Tom and Ale are a lovely couple and such a pleasure to have around. Tom helped out with some renovation work, painting and weed-whacking and he can whip up a pretty mean focaccia! Ale is an amazing chef who treated us to some fantastic dinners during their stay. They’re both kind, easy-going, and great company. We’d highly recommend them to anyone looking for reliable, friendly, and talented volunteers for any project.

Daiki stayed with us for a week and was a respectful, considerate, and pleasant guest to have around. He helped with garden work and household chores and approached every task with care and a positive attitude. We enjoyed having him with us and wish him all the very best for his travels ahead!

Mia is such a wonderful person! She’s always smiling, full of positive energy, and brought so much warmth and inspiration to our home. Our little daughter absolutely loved her. The time they spent playing together was a huge help for us as parents, and also really meaningful for our daughter’s growth. Mia did every task perfectly and even went beyond — she organized our messy storage areas and cooked amazing Indian food (honestly better than restaurant meals!). We were so grateful for everything she did. We also loved hearing her stories and thoughts from her experiences living in India and the U.S. and traveling around the world. Talking with her deeply inspired us and gave us a lot to think about. If she ever comes back to Japan, we’d be so happy to welcome her again anytime.

I spent 2 weeks with Carine and Georges and I really recommend them. They really have a sense of hospitality and sharing. We work in a good mood. Georges prepares delicious meals for us and Carin is a dessert specialist. They like to introduce us to Canadian culture. In short, it's a beautiful exchange, like being with family. Go there with confidence, you will be sad to leave them. Thank you both.. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

We had such a lovely two and a half weeks with Samantha and Damien (and Teo of course!!). Despite this being our first workaway, we felt totally at ease right away thanks to their super clear communication, warm personalities and the homey atmosphere of the hostel. Nights were spent jamming out to Damiens music, playing ping-pong and getting to know backpackers. The work each day was completely reasonable and it was fun to get into a routine with it, a mix of daily cleaning tasks and DIY. Damien is patient and thorough with directions. Lunch (usually prepared by Samantha) was DELICIOUS and our time spent eating and chatting was always a highlight of our day (: The area is stunning, Damien and Samantha are super knowledgeable on all the local hikes, and will help you plan excellent days off. Luz is a great little village with all the essentials, we were lucky enough to be there for a big celebration with fireworks and live music.Overall cannot recommend this workaway enough. We will forever cherish our time in the mountains and thanks Samantha and Damien for welcoming us into your family for a short while!

No podría haber esperado pasar un mejor rato con Nadine y su familia. Una ubicación muy aislada, pero un trabajo interesante, comida deliciosa y abundante, un lugar precioso con una casa preciosa. Gracias por acogerme

This Workaway was unique and nothing like we’ve experienced so far!!! It is simply incredible, if you are reading this and considering applying, you don’t need to think any more - message Ricardo now!! You won’t regret it!! We were warmly welcomed directly into the family home, which is more like a boutique hotel. The space is immaculately clean, spacious and welcoming. We had a double room (we are a couple) with comfortable bed, amazing view and en-suite bathroom. We shared all meals with the family, all local dishes lovingly prepared by Jackie, with fresh healthy ingredients. We paid $5 each per day to help with food costs, which was an absolute bargain. The farm is beautiful, peaceful and lovingly created by the family. The work is simple and essential to growing the cacao organically. We were treated with love, respect and kindness. Our Spanish is very basic, Ricardo is fluent in English (because he is also an Amazon tour guide, with amazing knowledge of the local wildlife) so helped us communicate with Jackie. Learning and participating in the full chocolate process from harvesting right through to consumption of our own hand picked beans was a gift beyond words. Don’t bother applying if you are just after free accommodation, this position is all about truly being and living with an Ecuadorean family who love and respect their environment and business. We had an amazing two weeks, which will stay in our hearts for a life time.

I did my first workaway here and had a great experience! The work is well organized — in the mornings you help with housekeeping and attending to guests, and in the afternoons you prepare things for breakfast, do check-ins, and help where needed. Gustavo, the host, is super kind, helpful, and always makes sure you feel comfortable. Sharing lunch and dinner together with him is a really nice part of the experience and makes you feel at home. Overall, it’s a great place if you enjoy a calm atmosphere, want to learn, and appreciate a supportive host. Highly recommend!

Spending a month in Cyprus and helping out Hugh with the guest house and household tasks was not only rewarding - it also gave me a whole new appreciation for the behind-the-scenes work that keeps a hospitality business running smoothly and the mysterious art of ironing sheets without turning them into origami. Over the month, I was happy to help with all sorts of tasks - from walking the dog and helping with the groceries to cleaning rooms, floors, and dishes. I tackled laundry, ironing, a bit of cooking, and even fixed a few things—some of which stayed fixed :). I also spent time gardening, watering plants, and did so much painting that I started dreaming in shades of green and blue :) Hugh, it was a pleasure working with you and being part of your daily rhythm. Thank you for your trust, your hospitality, for great accommodation, for all the stories, all the driving around the island and teaching me backgammon too! I’m leaving with great memories, new skills and a lot of appreciation for everything you shared with me.

