Having Tim as a volunteer at our school was truly exceptional. From the very beginning, he showed great enthusiasm, flexibility, and a genuine interest in connecting with both students and teachers. As a native English speaker with a very good level of Spanish, he communicated perfectly with everyone and created a wonderful bridge between languages and cultures. He was always proactive, responsible, and willing to help in any situation. His creativity and patience made the classes dynamic and enjoyable, and the students were constantly motivated to participate and improve. Beyond teaching, he shared great conversations, adapted easily to everything, and brought an incredible energy to our community. I highly recommend Tim to any host. he’s without a doubt one of the best volunteers we’ve had at this level. We’ll always be happy to welcome him back.

It was already some time ago, but this was my 1st ever workaway and it was exciting, fun and I like to think back to this experience. I enjoyed connecting with Harim and his lovely and smart students. It was a good balance between language and cultural exchange, meeting people and having opportunities to go on trips to explore Morroco. (We had a lot of free time). I stayed at the school in Berrechid and also visited the school in Casablanca. I would definitely recommend.

Amamos a Charly y Filó adorables carrochos 🖤. Tuvimos la suerte de conocer a su madre la cual adoramos. Recomendamos muchísimo la experiencia de trabajar con Alex, es una hermosa persona.

Jenna and Max are a wonderful, friendly and hardworking couple! We really really enjoyed hosting them and it was much too short! They are friendly and like to socialize but also do their own thing happily. Max is clever with wood and roofs. He is hardworking and detail orientated! Jenna is sweet and hardworking! She loves to help with anything put in front of her and did some amazing painting for us! I really wish them well with their journey and hope to cross paths again!

It was my first Workaway experience (a week) and Emily made it very comfortable and easy! Emily is kind, caring, polite and easy-going person, who supported me in my experience looking after my staying all the time with unstoppable energy. The work was gardening, little works of maintenance and making order in her shed. Also I met her mother and family in another realm old cozy Irish house and I have done some works there. Everybody were kind and her mother share tasty food and a final piece of cake as a present ^^ We spoke about different topics and she helped me with public transport going to Dungarvan and Waterford. The room is clean and conformable as the private bathroom. I would recommend staying with them :)

I had a wonderful time with Penny and John in the most beautiful house, which you will find on the Sunshine Coast (or maybe even in Canada). They are both amazing people - kind, caring, open-minded and always up for a joke. The work is flexible and every day looked different - a bit of gardening, cooking, baking, cleaning and household chores. Penny and John both made sure that I also have time off and they took me on wonderful little trips - we visited the local farmers' market, went kayaking (thanks again John for saving me), had a walk around the botanical garden and spent our evenings playing Sequence. I enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you both and I hope to see you again. Much love, Mary

We hosted Louis and Ysaline for almost 3 weeks, and they are great! Nice company, and did lots of incredible work for us. Greenhouse building, painting, soil moving, processing so many pears and apples, cleaning and more cleaning, washing windows, making us yummy meals... highly recommend!

Had such a great time with Scott and Laura — and of course with Susie, the loving little troublemaker and true heart of the place😍. Always up for cuddles, and keeping everyone entertained. The horses are amazing — Biscuit especially — and even the mud and rain somehow turn into part of the fun. Scott and Laura are super kind, open, and always up for letting you try new things, like the foal show, the Sales, or the Horse Fair. You really feel trusted and included. It’s peaceful and relaxed, but still only a direct train ride away from Galway City if you need a bit of city air. Big love to Susie, Biscuit and the rest of the gang. Can’t wait to see Corry on TV one day — future star in the making! 🌟 Thanks a lot.

