    Description

Hello, my name is Rani. I am working on a team consisting of me (leader), Uki (English teacher), Mrs. Heni ( English teacher), Alga (guide), and Bagus (guide). We are a small group who care about our town's educational system and social life. Simply put, you can say that we want change for the better in our community. Besides teaching at my own school, I also work in a government school. It is a quiet town, very close to both Yogyakarta and Solo. I have two daughters at home; my home also serves as a private school for teaching English and primary school lessons.

For my school, we desperately need fluent English speakers to help our kids reach their full potential. In exchange for helping me for a few hours, my friends and I will do our best to take you to see interesting and "un-touristy" sites around the Yogyakarta area. We are close to many local temples including the huge temple complex of Prambanan. We also take people on trips to local beaches and cultural centers like the shadow puppet and gamelan workshops.

We all work on a team that is related to teach English. Some of us are teachers, others are tourist guides. We will take you to both cultural and natural places such as seeing local hand art; there guests will learn how to make batik and lurik. We take guests to swim in the river's naturally clean water. If you wish, you can snorkel, because fish actually live in the river! We can take you cycling to native villages to see the inhabitants carrying out their many activities. There, you can see farmers plant and gather rice. You will also be able to see the buffaloes cultivate soil. Our town locally produces fresh "tahu" (tofu) and "soon" (rice noodle); guests can join the workers to see the process. Our town is near a floating restaurant where we can eat lunch or dinner while all enjoying the beautiful view of the mountainside!

In their spare time they will visit some cultural and historical places here and we will guide them for free. They also learn about the language " Bahasa Indonesia" also learn about how to play Gamelan music instrument together it is traditional music instrument from Central Java. Not only that they also learn about how to paint " batik " the Indonesian traditional cloth. They will join the batik class with the Professional batik actres here.

We are looking for people who are fluent in English that can help our shy students open their mouths to speak English! We generally ask for a few hours of help a day, making some conversations with our students. We teach different levels of students ranging from elementary to senior high school to adult students trying to improve their English. We have a good relation with schools around area.

We have started extracurricular programs in some schools that begin after formal lessons finish. There, we try our best to make the students open up! If you have any good ideas on how to teach English in a fun and creative way, please let us know. We can use more advice from our guests to make our students more fluent and confident in speaking English.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

Depending on the situation, we may or may not have space at our school. Thus, guests may stay in a home-stay near my school, which is about a 10 minutes walk away. You will get your own room with furniture and a private bath room as well. We offer local and home-cooked meals for our guests, but you also have the option to get food by yourself. We will show you interesting places at a discounted rate as well as providing traditional foods.

We also offer a bahasa class if you wish to learn bahasa indonesia for you to improve your knowledge about our language.

Well, it's better if we give you further information about how to get to our town, Klaten. If you go by plane from Jakarta, Surabaya, Bandung, or Denpasar (Bali), you have to stop at Yogyakarta (Adi Sucipto Airport). From Yogyakarta Airport you must take a train to Solo, then get off at Klaten Railway Station. It takes about 25 minutes to Klaten. We will pick you up at the railway station.

Ok, if you come to Klaten by bus, starting from Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Denpasar (Bali), you can get off at the Bus Terminal at Klaten, we will pick you up there.

If you need more information, ask me via email. We want all of our guests to feel comfortable and enjoy their experience with us.
