese making right across the road. They are delightful and I hope we will remain friends.
Marcy was a kind-hearted and generous host. We enjoyed our brief stay with her before venturing out to discover other parts of Sicily.
It was a pleasure meeting and working with Marcy. We admire her determination and diligence in restoring what was an abandoned, ramshackle of a house that was once full of all avenues of water damage and was barely visible from the lane due to overgrowth of bramble weed and olive trees in dire need of pruning. Of course by the time we saw it, it

Our tasks were very reasonable in their physical demands and there was lots of opportunity to apply our own skill sets. Marcy was always concerned that we didn't over do it. Marcy was also open to any suggestions or input regarding the tasks at hand.
Marcy is a delightful person and we highly recommend her as a Workaway Host.
Bob and Chris were good workers and helped accomplished several important tasks on my "To Do While in Sicily this Time" list. Chris who cooks for a living made a several healthy and delicious meals. They bought much of their own food as they had preferences. Had I realized Chris had artistic talent I would have been better prepared with paint for
… read more a project she helped design. Chris was a delightful morning walking companion and took me out of my comfort zone by walking even farther along these rural roads than I had done previously. She shares my love of "Litter Aerobics" and we cleared several miles along my road. She willingly wore the orange safety vest I suggest we wear walking along the mountain roads.
Chris completed the removal many volunteer sprouts and long the base of my 8 olive trees...a task that took several hours for sure. She also painted the window frames along the terrace side of the house and saved me at least $50 by assuring me we had plenty of paint left for the otherside.
Although Bob was clearly exasperated with me on a couple of occasions his suggestion to use the reclaimed wall tiles I had in the garden as the tiles for the kitchen backsplash paid off. Chris mapped out a wonderful pattern and once installed by a local craftsman this was a cost effective and creative way to accomplish another task on my list. I hope to add photos of our accomplishments.
Bob is a "stick to it" kind of guy...much like I am...so once he delved into a project he kept going until it was completed. This meant breaking down a mountain of olive branches to be used in the pizza oven, repairing a broken PVC pipe for the outdoor kitchen, using cement to seal along the foundation/sidewalk. I am sure there were other things they did.
Both Bob and Chris were respectful by smoking at the end of the driveway where they could sit and view the beautiful mountainside. I did not ask this of them, yet appreciated their doing so.

Our Workaway experience with Marcy has been wonderful. Within a few days sharing her projects, cooking together, working on her house of Trabia, walking to clean the small roads around, talking about our lives, she became our friend.
I could not say enough good things about Sebastien and Charlotte. They are delightful as people and worked to accomplish several tasks on my "Things to Do while in Sicily this Time" list. It was like having your best friends come over for a few days to hangout and getting a few things done to boot.

Sebastien took up where a previous Workawayer left off by first clearing the crack of weeds and debri then using cement to seal along the foundation/sidewalk. This he did over a couple of days and it was perfect. He then attacked the dangerous brambles with gusto and removed a large section of them from the garden.
I am trying to learn Italian he taught me a few new words that are very useful when speaking with people. We played Scrabble a couple of nights and they taught me a dice game. They each have a great sense of humor and are honest ethical people who I enjoyed totally. As a former history teacher Sebastien brings both knowledge of the past and an enthusiasm to learn more. We enjoyed many conversations with others who were visiting from various places.
Because they were with my for my birthday they brought a traditional French cake as a surprise and Sebastien made chocolate mousse for dessert.
Great workers and great people who I hope remain in my circle of friends for a lifetime.Feedback