Sorry for taking a while to write this! Ingrid and Rod were amazing to stay with. We were only with them for about 4 days, but we helped out with getting the camper ready for more Workawayers, which will be a great cosy camper to stay in! And we helped with the shed a bit, and mowed some lawns. Their family is so sweet, the kids are so great. We learnt their bread recipe - which I have been making by the way. Alex is currently eating some now. They taught us all about mushroom foraging, which we also managed to keep doing after we left, and I even got my own mushroom knife. They showed us the local swimming spot and the cute wee cafe. Their place is in a really nice, quiet part of Lofoten with some nice hikes nearby, which they told us about. They fully welcomed us into the family, it was so nice to stay with them. Such great hosts! I hope we see you again too.

This was my very first Workaway experience, and I’m so glad I did it and met Lori. From the very beginning, she was open, welcoming, and was super considerate about my own work schedule and made it easy to balance helping out and doing my own thing. With Lori, it never felt like just work. I got to help out, learn and also enjoy so many fun moments. We had movie nights, played games, sat by the firepit, watched amazing sunsets, and had long talks sometimes even debates about technology :p I got to know her family too, and they’re all such lovely people who made me feel right at home. I ended up learning a lot during my stay - new recipes, bits of culture and music, and that being organized is a skill worth keeping :) I grew to love the garden and taking care of it, and I also loved our grocery runs and kitchen experiments. When Loane joined later, everything got even better. Some tasks could get a bit tedious, but with Loane around, they felt lighter and more fun. We’d chat endlessly, laugh over random jokes, make silly bets, and somehow turn work into something we genuinely enjoyed. We loved how Lori always always had healthy food around and we had so much fun baking a lot of muffins too :) Lori has this energy and excitement about the little things that’s contagious. She’s an amazing host, and I’d recommend volunteering with her.

I am struggling to find the right words to describe how amazing this experience was. This was my first workaway and I could not have asked for a better experience or host. Honestly, I think that Susan has ruined all other workaways for me because I will be comparing everything to this experience. Susan is kind, intelligent, funny, insightful, trusting, and fierce and I look up to her so much. We had great conversations that ranged from deep to comical and I will miss them greatly. It was the perfect balance between connection, especially during meals, and freedom to do our own thing. I shared a couple of weeks with another workawayer named Garance, and the vibe in the house flowed seamlessly into a good rhythm with the three of us (and all the animals too). The work was just the right amount of challenge and I was free to try new things as well as allow my creativity to be sparked. I was never afraid to ask for clarification and Susan was great with allowing us to experiment and try things first, especially with the garden. The accommodations were perfect, the food delicious and always more than enough, and the turf fire (which Susan taught us how to make) was a dream in the afternoons with a cup of tea and a book. The animals were all so adorable with their distinct personalities and I really fell in love with all of them. I am now at my next workaway experience and am feeling oddly homesick for Freshford. I really hope to return someday, and value my time here immensely. Thank you, Susan, for welcoming me into your beautiful home and for making me feel like part of the family <3. P.S I am now addicted to Barry's tea.

Staying with Oumayma, the family, and Jarrid was such a special experience. It’s a beautiful place with even more beautiful people who made my time there truly worthwhile. I have so many warm memories — playing cards under the big tree, chatting and laughing in the evenings, joining family lunches, and sharing dinners during the first days of Ramadan. The daily work was varied and fulfilling: mulching the olive trees, caring for the garden, tidying up the workshop, building a chicken feeder with Jarrid, and feeding the animals. Sometimes, when the family went to the city, I stayed alone to look after the animals, and I really enjoyed the trust they gave me. I genuinely liked the animals — and their little personalities. The farm is a place full of kindness, good energy, and teamwork. I’m so grateful for the time I spent there! :))

Dear Nihat, what can I say? There would be no end to this. Nihat is such a wholesome, wonderful, pure, kind, loving person. When you think of heaven sent angels, I would definitely class Nihat as one. it was truly enriching to be in Nihat's company. Not only me but even all the animals loved being around him. You could feel the love that he gave to all his furry children. It was my first experience and I cannot express how grateful I am to have been under his care. He didn't make you feel like there was a hierarchy between us and treated me like family. We shared so many good conversations, I learned so much from him. The way he treats others, how he carries himself. What a beautiful soul. He taught me, that when you give, others will want to give back to you and that was exactly how I felt. I really wished I could have given more than what I had received. Thank you for shining and sharing your light here on this earth. So we can see and learn how to be a good example. How to be a true human. Nihat will always have a special place in my heart forever and I hope our paths will cross again one day. In fact I am sure we will meet again and create more beautiful things together out of good intentions 💜 Miss you Nihat! Stay blessed as always!

