    Description

Welcome to our non profit organization, which has been active since 2011. This works as a social cultural hub for creatives, activists, enterprenes , as well as professional and amateur artists all over the world, which we host during the whole year and contribute to the unique atmosphere surrounding this place. We are located in Epanomi, Thessaloniki. To our suburb location which we slowly renovate with our own hands and lots of volunteers over time and a zero waste, energy free approach .

We are located outside of the city Thessaloniki. Thessaloniki is the second biggest city in Greece, and offers a vibrant life, with many young people due to the many universities. More, we are very lucky to have the beach only an minutes away from us.
We always need volunteers who help us working on the place and fill it with life, energy and ideas!
Feel free to scroll through our profile and pictures. Contact us for any questions you might have 😊 We are looking forward to hear from you.
    Bedirhan and Dionisis

    MISSION STATEMENT
This is mostly a self-funded sociο-cultural hub initiative. Itis a vision, an idea, a place of culture, a shelter or even better a home for theatre, music, plastic arts, dance, movies, literature and every form of creative expression. But above all it’s a space where we still dream, we imagine and we create.

Our aim is to support creatives, amateurs, visionaries, nurture and culture collaborations, build bridges of mobility, support learning for people of all ages and backgrounds, promote modern culture and all of the above in a space that is open and accessible to all without prejudice, in a building which is considered one of the most important industrial monuments of Greece, the old FIX brewery.

It is a non-profit arts and culture community on a quest to enhance and promote artistic expression and opportunities that protects education, inclusivity, anti-oppression,non violence, well being and peace while cultivating a community committed to this lifestyle.

It is structured in a way that is designed to involve three broader communities: creative audience, local artists and international artists. To achieve this, we have formed a dynamic community consisting of people of different personalities, nationalities, ages, educational levels and orientations.

As we connect, form synergies and learn how to work collectively, we create the conditions for the building to become a common good: a vibrant center where the involved parties can communicate their social and artistic actions.Within the old beer brewery we currently have two venues, a black box undeground theatre and a venue rigged with 10 rigging points for aerial arts.

    Our work here

We depend very much on volunteers, which are also our target group. With all of you, we are able to keep on doing what we love. We constantly host volunteers helping us around and contribute with their skill, talent or personality to this place.
Members of the organization, include people who have experience and expertise in the organization, implementation and monitoring of festivals, conferences, bilateral and multilateral projects, but also people with a university education, including Education and Social Policy graduates: Adult Education (Specialist in Continuing education and Consulting), Law, Psychology, Literature, Social Worker and other specialties that are necessary when one deals with young people.

Our priority of needs are :
    - Cleaning - Maintenance of the space
    - Cooking
    - Organising our storage spaces

The ideal workawayer profile is someone who is pro active, motivated and able to work independently on given tasks. The basic tasks for all workawayers include the house maintenance each day.
For this period we have a need for people that they know their way around the kitchen and love to cook .
Minimum 3-month stay for workaway volunteers.

HOW DOES A TYPICAL DAY GO ?

The day begins with everyone contributing to the daily cleaning / maintenance of the space (it takes around 45 minutes ) which is then followed by our community task of the day (something we tackle all together, be it making marmelade , preparing pickles, organising a storage, or deep cleaning our kitchen, the variety of tasks is endless.)

COOKING - Everyone cooks on rotation for the team, like that we get to experience different cultures influences and tastes. We cook mostly vegetarian.

We have 3 dogs, 1 cat . Having said that when joining our team one has to be an animal lover.

We are experimenting with an urban garden so taking care of the garden is also a task that can be assigned.

We are volunteering at the central fruit market , helping in sorting fruit and vegetables that would end up in the landfill to be salvaged and donated to social structures in the city

We hope to initiate a Social Kitchen project

    More additional tasks opportunities:

    - Handy men/women are always welcome, who want to help to fix things at the studio. Fixing chairs, building out of pallets, building raised bed gardens, etc. If you are handy with tools and creation, skilled and known for being a fixer-upper, we would love to hear from you!

    Accommodation
You will have a four bed room shared with the other volunteers. The living area, bathroom and kitchen are also shared. This also includes the library, theatre room, dancing room, internet access and so on. More, you will have three meals a day.

    Volunteering hours expected
Generally our workawayers will spend one hour per day on the house maintenance, one hour on the additional project (e.g. theatre room). and the remaining time is organised with tasks during our weekly co ordination meeting. We host a weekly skillshare meeting, and we hope a monthly bbq soon :)
We also have a reflection meeting every 2 weeks to touch base on how we feel, where we are creatively and anything else that feels that it needs to be addressed.
During the shifts there are some tasks that are assigned based on the current needs of the project. We try to fit in the workshops within the shifts time and usually when one gets acquainted with the space, thousands of ideas come up on how to better use the shift times. More, we encourage you to fill the time with creative activities.
In the past our workawayers used our theatre room to give each other dancing lessons, made photo shoots around the place, had a movie night, painting, drawing etc always with co ordination with the community manager. Of course you can also use them for you personally, reading, watching movies, painting, etc.
With our past workawayers we have been working on a schedule, which suits all workawayers. If you are interested in staying with us for a while, we are happy to organize a skype meeting and share the template with you.
