    Description

    Hi
We have been hosts on workaway for about 9 years now and have meet some amazing people and made some life long friends. we haven't used workaway for the last few year as our family life has changed, kids leaving home animals changing family commitments etc, but now we are back and in need of some extra help and what better time to help out on a farm in France than in spring and summer!
THIS IS WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:-

STRONGE HARDWORKING PEOPLE FROM MAY 2017.

    HEAVY GARDENING
    GENERAL FARM TASKS
GETTING ECO STRUCTURE AND GUEST ROOM UP AND RUNNING.
    BUILDING BBQs AND PATHWAYS
    TLC ON ECO STRUCTURE

BEING AN ANIMAL PERSON IS GOOD BUT I AM LOOKING MORE FOR OUTDOORSY, HARD WORKING MOTIVATED PEOPLE. PEOPLE WHO CAN HELP WITH VEGETABLE TENDING, FENCE REPAIRS, STONE WALLING. THE REAL OUT DOOR JOBS. HANDS DIRTY KIND!

You would need to be able to stay for a minimum of one month.

You need to be able to take on DIY jobs, and be good in the garden and with veg planting and care.
You also have to be good with children of all ages from 10 to 20 that is a big must as my kids are a big part of this farm.

The people that come to our farm become part of our family as much as they want, ther is alway a place at our table, a game to be played, the film to watch or a walk to take. We have made so many life long friends and the kids have enjoyed meeting so many interesting people. the work is hard but really rewarding.
You need to be a hard working. Pretty strong. Good with children, and animals and be a Fun loving person, and you'll fit right in.

The farm is situated next to the long distance walking route, GR7. Our visitors tend to spend time walking this route, as well as walking to the nearby lake at Le Rousset that has beaches and its own walking and cycling routes through the forest.

We are English (from Yorkshire), in late 30's with three children, aged 10, 17 and 20. Our farm is situated in the Saone et Loire region of South Burgundy, where the landscape is not far removed from that of the Derbyshire Dales, but normally a little sunnier, quieter and French!

We are a camelid farm which means we have alpacas and lamas but also have the normal farm animals such as sheep a goat, Donkeys, a mini shetland pony and chickens. We also have 2 dogs and a cat. Plenty to keep you interested!

If the above sounds like you, then please get in touch!

    Accommodation

You will have your own accommodation in a converted house away from the main house. No need to worry about bedding, all will be provided.
Meals and amenities will be in the main house, where you are always more than welcome.

If you are the hardened type and prefer to camp, there is ample space to pitch a tent, but i would not recommend this in winter!

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We're looking for people who wants to join our family. Ideally, you will eat your meals with us, spend time with us in the evenings, get involved with the children and will work with us until the work is finished.

Farm life entails good old fashioned hard work, and there's always an endless stream of jobs to do, including unpredictability ... so please be prepared that work here is not a typical 5 - 6 hour day... some days it's more... somedays it's less.

You will have plenty of time to get away and go exploring, so if you don't want to work one day, then that's fine too. It's good fun, there's great banter and we eat and drink well at the end of the day.

While our farm is quite isolated, with our nearest neighbor a 5-10 minute walk away, we are close enough to the center of the small town of La Guiche which has a Boulangerie, Bank and hair dressers.

Take a walk Or find your own little secluded spot in one of the fields, maybe behind one of the huge rocks that are scattered around the place, or under a tree to read a book and enjoy the fabulous scenery when you're not working.

We prefer to host longer term helpers rather than those looking for a 1, 2 or 3 week holiday.
Preferably, we'd like to be contacted by anyone that wants to spend a month or more with us.

So, if you're looking for a holiday in the sun, then this isn't the place for you. But, if you'd like to get back into nature and do some good work that makes you feel great and satisfied, then send us an email!