Kerstin was an amazing workawayer, she is a hard-working, kind, generous person who gives a lot. She became a friend and a huge support and help here on the farm. She took responsibility for the farm, house and animals while I was away and I felt I could completely trust her with everything. She was super sweet with the animals and cared very much for both people and animals here. She is a very fast learner and adapts quickly to different situations and challenges. A beautiful person all round.

Barbara & Nik were my first Workaway hosts, and it was an amazing experience staying in the Nevada City area with its beautiful river. It was my pleasure to help Nik maintain the land. I definitely would have loved to stay longer, but my plans changed because I returned to volunteer with the DPW at Burning Man. Thank you, Barbara and Nik, for the nice and cozy cabin and for the chance to be part of the sweet small-town community. I would love to return one day to enjoy the beautiful nature of Northern California again. Thank you so much, and see you again! Temi

Joey & Peggy were excellent workawayers - interesting and interested, careful, quick to learn, hardworking, tidy and fun. Nearly all of the work we did together was outdoor labour, incl banana weeding, bonfire management, invasive weed cutting and killing, and a bit of demolition. Great to have them stay, and they are welcome to return.

We really appreciate the opportunity to meet, know and spend time together with Olga, Alvaro and Nina! From very first moment, they welcomed us very warmly and showed us plenty of places around the island. Olga and Alvaro are such a lovely couple, always kind and helpful, Nina is very a smart, well behaved lovely dog🫶🏼🐾 The renovation project on ruins went well smoothly with clear instruction from them. All works we have done were really fun and we learned plenty of new things! The accomodation was so clean and had everything we needed. We enjoyed every single moments with them (went to the beach, walked with Nina, ate dinner together etc)☺️ They are so nice as friends and hosts, we can't thank them and recommend them enough.

I spent 2 incredible months at Rosie's idyllic quinta. The work was not only easy but enjoyable: tending to 2 adorable cats, watering plants and basking in the peace and gorgeous valley views. The host was away but was always reachable if needed. Additionally, her welcoming local friends were available if I just wanted a bit of socializing. Extremely highly recommended!

Spending 2 weeks with this multicultural family was an interesting learning curve for our first time in Brazil. Lea, Christian, and their 3 lovely young kids were our first ever Workaway hosts and their environmental values and climate activism gave us a good introduction to a healthy, simple lifestyle. Instead of working at their permaculture farm as shown in the photos like we had hoped, Josh and I stayed at their house and mainly helped with general maintenance and construction tasks such as plastering and painting walls, laying bricks, cleaning and organizing. As the house is a work-in-progress, we slept on mattresses in a storage room. Lea & Christian are very busy with kids and work, so a lack of clear communication and #redacted# sometimes created confusion or misunderstanding about meal arrangements or volunteering plans. This said, we loved spending time with their clever, welcoming, and super mature kids, and think everyone would love them too. We were especially thankful to join capoeira classes, churrascos with their friends, or have enriching conversations about our different cultures.

From day one, we immediately felt warmly welcomed by this wonderful family, and even little Linda felt at ease right away. Ari and Dani are wonderful people, kind and full of energy and ideas. Together, they form a contagious force, transmitting enthusiasm and creative thinking. Spending time with them reminded us how good and essential it is to laugh, joke, and the value of play and humor, even for adults. The way this family communicates and shares, both with each other and with others, can be an inspiration to anyone. It was an honor to contribute to your project, even if only for a short time, and we truly hope to be able to visit you again in that magical bosque. PS: can't stop singing in loop If you like piña colada...;) Laura, Giuseppe & Linda

Workhorse? Yes. Humor? Motivated? Reliable? Interesting? All yes. Crazy? Crazy enough to make me comfortable with my own eccentricities. Heart? The best. Creative? Check out her Windy Islands youtube videos. The kind of person you'd invite back? Eli has been my Workaway guest multiple times and is always welcome in my home.

Mirjam was a real stroke of luck!! :-) She is very friendly, accommodating, and reliable! Mirjam stayed with us on the farm for about four weeks and with her help, took a lot of work off our hands. Our animals were fed conscientiously, the paddocks were cleaned, and there was always time to pet or brush the animals. After a short training period, she was quickly able to complete these tasks on her own. She also naturally helped us with other chores around the house or with our hobbies. She also treated the apartment we provided very neatly and left it clean. We were happy to welcome Mirjam into our family and and we had a lot of fun together Not only we, but also our children found a friend in her. Unfortunately, the time passed too quickly, and with a heavy heart, we had to let her go, but we will definitely see each other again! Dear Mirjam, thank you for this wonderful time!

Mathilde stayed with us for two months, and from the very first day she became an important part of our little family here on the farm. She is a truly wonderful person responsible, trustworthy, fun, and incredibly kind. I had great confidence in her and gave her quite a bit of responsibility, which she handled perfectly. She was absolutely amazing with the kids, they all adored her and she had a natural way of making everyone feel safe and included. She’s very thorough in her work and always made sure things were done properly. Mathilde was also a fantastic teacher for the new volunteers that arrived during her stay. She patiently showed them the routines, explained everything clearly, and made sure they felt welcome and confident in their tasks. We shared many nice moments together, talking about everything and nothing, and I’m especially grateful for her presence during some tougher times she brought calm, laughter, and positive energy to the place. She’s truly great company, and we all miss her a lot! Mathilde, I hope you’ll come back soon (bring that man of yours)! You’ll always have a place here with us. 💛
