… read more très calme, très chaleureux et connaît très bien l'agriculture et sa région. Marco a très bien expliqué les travaux pour lesquels il avait besoin d'aide. J'ai apprécié travailler avec Béatrice et Marco, mais j'ai surtout apprécié passer du temps avec eux. Ils ont été très patients avec moi, car je parlais français, et très encourageants pour m'aider à progresser. Même si je n'y suis restée qu'une semaine, cela m'a semblé bien plus long et j'aimerais beaucoup y retourner bientôt. Merci Béatrice et Marco.

Ils m'ont traitée comme un membre de la famille, m'ont fait participer aux réunions de famille ou aux dîners entre amis.
Les travaux à l'intérieur et à l'extérieur de la maison étaient gérables pour moi - désherber, refaire le chalet après les clients, mettre la table, charger le lave-vaisselle, donner un coup de main pour la cuisine, etc.
La communication n'était pas des plus facile en raison de mon manque de français, mais Béa et Marco ont fait tout ce qu'il fallait. Ils parlaient lentement ou expliquaient les tâches à plusieurs fois si je ne les comprenais pas pour la première fois. Et quand c'était totalement désespéré, on en juste riait :D
Merci pour les vélos que j'ai reçus pendant le week-end - j'étais contente de découvrir Romans-sur-Isere et le Jardin des Fontaines Pétrifiantes à La Saone.

Il y a des workawayers que nous reverrions avec plaisir et Helena en fait partie.

Beatrice and Marco always helped to improve my French. They spoke slower for me, and used other way to explain when I couldn't understand. I spoke more French within 3 weeks than the past 3 months.
I will recommend staying with Beatrice and Marco to people looking for the cultural experience instead of just a place to stay.

… read more helped with chopping wood, watering trees, picking raspberries from the garden, changing out linens in the BnB) or you may help with Beatrice with cooking. She makes the most spectacular food--you should try to learn some of her recipes (if she lets you know her secrets, that is).
We felt very integrated into their lives and family. When one of us became sick, we felt well taken care of. We were able to attend a music festival with their daughter, Mathilde, and her friends. Their son and his girlfriend nicely took us to see a wonderful nearby monument and and gave us an education in French pizza.
We took bike rides to nearby medieval towns, played Skyjo into the late hours of the night, and learned about all the local cheeses. If we could have stayed longer, we would have! You will come away with lots of memories and at least one picture of you driving a tractor.
The days had a reliable schedule , which worked well with our virtual jobs.

The work was varied and enjoyable, especially if you like spending time outdoors and cooking. You usually work along side either Bea or Marco, so you always know what to do and you can converse throughout.
This experience is perfect for those who want to feel integrated into a French countryside family experience - there aren't hard lines between when the "work" finishes and "off-time" begins, it's more of an organic system, with lots of time spent together. Bea and Marco were open to me spending some time alone as well, so that I could explore the beautiful region on my own, and often gave advice of routes to take and things to see. They really live in a wonderful and peaceful part of France, and the house is stunning and very cosy as well.

What I liked the most of this workaway was the opportunity to experience the French culture and life in a Family. Eating together in the French way, speaking French, enjoying company and taking part at local events. Also, Béa is an exquisite cook and you can learn a lot working together with her in the kitchen.
In terms of working tasks, I had to do a lot of different tasks like building a terrace, planting trees, building a hutch for chicken, cutting wood, helping with the rearrange of things, cleaning tasks around the house, do the shopping for the week and of cores cooking. The work is very variety and you can learn a lot in the process.
Béa and Marco are always open to questions and the helped me a lot with learning French. Also, in the second week of my stay I got ill and they support me in this time as well.

I am probably forgetting a few projects but all of these things we did together, either with Marc or Béa, and had a good laugh whilst doing so.
In your down time you can expect to go on some walks, maybe hikes! Explore the Vercours mountains and surrounding towns. Play board games, mostly SKYJO ( make sure not to be too good at this game ;0 ). Eat some delicious meals and baking, meet their lovely family and friends and generally have a good time!
If you are looking to improve your French, this is a great place to be and I really can't recommend it highly enough.

This was my first Workaway experience. I spent two wonderful weeks with Marc and Béatrice. They are very kind, generous and fun. The house, the garden, and the surrounding countryside is truly beautiful (even during the heatwave!).
