  Hello & Welcome
  
  We are a couple of over 28+ years whose desire is to enjoy life to its fullest! Fourteen of the last twenty years have been spent lovingly renovating our 1890's Farmhouse & our 18+ acre Property. Located in the Shenandoah Valley of Rockingham County, Virginia, USA, we have made it our mission to create a welcoming environment for family and friends alike! We also share our Beautiful Home & Property with our Precious Furbabies... Five Dogs & Three Cats, and wildlife out the ying yang! :) All are our Beloved Family, and they are simply spoiled rotten!
  
  Our Home is infused with the spirit of Key West, Florida! After visiting Key West several times over the years, we couldn't help but fall in love! So much so, we made it our goal to re-create the Key's Peaceful and Relaxing environment at our Property in Virginia! We have managed to create our very own Private Retreat Center, reminiscent of the Florida Keys. We make every effort to share our Home & Property with friends & family alike as often as possible. That's where you come in...
  
  Anyone who owns, or has owned, a large property, knows precisely how much effort it takes to manage and maintain such a large property. There is always lots of upkeep and maintenance needing to be done, whether pulling weeds, spraying weeds, mowing, gardening, general maintenance of our Home and other dependancies, etc... Having so much is grand, but it also leaves little time for the two of us, Owners, to enjoy our splendid property, instead of feeling like we are owned by our Property. Does this makes sense? If you have ever been a home owner, you know what we are talking about! :) We are hoping this is where a wonderful organization like workaway may come into play!
  
  We are centrally located to so many historical and cultural sites in Virginia. You could provide your much needed assistance with our lovely Home and Property, and still have time to take in sites located within an hour or two drive from our location, such as the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains and Skyline Drive, Monticello, home of President Thomas Jefferson. Montpelier, home of President James Madison. Mount Vernon, home of President George Washington. Washington, D.C., our Nations Seat of Government, where you will find the White House, Capital, Washington Monument, and all of the glorious National Treasures of the US Federal Government. Also, locally, you can visit Massanutten Village and Resort and many local Caverns, such as the infamous Luray Caverns, the Grottoes Caverns and the Endless Caverns, to name a few. There is so much more we could list, but the fact is, you will fall so hard in love with our property, you won't care to travel too far away from the inside of our secluded compound and gates. :)
  
  We are LGBTQ+ friendly, and would much prefer stayers who feel the same. Thank you so much as we share the world as one human family!
  
  We are COVID vaccinated and boostered, and hope that our guests would be as well.

  As a traveler, you will have many opportunities to interact with us and our friends culturally in a country setting on a spectacular property most only see while vacationing in similar areas like Florida's Key West or other seaside hideaways... Our Beach time get-togethers, BBQ's, and evenings spent sitting by the beach star gazing while listening to the evening frogs as the splendid lightening bugs sparkle the evening away... meanwhile, Ed and his musical gang have even been known to play a tune or two for us across the pond... :)
  
  Your helping with the planning, preparation, and hosting of seasonal social events for our guests, friends, and their families would be an example of additional cultural social events... we are within minutes of Massanutten's Four Seasons Resort, with a host of other year round activities, sports and social gatherings for guests to participate in during their available down times.

  Arbeit

  In an effort to improve and maintain our lovely property for the continued FREE enjoyment of our close friends and family (This is a PRIVATE PROPERTY- NOT A BUSINESS), we are looking for other kind folks who can enjoy and appreciate the natural beauty and pristine wildlife to assist with a wide range of ongoing projects including one or more of the following:
  
  General Cleaning/vacuuming/dusting, organizing, emptying trash, power washing and cleaning of vinyl siding and fences, painting of woodwork and trim/walls, basic repair work, animal care (cats & dogs), ornamental grass trimming, tree trimming, mulching, beach combing, roadway gravel repair, weeding of road and walkways, staining and clear coating of concrete sidewalks, planning, planting, and maintaining of area gardens, and so on... This help would be to assist with ongoing development of our 18+ acre property as well as our retreat center which is used at no charge to our friends, family, and yourself, our valued guests.

  Accommodations would involve your staying in a FREE FURNISHED cottage (10'x20' with access to a Refrigerator/Freezer, Microwave, Heat/AC, WiFi, and a beautiful resort-like property to stay in (with shared bathroom and laundry washer/dryer in Main House- these Specifics will vary from location to location within our property)... spending time watching TV or viewing your choice of many ROKU TV channels, or perhaps sitting for a bit in any of our sitting areas; hanging out by the pond on a beautiful tan pebble beach, or walking up to the upper field to observe deer... the choices of social and naturalistic interactivity while enjoying Mother Natures beauty remains almost endless.

  We are located within minutes of Massanutten Resort, a four seasons resort with a year round Waterpark, as well as many other winter activities, such as Skiing, tubing, etc.
  
  Our location is like living in a Key West like mini resort... with a 3 million gallon pond stocked with Koi and Gold fish, a beach, and beautiful views of wildlife such as deer, rabbits, frogs, and so much more. Much time can be spent relaxing and socializing by the BBQ, fire pit, or multiple water features, beaches, and sitting areas throughout the property.
