Our three generation family loved meeting Carla and enjoyed her company, her excellent help and especially the special carrot cake she made for us all to enjoy. We hope to see her again soon! We highly recommend her as she worked hard in the yardwork, driving the lawn tractor, washing the F50 four wheel truck, helping with siding, garden, kitchen etc. She was especially friendly, kind, happy, and helpful to us all. Good luck on your marathon in Toronto Carla! We look forward to a visit anytime you come back to the island!

I spent one month at the Buffalo Ranch, from the middle of August 2025 until the middle of September. It was my first Workaway experience, and at first, I wasn’t sure if it would be a good decision or not. From the very first moment I met Leo, I felt his warmth and closeness. The ranch and its surroundings are stunning, but it’s Leo who truly makes the place special. Every song he plays, his kindness… everything creates a wonderful atmosphere. Ranchi, his cat, is so sweet and beautiful, and the buffalos are just incredible. It was a pleasure to help Leo with the tasks, which were easy and enjoyable. It was an unforgettable experience, shared with all the amazing people I met there. I will always remember it.

I had the absolute best time at Candy & Greg's place - I really felt like part of the family :) I highly recommend it for a unique horse experience. Her herd of 5 mares are a delight to spend time with - as is she! Expect plenty of time on the ground with horses, some riding, lots of laughs and a cold plunge or two if that’s your thing! At Candy’s I learnt about natural horsemanship, we worked the horses at liberty and performed exercises with them on the ground. It was fascinating learning to behave like a horse, and very satisfying to get ‘join-up’. Candy’s guidance helped me understand the many ways of interacting with horses beyond riding - including spending time with the herd, walking with them and watching them interact naturally. Her 5 mares are bonded as a herd and watching them interact with each other you can really see each of their individual personalities come out, which is really special to witness! Candy also introduced me to totally new experiences, such as using essential oils and practicing reiki with horses. I rode two of her young horses - Opal and Bonnie - during my time with Candy, and Candy gave me guidance when riding. The horses themselves are sweethearts and I totally fell in love with them. Candy & Greg very kindly lent me their car and lots of their camping gear on two occasions so that I could explore the area, which I really appreciated. We also made lots of lovely trips to swimming holes around their place. If you're into reading Candy has an excellent selection of horse books to peruse during your down time, including lots that she has written. Uralla is a really nice wee town with a super coffee shop - we were lucky enough to go boot scooting there while I stayed with them. Huge love from me to Candy, Greg, Willow & the herd and can't wait to see you all again xxx

Vilmos came at a time when our schedules were pretty busy. He helped weed flower gardens, trim grass, helped us secure the pool for the winter, , fed the chickens, entertained our dog, and even made dinner a few times. He did all of this while taking online classes for his Finance degree. He is a pleasant, respectful young man with big ambitions. We had some good conversations about a variety of topics. He did have a few opportunities to explore the local area by bike and on the weekends when we were home we did a few “field trips” during his two weeks with us. His English is very good and we practiced more through evening and weekend conversations. He is welcome to visit again in the future. We would highly recommend him to other hosts.

Dear Saori, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your beautiful words. You are an absolutely delightful person, elegant in your gestures, in the way you speak and move, and so deeply kind. It was a joy to have you with us. Your presence was sweet and serene, and yet your strength and dedication were impressive. Despite the language barrier, which truly never felt like a barrier, we connected heart to heart from the very beginning and that kind of connection is rare and precious. Your work was always impeccable, full of care and detail. The smudge sticks you made were simply beautiful, and your help was always offered with generosity and grace. You managed to balance your remote job and the work here with incredible discipline, early mornings, busy days, and still, you found space to give your best to the project and to the people around you. You integrated beautifully into the volunteer group, and everyone truly appreciated and loved you. The videos you created for our project, both with your phone and the drone, were stunning and are a gift we’ll keep with gratitude. I hope to see you again in the future. I’ll never forget that big hug we shared when you got off the bus, feeling a little lost. I hope life brings us together again to share more hugs, more smiles, and more beautiful moments. Thank you, Saori. With love and deep gratitude.

