Staying on Susan’s and Finn‘s farm was one of the best experiences of my life. It is a very beautiful and homely place and I immediately felt calmed down there. Susan and Finn also create an environment that allows you to grow, make mistakes and discover that you are good at things, you would have never trusted yourself with. And not only the warm and kind atmosphere was nourishing, also the food that Susan’s prepared for us. It was my first workaway experience and I had such great time with this group. The conversations on the dinnertable expanded my horizon and I felt so accepted. I can not put into words what this stay means to me and how much it impacted me. I will carry this newgained spirit with me and will try to share it with the world. I hope to go there again!!

I just spent around 3 months with Unnur, Arnar and their family and I have no words to describe my experiences there! They are two of the most kind-hearted, generous, caring and also funny people I´ve ever met! I felt so welcomed from the very first second and this home-feeling only got better within the time I could spent in Midhus - in a beautiful and cozy farm house with a nice little forest right behind it :) Especially in the first weeks, we would often play card and board games in the evening, or just spent some time talking & laughing together. In the first weeks, I helped a little bit in the household and sometimes did some babysitting. After the kindergarten opened again after the summer break, I only did some household chores – sweeping and sometimes mopping the floors, picking up the toys of the girls, hanging some laundry, cleaning the kitchen after dinner and so on. Beside that, I also picked blueberries on my walks, baked something or cooked occasionally 😊 Unnur was cooking the other nights some incredibly delicious meals – she is a fantastic cook! So, I also had plenty of free time where I could do whatever I wanted. And thanks to them, I could discover soo many stunning places in this time! They let me use their car almost all the time, so, I could go on my own after getting plenty and amazing recommendations by them! :) A few times, I got also dropped off somewhere and got picked up later or walked back home. And of course, they took me with them on all kind of ventures - a gallery opening and an outdoor concert of Unnur in Reykjavik, many ;) waterfalls, the Highlands, picking up the twins from kindergarten and getting ice cream, … - the list is endless! 😊 They even took me with them on a one-week trip to Holmavik in the Westfjords, and I also met a lot of their nice and sweet family members and friends :) I was also invited by them to stay around 1 month longer than originally planned. And they let me take a whole week off to go on a road trip around the ring road with my parents – for that, they made me a complete list of things to see all over Iceland! I could go on like this for ever – there are so many things I´m extremely thankful for!! All in all, I can just say it was an incredible time and I can´t thank you guys enough for everything you did for me!! Until we´ll see each other again, all the best for you!!

We spent a wonderful 3 weeks with Diane and Ziggy! From the moment we met her, she was an extremely welcoming soul with a very bubbly personality and a great sense of adventure. We explored all of the brocantes of the area (when found them open ahaha) and she was very available to drive us around. She was very respectful of our privacy (we had our own floor), she was very easygoing with the tasks (as long as we were confortable with them) and always ready to have a laugh. This was our first workaway experience and we couldn't wished for a most wonderful one!

Thank you to Yann and Phillipe for welcoming me into their home in the beautiful Hyblaean mountains. The project they've been working on is as impressive as it is worthwhile, and I'm very glad to have been a part of it. I very much enjoyed Yann's wonderful cooking and Phillipe teaching sustainable renovation techniques, and generally spending downtime with both of them. My remit lay mostly with gardening and a little landscaping, and in covering the dormitory with a lime-based primer in preparation for painting. My time with these lovely people has been incredibly fulfilling, and I'm very grateful. I wish all the best to both them and their project! (Interested workawayers are more than welcome to contact me in order to discuss this further)

We had a wonderful time with Karen, Glen, the dogs, and all the animals on the farm. We really enjoyed the morning routine, which was the perfect way to start the day actively. The tasks were all interesting and there was always something new to learn. Whether it was splitting wood, building fences, or rounding up the escaped sheep, there was always something fun to do. The quieter times we spent relaxing with a cup of coffee or tea. Even after working in the garden, there was always time to work on our own projects or explore all the great places in the area. There is really nothing we can complain about. The yurt, the outdoor kitchen and shower, the food, and above all, Glen and Karen are extremely friendly and understanding. We wish you all the best and would definitely come back whenever we need a break, want to do some manual work, or are simply in the area. We send you a big hug, thank you very much! PS: Milli is the cutest

Thank you so so much Catherine for a month!:) Staying at Catherine's house was new and wonderful experiences !! Catherine is really nice and loved by many people. She took me to some her communities and introduced her local friends. Everyone I met here is nice too! Her house is so peaceful and she has lovely garden. Doneraile the closest town is good to visit for walking in the big park and going to cafe and pub! There's also bus service to Mallow station. From Mallow, it's easy to go to Cork city and Killarney national park. Killarney national park is really worth to visit !! The task is various. There are always many things to do but I mainly did gardening, painting and house tasks. It wasn't difficult and hard. She considered which tasks were suitable for me. Working time is from 8am to 1pm and I could have around 30min break during work. She prepared for working clothes so I didn't have to worry about it. It was very helpful! During my stay, there were other 3 workawayers. It's always good to have your companies around! I shared the room with Spanish lady and it was comfortable! We cooked and ate meals and sometimes we spent free time together :) The house location is countryside but I could have my friends and there are many things to do on my free time!( Near the house, you can find some nature places to explore! ) Catherine is also great cook!! I really miss her healthy foods. I hadn't tried to cook vegan/ vegetarian foods in my life but I could learn how to cook and I still keep cooking in Japan :) Thank you so so much again Catherine!! I'm so lucky girl to meet you here. You are my ideal grandmother :)) Wishing you the best of luck and good health. I hope I'll see you again when I'll come back to Ireland! :)

