My name is Abel supporting my community with our growing school addresses the need for community empowerment amongst the marginalized and vulnerable people of Eastern Uganda.
Our primary focus is to holistically rehabilitate and restore victims of social injustice. We enable communities through primary and secondary education, vocational training and income generating activities, palliative care and financial development support for peasant farmers.
Providing proper primary services to orphaned and underprivileged children and youths in our community.
Our association has resorted to collecting the children and giving them a better living as compared to that they have had before and give them education. By helping the absolute poorest of the poor we can make a great impact on the society and decrease the poverty burden in Mbale and the country at large.
Uganda has no government infrastructure established to care for orphaned and abandoned children. Only Non-government organizations are the source of help for them.
HIV/AIDS pandemic is increasing by affecting the lives of children in Sub Saharan Africa. By 2001, Uganda had reported 1.1% orphans under 15 years of age and this kind of phenomenon continues to affect the rest of Sub Saharan Africa. Despite the awareness being carried out, the HIV infection is still prevalent, high and evidently seen in urban and rural areas of Uganda.
The crisis has therefore, threatened development activities in past years and years to come as well.
However, children and youths are the most vulnerable since many of them are orphaned or even infected by the disease. This has led to their rights violations since the children and youths do not have a choice especially when they are orphaned. Therefore, there is an urgent need to adopt mechanisms needed to support these OVCs and OVYs. We see these both as a valuable end in itself and a long term means to promote more cohesive considerate and creative individuals/societies with equal opportunities and rights for all.
This pushed to the formation of this association to help in reducing literacy levels through provision of primary education support/care to orphan and under privileged children. Since the 80’s when the HIV/AIDS was realized in Uganda, it has claimed lives of millions of people and as a result, over 6.5 million children have been left orphaned in Uganda. The distress and depression upon these children is so great that they are put in a position of rejection and self-pity. They suffer from increasing displacement, marginalization, dissolution of family protection and segregation from the community making them feel they are an economic burden thus they fall behind educationally and even socially. This has tended to have lifelong effects on their development leading to a generation of no hope for tomorrow.

(This will be clearly marked on the host listing).
We will strictly not allow listings posted by agents, “middle men” or projects who we feel are looking to profit from a volunteers stay.