Anton Stayed with us for his first work away experience. He was the perfect guest for this program, and is highly recommended. Anton is one smart cookie. He picked up complex new tasks the first time, without making mistakes. Everything from automotive repair and diagnostics, to online resource management and communications. We worked on a lot of museum model building which isn't easy. He picked it up fast. He's a very respectable roommate, and a joy to have around. And always welcome back as just a guest and friend. Even the dog misses him. Sincerely, JP.

Thank you, Priyanka, for staying with our family. We got to taste Indian food for the first time, and it was really amazing. The spices are quite similar to Thai cuisine. The care and effort you put into your cooking made it turn out so well. Thank you also for helping with planting vegetables and arranging the garden — your help made our work go so smoothly. We’ve even thought that if we ever have the chance to visit India, we’d love to come and see you. Thank you so much!

My time at the Farm was a unique experience I’ll cherish. I met many wonderful people, Herman, Tanju, and several fellow workawayers who quickly became friends. I stayed for three weeks and learned a lot about natural building and carpentry, especially the straw-bale structures, even though most of my contribution was in helping Herman with his online presence and creating a video introduction for his YouTube channel. If you have digital or creative skills, Herman will definitely appreciate your help in that area. Food-wise, we cooked for ourselves, and Herman kindly provided everything we needed, doing weekly grocery trips based on our list. Herman is a disciplined man with strong values and deep knowledge. Conversations with him often stretched into engaging discussions about religion, history, art, and engineering, always thought-provoking. Two things he values above all in community are cleanliness and thoughtfulness toward others. The working hours were clearly defined. There were occasional requests to help outside those hours, like cleaning common areas on the weekend. It might be smoother if that cleaning time were included in the regular schedule. Overall, I wish Herman great success with his project. I believe this Farm will flourish as he finds more balance between his strong discipline and the relaxed spirit of community life.

My apologies for taking such a long time before writing my review. I spent almost three weeks with Katherina and Regis during June, and it was a most pleasant workaway. I particularly liked the chance to take full responsibility for the horses, looking after them and riding out unsupervised, and the chance to share the knowledge that I’ve gained throughout my life. For me it was the perfect break and I would have loved to have stayed longer. I received a very good welcome, and we went riding together, had the chance to meet friends and join a picnic ride, also the chance to explore the surrounding area a bit. There were also convivial family evenings and weekends. The accommodation is in the house, a lovely room adjoining the kitchen, and perfect for a midnight feast. But there is one thing to bear in mind. This is a very busy family. This is the main reason that workawayer help is required, workawayers who are capable with horses and good riders. As a consequence it’s necessary to be able to organise yourself and take charge of the jobs without supervision, and to be happy to work alone. For those who understand this, I can recommend a stay here.

This place is genuinely amazing and so inspiring. The people here are so kind, compassionate, communicative, caring and talented. I was planning to stay for two weeks but I stayed for a month, and to be honest I didn't wanted to leave! I learned a lot about natural farming, how to use some tools, about our surroundings and about sense of community. This place would be forever in my heart and hopefully I will come back next summer. Thank u for everything, all you guys healed me and made me happy in so many ways that u couldn't imagine.

I spent 4 wonderful weeks with Margueritte, Frank, and their son Denis in rural Ireland. It was my first Workaway experience and it was truly enriching. From the first day, they made me feel part of the family. My days were filled with looking after the animals (goat, sheep, chickens, ducks…), working in the polytunnel, weeding, and helping with various other tasks. The work was varied and meaningful, and I could always see the results of what I did. Margueritte clearly explained each task and sometimes worked alongside me. Beyond the work, I had the chance to explore beautiful Irish landscapes during our hikes, visit nearby towns like Wexford and Waterford, and enjoy fun evenings playing cards or chatting with friends by the fire. Life at their home is lively and welcoming. Margueritte is very kind and caring, always cooking delicious homemade meals for dinner and sharing stories. I enjoyed Frank’s sense of humor, while Denis is curious and full of energy ; we had a lot of fun playing and running together. In short : an authentic, warm, and unforgettable first Workaway experience. I highly recommend Margueritte’s family to anyone looking to live genuine cultural exchange and discover the charm of rural Ireland. Thank you so much to all three of you for your trust, generosity, and all the good memories ! 'Albert'