Stayed for about a week and had a great first Workaway-experience. The castle and it's surroundings are just incredible and needs to be seen in person, especially if you've got an interest in history. The tasks were manageable and various. Good communication aswell with the host, Isa. As mentioned however in the description, I'd recommend bringing a friend since you can get rather independent (if there are few or no other Workawayers there at the same time). But overall super friendly and a very calm atmosphere. I really recommend visiting!!!

I initially went to the farm to volunteer in farming, but I ended up creating videos instead — and my host, Shirin, guided me every step of the way. She taught me videography with patience and kindness, letting me focus on learning rather than her work. She also took me to local markets, introduced me to traditional dishes, and even brought me to the flea markets for a fun weekend getaway. I must say, it was a truly wonderful experience filled with learning and memorable moments. Thank you so much, Shirin!

Agathe stayed with us for three weeks and it was a pleasure to have her. She is very intuitive, open and friendly. Very helpful and I feel so grateful to have spend time with her. We went to some beaches and scenery places . She is interested in many things and carries an open heart. Agathe was great with my son too playing board and card games. She also helped in the house and in the garden and minded the pets. I very much wish we so her again .

I volunteered at the farm for 22 days and helped create videos showcasing their beautiful space. The farm is located away from the city — a perfect getaway for anyone seeking peace and a connection with nature. Everyone here is incredibly kind, helpful, and gentle. The food is absolutely delicious, and there was no work pressure — plenty of free time to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Everything went wonderfully well. Thank you for such a memorable experience!

We had a fantastic two week stay - we wish we could have stayed longer! Louisa and Stuart were great hosts - very warm and welcoming people who we both got on well with. We really enjoyed the work and loved seeing the progress made in the garden. Cuddles with the dogs, board games and the bonfire were some of our favourite parts! No hesitation to recommend this workaway - you will have a great time here. Thanks Louisa and Stuart!

It was a pleasure staying at Sara’s Farm for 3 weeks. I slept in the tree house which is pretty neat! I enjoyed everyone’s company including all the pets and farm animals. The work I’ve done are digging a trench, weeding, trimming lavender, watering plants, picking plums, apples and pears, filling the humidifier for the oyster mushrooms and harvesting them, feeding the pigs and chickens, gathering logs and stacking it and making a wood pile for burning and assisting Drew with construction work. I took the opportunity to make Korean Potato Salad for the group, which everyone enjoyed. Thank you Sara for cooking the best meals including the halibut, black cod and tuna. You definitely nailed it. Thank you Dawn for assisting me in feeding the chickens and pigs at certain days. Jordan definitely makes the most delicious pizza ever seriously, I would say it’s better than NY pizza! Chelsea makes a very delicious pumpkin bread that is just perfect not too sweet, which I really enjoyed. Jesse, I appreciate you bringing me to my first music festival which I really enjoyed listening. Keegan, I had a blast at Silver State Falls with you. Nick cooked the meanest gumbo soup that had my mouth kept watering. Hehe! Thank you Sara and the whole crew for making this a unforgettable experience here! Cheers!

My first Workaway experience at Dina’s Paradise was truly unforgettable. I helped keep the house clean, carried firewood, and lent a hand in the garden, and I genuinely enjoyed every task Dina gave me. She's such a warm, open, and relaxed person who makes you feel instantly welcomed and comfortable in her home. The house itself is beautiful, set in a stunning and peaceful environment that’s incredibly inspiring. Just being there, surrounded by breathtaking views and the cows nearby, was an experience in itself. I’d absolutely love to return and do another workaway at Dina’s place. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a meaningful and refreshing stay in nature!

Natalie was 11th Workawayer I hosted here in my Workaway. She came in June when it was supposed to be the rainy season in Osaka, but there was not much rain this year. It's the most humid season in Japan, and it must be tough for Europeans to get around. Renovation of one of the rooms was the main task at that time, and she helped us painting the ceiling and pasting shikkui (Japanese plaster) on the wall of the kitchen. What I was impressed most about her was that she kept our building and our rooms clean and organized all the time. Sometime, when we have more Workawayers, the place becomes messy quickly. But our place became cleaner than ever because she proactively organized and cleaned the things. That was very helpful for me as I don't have time to tell Workawayers to clean every time they mess up. Moreover, she is a super cool person. It was good to have her around and enjoy our lives here in Osaka!

Our 3-week stay with Alberto, Alice and the girls was wonderful! We really enjoyed harvesting all the different kinds of vegetables and fruits and preparing fresh meals everyday. Our favourite activity must have been climbing the fig tree and making fig cake XD Besides that we appreciated the harmony and peace at their homestead as well as the beautiful canyons around and the possibility to practice our Spanish with Noemi :) Thank you for your welcoming character and positive attitude!

