    Description

We are a large animal rescue in County Kildare who always need willing helpers.

There’s a very good bus service to Dublin and other parts of the country if you want to explore on your days off.

The rescue organisation is very busy and full of energy, we regularly have emergencies to attend and new animals arriving constantly, visits to the veterinary hospital, and sometimes have to deal with severe cases of neglect. It is not for the faint hearted, but it is incredibly rewarding. People who enjoy this type of help have lots of energy and enjoy getting hands on experience with large numbers of animals of all varieties. We have many horses, Shetland ponies and donkeys, pigs, goats and lots of dogs.
It is hard and tiring help but very rewarding.
All the volunteers are a great bunch of people, very friendly and helpful.
It’s noisy and full on most days. Always people in and out.

It is very important that you speak some English. Winter you would need warm clothes and warm boots/wellingtons.

We have a no meat policy because most Volunteers are vegetarian or vegan.

The farm is a busy happy place 💕

We have a bustling rescue centre where many volunteers come to help out as a team. They will learn about how to treat injuries, basic vet nursing, handling horses, gaining trust, equine nutrition.

  • Help

    Help

We are looking for three types of volunteers.
We need 10 physically fit volunteers able to help with animals, muck out, water, feed, help with fencing, all the tasks needed on horse farms.
We also need one or two volunteers to help in the house. Cleaning, organising, making beds, cleaning cupboards, perhaps making simple lunch for all the volunteers.
As a busy farm, we are also looking for some handy volunteers. People who can fix fences and do general yard and house diy projects. You never know what needs doing.

Please let me know in your message which type you are interested in.

A lot of team spirit is needed and the ability to communicate is important.
    Good English is essential.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

The opportunity to travel is great. We also have regular buses to the West of Ireland from our nearest village and to Dublin. The area has canal and forest walks but own transport would be advised for real exploration as we are a volunteer based rescue and don't take time off personally.
Great if you have a car but not essential.
Travellers from some countries may require a work visa. Please check if this is a requirement with your country.
