    Description

I am Tani, photographer, documentary filmmaker and textil artist.. I have my textil art brand and photography as my main jobs. I live in the San Miguel neighborhood in Lima near the airport. It is a residential/commercial and quiet area.
There are many smalls parks around, also 5 traditional markets nearby, 1 shopping center and cycle paths.

About the WorkAway Experience in My Home:

I want to clarify a few things about my WorkAway experience so that those who come to my home know what to expect and what not to.

First, I offer accommodation, a comfortable and welcoming place to stay, and I am open to sharing experiences, knowledge, and companionship. However, I want to be clear that I do not provide meals. Food expenses are shared among those who live in the house. The kitchen is fully equipped, and you will have access to everything you need.

Another very important aspect for me is the respect for coexistence. Keeping shared spaces clean and organized is essential, but this is not part of the volunteer work—it's simply what any person should do as part of living in a shared space. I expect WorkAway volunteers to treat my home with the same care and consideration as their own.

Water, electricity, and gas consumption increases with each additional person in the home. I ask you to be mindful of your usage and not take it for granted.

Regarding the volunteer work itself, the tasks vary depending on what I need at the time. Sometimes there is more work to do, sometimes less, and sometimes none at all. The idea is that we can coordinate together, and I always try to ensure that the work is fair and reasonable.

Now, I want to address a crucial issue. I have had some experiences with travelers that have made me rethink the kind of people I welcome. Some arrive with an attitude of economic superiority, making unnecessary comparisons between their country and Peru. I don't want volunteers who constantly compare local prices with those in their home country. Peru has its own economy, and not everything has to be cheaper just because it's a Latinoamérica country.

I do not tolerate condescending attitudes or the assumption that those of us who live here are trying to take advantage of foreigners economically. This type of thinking is a manifestation of privilege and a lack of respect for local reality.

Fairness is not about treating everyone equally, but about recognizing and respecting different realities. Prices, wages, and costs of living vary from place to place, and assuming that something "should" be cheaper just because of your own economic frame of reference is a privileged and narrow-minded way of thinking.

If you are someone who values cultural exchange, respects the reality of the place you are visiting, and is willing to be part of a fair and harmonious coexistence, then you are very welcome. But if you come with an attitude of entitlement or superiority, I prefer not to host you.

I believe in enriching and respectful exchanges, where both sides learn and benefit. If you align with this philosophy, I would be happy to receive you in my home.

For me, it’s important that travelers have enough time to adapt to the routine and atmosphere of the home. Therefore, I prefer minimum stays of two weeks. This allows both of us to get accustomed and have a more peaceful and harmonious cohabitation. I value the respect and responsibility of each person in the use of resources and general coexistence

    --

Soy Tani, fotógrafa, documentalista y artista textil..
