We had a wonderful exchange ; in two weeks they helped me install a green roof, build a stone gabion basket and mix up concrete in preparation for a terrace, and in return I hope they enjoyed themselves, learned a little more about gardening and our corner of Normandy. We had loads in common; from the love of collecting seeds and plants to appreciating the small joys of the simple things. Hopefully they will return in the future to see the results of their efforts and maybe to climb together. Daria and Aleks, thank you immensely for both of your hard work and sharing your time with us. Imogen will miss you both! See you soon… Good luck for your future project !

This was my first experience with Workaway and it was very good. The town of Fermoy is small but charming. Michele and her family (her parents and her sister) were very kind and lovely to me throughout my stay. Moreover, they were patient in helping me with English. The tasks were really simple: helping to organize the house, sterilizing the babies' bottles, and keeping the kitchen clean. I would put clothes and towels to wash, then hang them out to dry, and then put them away. Sometimes I watched the twins and fed them while Michele could do other important activities. The twins are beautiful and adorable. They are very calm children. The environment was very calm and respectful. Michele, I really enjoyed spending 5 weeks with you all. Thank you for your patience at the beginning while I was adapting to your routine.

One of the most amazing weeks of our lives! (Oct 1st – Oct 8th) Last week was truly one of the most amazing weeks for us as it marked the beginning of our Workaway journey! Coming from a background of working with computers and having little to no hands-on experience with farm work, we started this new adventure with big hearts and lots of enthusiasm. Our first stop was with Oliver, at his beautiful farm surrounded by forest and we couldn’t have asked for a better host. Oliver is truly the kindest soul, full of patience and generosity. As complete beginners, we were a bit nervous, but Oliver took the time to teach us everything, from farm work and working with animals to baking fresh bread and even riding quad bikes! We happened to be there during stormy weather, so we helped with indoor cleaning, and on the sunny days, we worked in the garden and helped feed the farm animals. His forest is like something out of a fairytale full of stunning mushrooms and majestic trees. We also fell completely in love with his wonderful animals, especially the sweet dogs, Mara, Shieba, and Poppy. Our own dog, Bolt, got along so well with them, and we all enjoyed long walks together in the forest. Oliver wasn’t just a host to us he felt more like a father figure. We shared many heartfelt conversations while cooking and doing chores together, and we also had plenty of time to rest and recharge. He is incredibly caring, flexible, and understanding. We are deeply grateful to Oliver for giving us this unforgettable first opportunity to volunteer through Workaway. The memories we made will stay with us forever. We highly recommend Oliver to anyone in the Workaway community, specially first-time volunteers. Thank you, Oliver!

Staying with Su and Wolf was one of the best experiences I’ve had this year. I had such a wonderful time! I think the help in the garden wasn’t difficult at all, but truly rewarding. I won every single battle with nettles and weeds... or at least i tried haha! It was also a pleasure to pick fruits and then watch and take part in making different kinds of preserves. In the end, I even got to taste them and they were extremely delicious. Working in the garden helps you calm down – it’s a kind of meditation. There’s no need to rush anywhere. You can simply enjoy the moment and be present in the here and now :)) The whole house is filled with warmth and love – you can really feel like part of the family. You eat delicious food, have deep talks about life, share jokes, and sometimes even sing together haha! Su and Wolf are such lovely people, with whom you can talk for hours. They always have something interesting to say, they’re funny and kind, and I truly feel like I gained two new friends during my stay. Three weeks went by so fast – way too fast! I wholeheartedly recommend this place! No matter what happens, I definitely want to come back next year!

Having Chris and Yasmin was a pleasure for us, they were such a lovely couple and we shared nice experiences and learned things from them. Kevin and Chris are football maniacs, loved the interaction and the passion for football. Excellent workawayers. Recommended. Yasmin has this teaching talent and patience when it comes to dealing with students. See you guys and farewell.

