We stayed at the campsite for 3 weeks during April, preparing it for the season, and we couldn't ask for more charming people and place!
We mostly cleared the campsite from leaves and branches but also had tasks like cleaning, orginizong the store, driving the tractor and trailer, painting and moving old logs.
We enjoyed staying outside on the
… read more forest and the beautiful lake we never had enough of!
Corali and Douwe were so friendly, welcoming and kind, and answered all our never-ending questions and we always had great talks with them, pretty much about everything! We enjoyed the lunch we had together everyday and the many Dutch cheeses and the fresh baked bread.
Their campsite is really a master piece of sustainability, we learned so much about hospitality and tourism from them. Corali really helped us with all the German beurocracy with a smile, which is very appreciated and not an easy thing to do ;)
And we also talked a LOT about New Zealand ;)
Also Marius was so charming and loveable, and always tought and explained what to do with a smile and laughter.
We will miss them all!
Thank you for having us join you for these weeks :) Take care and hope to visit again soon!
Vom Host für Workawayer (Luca)
Our time with Luca was a overa success. He is a hard worker, great buddy in our team. Always willing to do some extra work when needed. We also had a lot of fun. We can absolutely recommend him!

I spent three weeks at the campsite towards the end of the summer season, working first in the kitchen and then the cafe. Everyone was very welcoming, easy to talk to and supportive. I had so many nice and interesting conversations with everybody there at one point or another. Sometimes it is super busy, but the atmosphere is still friendly and I
… read more always felt that I could ask if I didn't know something or needed help. They really aim for a good working vibe - you work hard during your shift, but you can easily take a break when its a good moment, chat with customers, put on some music etc. I appreciated how the workawayers were trusted to really take care of the kitchen and the cafe both during work and after, when it became our shared space for cooking, eating and hanging out. I loved being able to go out with a SUP as often as I could, swim every day, bake a few things for the cafe and chill out in my cosy caravan.
It is very helpful if you are able bring a bike (I was lucky enough to borrow one) then you have much more independence with your shopping or if you want to go somewhere by train, the bike ride to the nearest town is about half an hour and is a nice ride. During my stay, people were very generous about picking up some things for you if they were going to the supermarket, sharing ingredients and occasionally cooking for the group. In general there was a great feeling of mutual support between everyone, campsite team and workawayers.
If you want to learn/improve your German it's an ideal situation, because you can just try and if you get stuck there will be a coworker or a customer who can help you out! I tried to speak (my terrible) German with all the customers and it has helped my confidence with speaking a lot.
Beautiful place and lovely people, thank you all for a great experience.Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.

Bence and Erzsi stayed with us for two weeks. In these two weeks were two weekends where the campsite was fully booked. We did throw them in at the deep end in our Cafe/Shop, and after only two days they were being Barista, taking orders and cashing at our counter. It was a challenge and they really rose up to meet it. So really guys, thanks a

Our very first Workaway experience where we spent a total of 2 weeks. We needed a little mental shift from our creative work, and this place was perfect for that.
Ellbogensee Camping is a very pleasant, peaceful, and well-organized place. Mostly German travelers seeking relaxation visit here (who surprisingly speak English quite well). The
… read more surroundings are beautiful and filled with animals. It has a rich bird and plant life, and you can even see bats at night. Many people swim in the lake, the water is very clean, but it was still too cold for us :D
The place is run by Coralie, Douwe, and Marius, who gave us a tour of the site and showed us our tasks in just a few hours. We had to handle the cash register during the busiest two weeks, make coffee, restock merchandise, assist in the kitchen, and clean. On weekdays, when there were fewer guests, we had to perform smaller tasks like placing fire extinguishers.
We really enjoyed the work, these two weeks were very fast-paced and exciting. We were tired at the end of each day, but not like after an average workday. It was a satisfying kind of tiredness, which may sound strange, but if you spend a few days here, you'll understand what we mean :D
We were a bit worried about the lack of German language skills, but 98 percent of the people immediately switched to English when we asked. The guests were kind and patient.
Our hosts were very kind. They helped us with everything they could, and there were no issues if we encountered unexpected situations. Coralie, Douwe, Marius, and the whole team put a lot of energy and time into this place, constantly improving it. Even during our stay, the new sanitary facility was being built with the help of other Workawayers. It was great to see so many conscientious people in one place.
Thank you for the experience, we hope to meet again in the future!
Vom Host für Workawayer (Matheus)
We really enjoyed having Mattheus with us. He is an incredibly friendly guy. He really fitted well into the team. Didn't mind doing less exciting tasks, like raking our 23 acres big Campsite! Thank you very much for your support in getting our site ready for the season.

My experience in the campsite was great. we did a lot of different works so I was able to learn a little bit of everything. The hosts were great and so were the other guys working there. Definitely recommend.

We were very happy to host Armin. He is a very nice, extrovert and interesting person. We had a lot of shared interests. It was easy to work with him. He is a hard worker. Open to doing everything that needed to be done.
We can recommend him wholehartedly to any host.

I was lucky enough to spend 12 days at Coralie's campsite and the time flew so fast away. I'm really grateful that you had me Coralie even for this short time! I really enjoyed being there, working for you and I wish the best for your campsite in the future!
I would recommend this host to everyone, without any hesitation!
