Help me with my garden and household tasks in Nîmes, Southern France

  Beschreibung

  Welcome as a volunteer in my home ! I need help with general maintenance, renovation and gardening in a nice house with swimming pool located in Nimes, close to many cultural and nature spots.
  
  I am a paediatrician, specialized in child neurology . I work in Nîmes, at a private practice. I work a lot outside home but sometimes I work from home. Generally, I am not much at home and available during the day, spending my time with studies (chinese medicine, buddhism, feng shui...), meditation, work administration and diverse home duties.
  
  As I work a lot and have 2 dogs to take care of, I need help with my garden (3000 m2), house and sometimes the dogs. I have a project to transform a part of the house into a (non-profit) wellfare center for children and their parents during 2024 --2026 and will need some hands to help with this transformation. Much is already done (garden and a few rooms). Things will be calmer during 2025. Once a month, a esthetician comes to the house to work. During this time, the garden should be especially clean and calm.
  
  My youngest son, Wilhelm (24) does not live at home any longer. He lives in Avignon and has worked as a riding teacher in a UCPA owned riding school. Right now, he is studying turism and oenology. He comes to visit me regularly, so you will probably meet him. My daughter: Alix (20) studies international relations and history in Montpellier but comes back home during weekends and holidays. In august or september, she will move to Sweden to continue studying there, as her father is swedish. My oldest son, Maxance (30) is living at my place a few weeks this year, while his apartment down the hill is on renovation. This should be finished in the end of february or beginning of march. Maxance is handicaped with a neurocognitive and neuromuscular disease. He cannot help us with any activity but takes care of himself and does not need help with daily activities. When he will have moved back to his apartment, the room where he is staying will need to be renovated (last renovation was 2013).
  
  This year, I need help with cleaning the garden, but may also need help with taking care of the house, like cleaning or ironing. I can also need help with painting or renovating rooms in the house. As I am working all day, you'll need to be prepared to help out alone after receiving instructions.
  
  You will stay in the guest house close to the pool, with your own bathroom. There, you will have your own small kitchen in order to live independently and eat whenever you feel like it. But I will need help with cooking evening meals if we eat together in the evening. I come home late, sometimes after 8 pm, so it is not sure you want to wait for me for dinner. But if you do, and wish us to have dinner together, then, I will most of the time ask you to prepare dinner, so we can eat, not too late, when I come home.
  
  I eat vegetarian food and do not buy meat or fish. I do not drink alcohol neither or very exceptionnally.
  
  Internet access is limited in the guest house, but full access is available in the house, where you can study, work or chat if needed. Otherwise, you can use you own internet access (phone) as receptivity is very good.

  We speak 3 languages (French, Swedish and English).
  
  I practice a lot of meditation and spend some time at a buddhist tempel every month. You might want to follow with me if you can and are interested.
  
  We are very curious about foreign cultures and love exchanging about many different subjects. We have had many successful workaway experiences and would love to continue receiving people from other countries as a substitute for traveling. We prefer to receive couples, if possible, but accept single workawayers as well. A minimum of 2 weeks stay is preferred before short stays.

  Dear volunteer !
  We are a French-Swedish family living in a nice house located 15 min by walk from the center part of Nimes in Languedoc-Roussillon (Occitanie), Southern France.
  We would like to share our french and swedish cultures with you and learn from your culture, while getting some help from you refreshing some parts of the house (painting, arranging what needs to be arranged, cutting hedges, general seasonal gardening, planting shrubs, repairing broken parts of the house, giving us ideas...etc !).

  You will have acces to your own bedroom with bathroom in a separate little house in the garden, just by the swimming pool. We will share the rest of the house with you, in which you will be welcome and in which the internet access is easier.

  We live in one of the most beautiful parts of France, with perfect climate, good food, easy going people, cultural spots spread around, nature (Camargues, Cévennes), 3,5 hours from Spain and Italy by car, 3 hours from Paris by train, 3 hours from mountain areas, 30 minutes from the mediteranean sea, 40 min from Pont du Gard, 20 minutes by walk to the best preserved arenas of the roman empire...etc. Many festivals can be found all around the year. We love our region and would be delighted to help you discover it !