My time here was more than I could’ve hoped for. Mimma and Duccio are such warm, welcoming, and inspiring people, and I instantly felt at home. You quickly become part of their daily life and the beautiful local community. The pace is slow and relaxed, which makes everything feel calm and enjoyable. Every day is different, helping the artists, preparing for open studios, taking photos and videos, managing social media, or lending a hand around the house and garden. There’s no strict schedule, so you find your own rhythm and it all flows naturally. You meet resident artists from all over the world, share stories, moments and meals, and form friendships you’ll always remember. The animals are the heart of the home and make your stay even more magical! There’s plenty of time to enjoy the stunning surroundings, explore Chianti, and Florence is just a bus ride away. Mimma is an incredible host and cook, and you’ll feel comfortable and cared for throughout your stay. If you want to slow down, soak up the Italian lifestyle, be part of a creative and caring community, and feel like family, La Macina is the place for you. This home, the people, and the animals will always hold a special place in my heart. Grazie mille, Mimma and Duccio! ❤️

Emma was a fantastic volunteer at our location. She was very hard-working great fun and always show grace initiative and motivation to help with all of the work that needs to be done. She was also a great team player and helped to motivate everyone else in the group. It would be a pleasure to have Emma back to work with us again as we felt she was an integral part of the team. She’s a great girl with a fun and charismatic energy that everyone else around her appreciates, We hope to see you again soon lots of love ❤️

Kumari is a wonderful person full of warmth and positive energy. She was raised in Switzerland but has deep roots in Sri Lanka, and it was beautiful to see her connection to both cultures. Always smiling and cheerful, she filled our home with happiness and laughter. She loves animals, trees, and nature, and always sees the positive side of everything. Kumari is also a great listener and helped us in many ways during her stay. My wife, Kusum, looked forward every evening to cooking with her. Kumari was eager to learn Sri Lankan dishes, and those moments together were full of joy. Talking with her helped me improve my English, and we had many interesting conversations about culture, traditions, and history. I was lucky to travel with her to see elephants and a tea factory — memories I will always treasure. Kumari has a very kind heart and a strong desire to help the needy and poor. We discussed ways to support those in need, and I truly hope we can make a difference together one day. We all love her dearly and hope to meet her again soon. She is like a member of our family, and we wish her all the best on her journey ahead. Dear Kumari ,may your dreams come true.

Stefanie was a fantastic addition to our camp! She is reliable, creative and full of great ideas, witch she puts into action with energy and structure. she also motivated and inspired other Workawayers with her positive attitude and great organisational skills. Thanks to her wide range of experience from previous Workaway stays, she flexible and helpful in many areas and always worked independently. She got along wonderfully with our guests and with everyone on the team. Communication was easy and enjoyable and it was a real pleasure to have her here. She speaks German, English and Spanish fluently - a big plus in our international environment. We can highly recommend Stefanie and would love to host her again anytime.

After living 5 months over the summer at this beautiful homestead; I would summarize the experience as “Learning to Live and Loving to Learn.” If you love to learn and would like to learn, I mean truly learn, how to maintain a homestead in an inviting, comfortable, and stress-free environment, Workaway with Tim and Jayne is your place. Here we completed a variety of meaningful projects related to maintaining a multi-structure homestead, with gardening, construction, bee-work, tool care and maintenance, machine work, and a multitude of other learning opportunities available. You’ll be apart of a multi-year project to create a native pollination forest (yes we got to see it in it’s first season), and help further their endeavors leveraging solar to reduce the carbon footprint. You’ll learn to work farm and landscape machinery and become accustomed to using hand tools. You’ll learn to build structures and maintain ones already in place. You’ll have your own space for a garden and get to pick figs fresh from the trees (environment permitting). There are a plethora of amazing experiences waiting here. Regarding our “hosts” (aka. friends) Tim and Jayne (and Miso); Tim was very patient, kind, and understanding. He was instructional and attendant when completing projects together, and to be honest, he’s just a cool ass guy. I learned a lot about trusting others during projects, simply because Tim trusted us so fully. At times you will have the space and freedom to complete projects on your own, but also more complex projects will be completed working together as a team. Tim does not coddle you or hover as you learn but neither does he leave you stranded in ignorance. As for Jayne, she was so much fun and such a delight to be around. There were several occasions that simply by exchanging pleasantries with Jayne we ended up talking for an hour. I swear I could spend the evening just chatting and hearing her funny take on life and her hilarious anecdotes. She was always very gregarious, honest, and welcoming. It really does feel like such a safe environment to live and learn. Lastly, Miso, the sweet, affectionate, and vigilant pup. Miso was such a pleasure to be around and brought such a joyous and playful attitude to every moment. We felt very grateful to spend the summer with this family. In summation, if you’re looking to spend a relaxed but meaningful and enriching summer in North Carolina around chill and welcoming friends then please consider our friends, Tim, Jayne, and Miso.
