I am a mother of two wonderful children who are 15 and 10 years old. I used to sing, dance and produce shows while living in Montreal, Canada. Coming from a family of artists, I don't need to tell you that music is very important in our lives.
My other passion is to work with people and especially kids. I worked as a social worker with teenage girls and helped them to find jobs, to do their homework , building up self esteem & self confidence, solving daily problems & working through chores, give positive energy and help them find what’s important for their life.
More than five years ago we decided to leave Montreal and move closer to nature, to seek what's important in life... understanding REAL life, family and the importance of community...back to the roots.
In Jamaica we live peacefully, near Anchovy city. Here we are close to the community and that is exactly what attracted us about life in Jamaica and especially in the mountains.
We love life and the people it allows us to meet. Our place is a home of honesty, love, respect and listening.
Hope to make you enjoy our environment.

I created the project over five years ago. The idea of connecting the simple Jamaican country lifestyle with community work, the beautiful nature and tourism, grew over the last few months. And in order to bring the real Jamaica to tourists, support local farmers and the community and give volunteers the time of their life in Jamaica, we recruited community members, former volunteers, guests and friends from all over the world to join us in the project. A small team has formed and together with YOU we want to make it happen.
In the past, I created a recycling project in the neighborhood (you can still see the photos) but the circumstances of life, sometimes sad, lead us to leave some things behind to acquire better in the future. That's what I did!
Indeed, I left the place for Comfort Hall where I can receive more guests and more volunteers. That's what makes me happy to see people happy.
But since I'm starting again, the project is starting as well.
We have to rebuild bamboo cabins, rebuild the outdoor toilet, trace the path for the pedestrian hikes. in parallel
we must take care of the more numerous guests; clean the rooms, the sheets, serve our guests ...
I am also looking for teachers in languages (no need to be a professional) several inhabitants of my new district requested it; Spanish, French Italian ...
I also organize several activities as group outings for locals who do not really leaves their Parish; produce the advertisements, organize the outings, plan the transport, entertain the guests, accompany them during the excursions ...
I also have fun days for children where we will have to organized games for them; relay race, makeup ...
Finally, I have a classic evening once a month where we receive several people around the bar; clean the sites, cut the grass, arrange the tables, prepare the appetizers, serve, entertain our guests ...
It's a lot you will say, not at all, in Montreal, Eden or Comfort Hall, we don't do anything without having fun. It's always the party here!!!
Everyone is welcome, I need all kind of skilled and willing workers. I don't just want to take qualified workers because I think we all learn from each other and every person will bring something new and good into the project.
But I don’t just want to leave it like that. i have many ideas which just need to be made real. Tree houses,
Outdoor kitchen, chill out area...furniture , decoration – all made by hand with as many natural resources we can find.
We want to be creative together!
When I will be receiving a large amount of people, we will need help to assist tourists during their stay and also I will need sometime a translator or just someone to entertain them.
After your five days of work, you will get a free time/holiday on the weekends to do whatever, like travel Jamaica, go to beaches, visit attractions etc. We can also organize tours for you. Do not worry about not having company, expenses or whatever, coming here provides you with a family as often we have many workers at the same time, and of course the team and locals. What is fun when there are many workers is that, on your weekends you can organize trips as a group, which means more fun and less spending.
The surrounding is calm and peaceful, but at the same time has a nice night vibe, it is close enough to the city, for your needs and all, but far enough for it not to be too hectic.
We might have place in the house, when you'll contacting me I'll know
warm Sleeping Bag / Blanket (it can get very chilly some nights)
Tent (if you have)
Air mattress / camping mattress
coffee if you are a coffee drinker (as it is very expensive here and we can’t afford to provide that yet)
Tobacco if you roll your own cigarettes (its nowhere to be found in Jamaica)
Things we need:
All what you don't need in your house and you think it could have another life here just bring it
Tools for building
Cups and bowls
Old Phone/IPhone with SIM
Telescope (since we move to our new site, the starts are prettier)
Boxing gloves (we want to build a boxing ring for as an activity for the kids)
Anything you think it will be welcome here
Feel free to suggest things you think of bringing, trust me anything is appreciate in Jamaica.
Here we are surrounded by: goats, cows, rabbits, laying hens and other animals. We wish to have more and create a pleasant environment for them.
Starting on the day of arrival you will be on probation for 5 days if there is something that does not please us as your attitude, your behavior, work not done, etc. We will ask you to leave our project but we'll help you find something else in the same city or elsewhere.
NEW IN THE PROJECT!:
We are looking for persons who enjoy or have experience in teaching languages other than English, but you must know English well as you will be teaching Jamaicans or other foreigners.
Persons who can teach art or are good in that field are needed as well.
We are in association with a neighbouring teaching school, so we want to offer services for both our business and the school. Creative minds and people who are able to make crafty objects would be great too.
Apart from the things above we are open to any type of teaching or people with any talent or skill at all.
With all the neighbouring communities, the volunteers and love and respect for one another we want to build something great so we can show the world what a beautiful country Jamaica is.
Contact us for further Information.
You will learn the real Jamaican life, the difficulties, the simplicity and more.
And we offer lots of love and smiles and a real Jamaican experience with local food all cook on wood fire (we have a chef) directly in the community.
We have a small bar at the property as well to help supporting the project. So you will hang out with locals and others foreigners. If you are a party person, the bar is made for you, especially at nights. There you can socialize with fellow workers, tourists and locals. If you are more of a relaxed person, the ambiance will be as enjoyable, as you can stay on the site read, contemplate stars, sit at a fireside, sleep, hang your hammock etc.

More than two
5 hours/ day 5 days a week
In developing countries (Where most hosts are involved in charity work or community development) some of our hosts may ask for a small donation to help the host family or charity (often less then 5 dollars per day) Workaway will allow this listing when the donation goes directly to the family or charity and is just to cover the cost of the volunteers stay. (This will be clearly marked on the host listing).
We will strictly not allow listings posted by agents, “middle men” or projects who we feel are looking to profit from a volunteers stay.