Outstanding House Sitters – Highly Recommended! We were incredibly lucky to have Julius and Helene as house sitters at our home in Stroheim, and we can wholeheartedly recommend them. Both of them are truly warm and kind people. Julius stayed with us for the full four weeks, and I had the pleasure of meeting him in person – we even spent one afternoon together before we left for our vacation. Helene, unfortunately, had already left before we returned, but it was clear that she also took great care of everything. Julius did an absolutely outstanding job. The animals were very well cared for – Nala immediately took a liking to them and even continued to check her room occasionally after they had left. Our rabbit and chickens were also in excellent hands. The garden was perfectly maintained, and we always enjoyed seeing photos of their wonderful outings. They discovered so many places we hadn’t yet explored ourselves. For us, it was especially nice to see that the trips we had planned for our new home were truly great ideas. Julius kept us informed at all times and wasn’t afraid to reach out if anything was needed. What I admired most was that he even told us when something broke – and he took responsibility for it. Oliver was able to fix it easily, but I truly respect Julius’s honesty and sense of responsibility. When we returned home, the house was in perfect condition. Julius even cooked something for us, so after a long trip we didn’t have to worry about dinner – such a thoughtful gesture! We would be delighted to welcome Julius and Helene back in the future and can wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone looking for caring, reliable, and responsible house sitters. We will definitely stay in touch and wish them many more wonderful adventures and travels. — Judith, Oliver, Rosa & Nala ❤️

Lisa was incredibly helpful and such a pleasure to host as a workaway. I showed her the jobs and she ploughed through them while making sure everything was done really well. I always felt I could count on her to understand what needed to be done and just be willing to jump in and lend a hand. Her presence definitely made things easier for me by being so easy to work with. We had very interesting conversations about life, the universe and everything in between. I would definitely welcome her back back. What stood out even more was how open and honest our conversations were, as we spoke about life, the universe and everything in between. It definitely made me think about things from a different perspective, being challenged is always good.

Working at this Finca was.. interesting. We were 5 Workawayers staying there, 4 boys and one girl. A lot of the work we did was very physical and demanding (unlike stated in the profile): cutting trees with machetes, digging trenches, shoveling and carrying horse poop, transfering a pile of compost one meter further, and so on, to the point that some tasks really felt pointless. It wasn't something that has to be complained about, just worth noting. The hard work was always done by the boys, even though the girl said she also wanted to do something more demanding instead of just polishing eggs. Fabrizio's (one of the brothers owning the place) persona was difficult to handle. He is very direct and intense, and expresses his opinions in a salesman-like way. Upon first meeting him on my third day at the finca, he immediately started ranting about feminists. To add to that, the dogs are treated really poorly, being beaten when they do something wrong (like stealing a shoe, which is just what dogs do). The dormitory does have a bathroom, but it has no door and was clogged while I was staying there. Also, this place has not been cleaned in a long long time. This is fine for people that don't mind the roughness and experience of it, but it could weird you out. However, it wasn't all bad. Piña and Johny are very hard working and always up for a chat, they tell a lot of interesting stories. The surrounding area is super quiet and right next to the jungle, which makes it perfect for a quiet getaway. Venecia is also very calm but lively on the weekends. I can only recommend playing football or basketball with the locals. To summarise: I can, morally and ethically, not recommend this workaway. However, if you want to go to a small town and get to know how a finca works, and want to chat with the workers of a finca in a beautiful spot, this is the place to go.
