    Description

Our non-profit centre is located somewhere along an old walking path in the mountains of the Alpujarras, Spain. We want to offer a nourishment station for creatives and experts from a variety of intersecting fields. Our goal is to allow them to retreat from their everyday life, be able to reconnect with nature and their inner beings, and take part in the centre's vibrational wellness art program. Through research, exploration, ritual and play we aspire to develop new tools and environments to facilitate transformative experiences of healing, awareness, presence, liberation and joy. We wish to create a community of co-creators, coming together to share their gifts, knowledge and wisdom. So we can explore and celebrate together the beauty and mystery of life.

Our current home is a transformed water mill, The Molino. It was used to mill a range of different products over its lifetime and was powered by the ever flowing water streams running down the mountain; the waterwheel that it used is still in place on the side of the mill. It is placed between two streams that create a beautiful environment where you feel connected to the elements.

Up on the rise nearby is the Land of the Caqui where our main outdoor activity space (used for dance, meditation and art installations….), and garden is. Our vegetable garden was planted this year; we have just taken a large harvest of tomatoes and made our own sauce. We strive to produce as much as we can onsite and what we can’t, we want to source locally.

Experience the unique day to day of living in an old mill and being part of a tiny artistic community in the mountains of southern Spain. Take part in the fiestas of Spain and the celebrations of the Jewish calendar. It's the most interesting cultural cocktail.

There are a variety of fields we need help with and it changes as our seasons change. If you have a skill that you believe could be beneficial and it's not listed below; please do get in touch.

Our kitchen is often the heart of the molino, with neighbors visiting and inspiration hitting in a meeting of the minds and well nourished bodies. It would be great to have lovers of cooking and kitchen creatives that will open our taste buds to different and new experiences. A nutritionist or someone with knowledge in nourishment and healthy food would be an excellent asset as we need to build a meal plan for future gatherings; using our gardens produce. We also have a stone oven that would be wonderful for someone wanting to flex their baking muscles.

A gardener or someone with a background in horticulture to help us maintain the vegetable garden and land and plan for its next sowing.

We are always in need of help with general housework and grocery shopping.

A handy person to help with fixing, installing and general maintenance around The Molino and the land of the Caqui.

    Also keen to talk to specialists to help with the production of projects. It would be great if you had experience with;

-Working with wood, metal or rope
    -Scramble/in tree net installation
    -Industrial design
    -Light and Video tech
    -Sound artists and designers
-Musicians and Dj, we are c
    -Eco Building, ephemeral architecture

Artists! Possibly ones who specialise in working with organic material, land art, outdoor installations, performance
    New Media, Interactive

Our mountain side is a wonderful place to sit and meditate. Maybe enjoy beholding Elephant Mountain on the other side of the valley. It would be great to be joined by a Meditation teacher; therapists of alternative medicine, including conscious dance facilitators and/or creators that would like to hold group sessions here, facilitate workshops and develop new tools of therapy, implementing the centre's unique approach of integration of art, wellness and design.

We are always happy to have musicians and DJs come and be inspired by the soundtrack that nature creates.

The Molino is a unique, off grid, residence and is divided into two main buildings, the house and the studio. The house has two sleeping areas and the main bathroom, with the most beautiful rock walled solar shower. It is heated on cooler days by a wood burning fire in the saloon. Although it is a basic and rustic building, it has its own luxurious minimalism; you will not find it wanting.

The studio has a bedroom in the westen end and toilet which is used by the people working in the studio during the day.
The Molino is a shared space and you would need to be considerate, as the person you would be sharing with, will be. If you have any questions or special requirements this can be discussed at your time of application.

The Land of the Caqui will soon be home to a new Tipi! Which will have mattresses and its own heating source once complete. It has access to a composting toilet and a very refreshing shower.

Food will be supplied; we eat a mostly vegetarian diet but are not opposed to eating some locally farmed or hunted meat.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

There is so much here to nourish. A main focus is on wellbeing so we recommend taking the time to enjoy the outdoors and take some walks to take in the beauty of the valley.

About a 500m walk from the Molino is the small village of Atalbeitar, which is a community of creatives from all over the world mixed with locals whose family ties to the village go back generations. It's a place where time moves differently and people want to take time to chat and exchange ideas. Every week fish and bread vans wind their way down the hill to keep everyone stocked with the staples. There are village fiestas held in the plaza, often with live music by the musicians of the village.-

At the Molino we practice daily meditation and Qigong. Qigong is a Chinese system of physical exercises and breathing control related to tai chi. We have someone onsite who has been training in the art for some time now and is always adding new exercise to her repertoire.

As we are in Spain, sietas are culturally acceptable and encouraged, you may find them helpful to reduce stress, help cardiovascular functions, and improve alertness and memory.

And last but far from least are two very important team members Gin and Zen, two delightful cats who enjoy cuddles and any sort of focused attention you are willing to give them.
