We are a couple who have been together for several years and we live on 18 acres of forest land where we built a house and are working to create a partially self sufficient homestead. Our interests lie in herbalism, permaculture, flower and food growing, chicken/duck raising, small structure building, natural fencing, swale and pond construction are some of our projects. The main house will one day be able to accomadate more than just two but for now we are planning on finishing a guest cabin (the Shack) where people can stay. We can share meals and cooking inside but plan to build an outdoor kitchen as well. There will be an outdoor shower set up. We both work part time (one of us at a Kombucha company and the other at a local Flower shop). You would be alone at times on the homestead. We are english but speak french. Our diet is mainly paleo/ancestral.
We live on 18 acres of wild old growth Laurentian forest about an hour from Montreal. We are both herbalists and love to teach about plants. We are also developing sylvopasture systems to one day have larger animals, like pigs and sheep. We work with permaculture garden methods and after about ten years here it provides a good example of what it takes to start a hometead in the forest. We built our house and cleared the land.
Finishing renos on our guest cabin. Building small structures for chickens and ducks. Building gardens and hugulbeds/fences. planting hedgrows, helping with foraging and harvesting wild plants and herbs; drying and processing medicinal herbs, and flowers. Ideally someone would have some building experience. There is a lot of hard work: firewood, tree cutting, branch hauling, chicken feeding - but we like to relax at the lake and swim as well!
camping on a platform in the forest
Morin Heights and St Sauveur are very close by and we could provide rides to these villages as well as occasional trips to further towns like Montreal. We have a lake across the road and many acres of forest to explore.

We have pets
