Though we're only an hour from Barcelona, in other sense we're a world away from what most people are used to. We live amongst the social and open Catalan people whose families have lived here for a dozen generations. The traditions here are rich and vibrant. The people love their fun and colorful "festas" (fiestas, parades, parties, carnivals) full of music, dance and fireworks. The culinary traditions are just as rich. Throughout the year the cuisine rotates through a diverse palette of colors and tastes that takes full advantage of the wild pickings and locally hunted foods. People are generally excited to meet someone from abroad, pepper you with questions, and invite you in for merienda of charcuterie or pastries, or a mid-day meal of paella. You will meet people who work their family's vineyards and olive groves. You will meet older people who may only speak Spanish and Catalan (and sometimes French as well) and the younger generation that learns English in school but has little chance to practice it.
Help
This 500-year old mansion, former summer residence of Spanish noble family, has been renovated with the help of artists from around Europe. There are always projects - from patching walls and repainting to tiling. We also have a lovely enclosed courtyard that could use a green thumb. We have a truly special "bodega" (lots of wine was produced here) that could be turned into a very cool bar / chill out space.
The craftsmen and artists that have stayed here and contributed their talents and creativity over the years have made this a special space and we invite you to be part of that tradition as well.
We will have plenty of good food for hungry helpers, and look forward to great conversations over locally produced wine.Languages
