Description
You will be staying and working in a tiny town called Sutton - part of Otago that is the raw real Otago. This property is set on 10 acres with an older four bedroom house and a hall which used to be an old school. It is in need of restoration. The property is about an hour out of Dunedin on SH87 or 47 kms from Mosgiel. Situated 7kms from Middlemarch which is the beginning or end (depending on which way you go) from the Otago Rail Trail.
It is a short drive or a 15 minute walk to Sutton Salt Lake the only inland salt lake in NZ and it is a 3.5 km walk around the circumference approximately.
There is also the stunning Rock and Pillar Ranges which you look out to and you can walk up. There is also two huts to stay. It takes about 2.5 hours to reach the summit if you are fit. Cyclists you will also love it here.
The property does not have internet so you have to have data but does have great mobile reception.
I need people who know how to paint and take a lot of care; those with experience only as it needs to be a great job. The old hall used to be the old Sutton School so it is a very historical place and the whole property used to be run as a school camp for many years. At the moment it is very drab so the house and hall need to be painted and I need to make it look better as it has been neglected. There is also a bit of work where if you are a carpenter or handy person such as fixing the window sill etc that would be excellent.
Please only apply for this position if you really do know how to paint and do this kind of work, pull out the old carpet in the hall and scrap off the glue so we can get that look better too. There is a bit of rot in one of the windows and lots of gorse and weeds need pulling out in the back paddock.
I hope we can have some fun getting this done and you can work either half days 4.5 hours or a full day and then explore the next day or work half a day and explore for half a day.
Workers have shared bedrooms single beds 3 in each and female, male bathrooms, basic breakfast either oats, Weetbix, toast, tea, coffee.
Sandwhich and fruit for lunch

1-2 weeks is preferable but as I said please need the right workers for these positions with attention to detail as it needs to be a professional type job. When contacting me please let me know what you can offer and what you want out of this

I have a teaching background so happy to converse and help you with your english conversation. This property is set on 10 acres and is an old area that has a rich gold history, fabulous museum in Middlemarch, very rural and raw Otago so not the usual tourist place you would go to. Lovely trees, landscape.

There are no shops nearby except for a very small basic shop in Middlemarch. There is also a cafe and hotel/restaurant/pub with basic food in Middlemarch. Taieri River is a popular fishing spot, hike the Rock and Pillar, walk the salt lake and explore the other areas. Visit Dunedin for the day. Otago Rail Trail (cyclists) is 7 kms away.