A wonderful experience!!! I stayed with Elena for four weeks to help her with various projects at her home. I felt very welcome and welcomed. Elena is a very interesting woman and cooks very well. Pippo the dog was also a very good companion. I was very happy to have met them and spent the time of my life with them. The village is very peaceful and not far from the center. It's also very convenient because you can take the train to visit several major cities in northern Italy, such as Verona, Milan, and Bergamo..... The city of Brescia is very interesting to visit. There are buses every 10 minutes and bike paths. It was a very enriching and interesting experience for me. I will never forget you, and you will always remain in my memories.🚴‍♂️

This was my first Workaway experience (although I’m no stranger to volunteering) and I’m incredibly grateful that my path led me here. The Finca has left a lasting impact on me, and I can wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a meaningful and eye-opening experience. Wolfy and Brian are incredible hosts: warm, knowledgeable, and deeply committed to their vision. The work on the finca is physical but genuinely enjoyable, with a flexible structure and a strong sense of purpose. There’s something deeply satisfying about working with your hands, especially when it’s followed by sharing delicious food and tasting fruit straight from the land you’ve helped care for. A pineapple a day (or 2!) keeps the Dr away! One of the most powerful aspects of this experience was seeing the deforestation of the Amazon firsthand. It's an image that stays with you: sobering, painful, but necessary to witness. It has opened my eyes in a way that I won’t forget, and it deepened my appreciation for the importance of projects like this, which give hope and offer real solutions through sustainable living and reforestation. In my free time, I loved exploring the surrounding nature. "Walkies!" A highlight was the waterfall trail, Aguaventura, where I had the waterfalls completely to myself and was treated to a delicious vegan lunch by a lovely local family. It was magical. Wolfy and Brian’s vision is truly inspirational. They’re up against enormous odds, but their dedication and heart shine through in everything they do. Their commitment to the land and the future of the Amazon is nothing short of admirable. If you're looking for a place to connect with nature, learn about permaculture, and contribute to a cause that truly matters: this is it. I recommend this project with all my heart.

I’m deeply grateful for the days spent in Olympas, where Nihat welcomed me not just into his guesthouse, but into a shared vision of transformation.” Share what you did, learned, and felt. Be honest but kind. Mention tasks, atmosphere, and any cultural exchange. “Together, we reimagined the old workshop into a space of warmth and welcome. I supported with cleaning, organizing, coocking and offering ideas that honored both the practical and emotional needs of the place.” Reflect on the human connection—how you communicated, collaborated, and grew together. > “Nihat’s trust and openness allowed for a gentle rhythm of collaboration. We navigated challenges with mutual respect, and I felt safe to offer both my hands and my heart.” “At times, clarity around expectations would have helped us move more smoothly. I believe future volunteers will benefit from open conversations early on.” “May this guesthouse continue to bloom with stories, kindness, and the quiet joy of shared purpose. I carry its spirit with me.”

I stayed on Litløya for 6 weeks and I couldn’t have asked for a more unique adventure for my first workaway experience. While this was easily the most off-grid situation i’ve found myself in, it never felt too isolated because of the great team on the island and the cats too of course (shoutout to Lawrence and Lucy). It was also amazing getting to spend time so close to nature, especially getting to see auroras for the first time. Even if the island may seem small at first, there is endless exploring to be done and lots of berries to be picked along the way! I spent most of my time drilling and moving stones to help with the renovations taking place. Not only was it a great workout but I was able to learn so much about rocks, stones, and the unique ways of being able to move them, thanks to Kuba’s creativity. Thank you so much Elena for having me, especially on such short notice. I’m very grateful for the time I got to spend on the island and am already looking forward to making my way back.