Probably one of the best workaways I've ever done! Unfortunately, it didn't last long; I would have liked to spend much more time here. Everything is very relaxing and perfect if you want to spend some time away from the chaos. Cristina is a fantastic, sweet person, and we had some wonderful times together! You're a 20-minute walk from the nearest town, and you can catch buses along the way to get around easily! It's the perfect place if you're looking for tranquility and a small, local experience in one of the most beautiful areas of Colombia. Thank you, Cristina, for this wonderful experience! See you in Panama 🔆❤️

I had such a great time staying here! They’re super kind and easygoing, and made me feel right at home from day one. The work was fun and clear — mostly gardening and small home projects — and I really enjoyed it. We also had lots of good conversations about life and culture, which I appreciated a lot. Everything was well organized, and I always felt trusted and respected. Thanks again for having me — I’d be happy to come back anytime!

I had an amazing time at this hostel! Nicolas is super friendly and makes you feel right at home from the start. He always takes the time to chat with the volunteers and creates a really welcoming atmosphere. We cooked together, prepared the hostel for the season, and shared lots of fun evenings and board game nights. Nicolas also knows a lot about things to do in the area and even joined us for some great activities. I definitely recommend this place to everyone — I felt genuinely welcomed and comfortable throughout my stay.

Andreas and his off grid living is a treasure, a blessing and a wonderful unique experience all together in Asturias. we enjoyed the hard work, the challenges, the social time, the silent time, the land with meadows, forests, ruins, fruit trees, wild and -not so much- animals. the excursions into hidden places! Andreas makes a lot of effort to integrate everyone into the life, the experiences and social circles so this experience becomes very homey, cosy and eye opening. we learnt quite some skills about permaculture, gardening, stonewall building, wood, preserving, team work, lots of other skills, and just simply being as self sufficient as possible.. every day was different in terms of tasks, and we always made sure to gather for a beautiful lunch break with gifts from the garden all together. i would highly recommend this unique place for those who are seeking serenity, healing, deep conversations and for those who are not afraid of hard work, sometimes wild living and facing all the sides of off grid experience. We're forever grateful for the time we got to spend with Andreas, and for all the experiences that emerged while we were there! thank you Andreas and your beautiful land! 🐗🐻🫶🏻🎋

It was very nice to have Petra with us. She is a very skilled person and helped us a lot with a variaty of tasks like painting, isolating, setting up wooden planks, gardening, fixing an old table and even taking photos! She took every task and project with ownership and accomplished them with efficacy. Petra is friendly, calm and respectful which made the stay smooth and easy. We shared meals, nice chats, a walk in the forest and meditation time in the evening. She is an independent person who has a good balance between socializing and having time for herself. We appreciated a lot her respect for the house, her genuine interest in our projects and her interaction with our cat Coco. We totally recommend to host Petra as she is the perfect guest! Welcome back anytime :)

Mary is a natural in the garden. I took her on a quick tour to explain our 'vision' and she remembered every detail, and worked wonders. She was self-motivated and she worked with care, attention to detail and cleared up after herself every day. She achieved an impressive amount of work for us. Tsita is a delight and a super, easy guest :)

I had an amazing time at Jimmy‘s home. Although I was alone for a week, I didn‘t mind it, since I had plenty things to do to entertain myself. In my free time, I often went swimming in the lake nearby (around this time of year there are not many people), tried the sauna, went for walks in the forest to pick berries and made jam for the first time. Later, two other volunteers joined and we also had a good time. Since Jimmy was not at home, we got to choose the work ourselves, based on what we liked to do and what we thought needed to be done. So that could be garden work, some deep cleaning and decluttering/organising or making jam and other things in the kitchen. The house is in a cute neighbourhood on the countryside, but there are also bikes to get around and buses if you want to go to a bigger city like Stockholm, which I really appreciated. I met Jimmy once and had some interesting talks with him, where I learned many new things. He’s a very open and nice person. If you‘re interested in spending some time in the Swedish countryside and being able to plan your day how you like it, I definitely recommend this place. You might also get to know some interesting people :)

We had a lovely week at Nik & Donna’s farmhouse. I mostly did gardening, which was fine by me. The food was great and dogs are super cute! Also the room we stayed in was very comfortable, and the surrounding countryside is gorgeous. I got to learn a little bit about canning, which was a bonus, and visit the local market. Overall, the hosts took excellent care of us!
