"This is sure to be an eye-opening experience for you, and it will change your life forever"
Greetings nature-loving world travelers 😊 If you would be interested in experiencing a life of simplicity, tranquility, and freedom while learning and gaining experience in food forest permaculture and natural building, then our eco farming project in the Ecuadorian Amazon is calling you,
We are serious about growing an abundance of food, helping reforest the Amazon, and living freely in peace with nature. We welcome volunteers who:
1) Are vegan (ethics are very important for the people we invite to this project and share living space with),
2) Practice natural hygiene and health (no chemical products or pharmaceuticals - we don’t support harming the earth with toxic products), and
3) Are female (due to the shared sleeping space)
We became the caretakers of 3.5 hectares of land in November of 2023 where we are creating a high-density, biodiverse organic food forest focusing on tropical fruit, nature-based living, bioconstruction, environmental conservation, sustainability, and knowledge sharing. We live very simply, connecting and working with the natural environment and with the goal of being as self-sufficient as possible.
As you may know, the Amazon Rainforest is one of the most significant ecosystems in the world facing massive destruction due to human activity - mostly animal agriculture. This project is helping reforest and improve a small piece of land that was previously used for cattle grazing and monoculture farming, but it is also part of a larger-scale developing project to help protect and restore as much of the Amazon Rainforest as possible. So, your efforts and energy here won’t be going towards a business or any for-profit project, but rather you will be doing your part contributing to helping save one of the most important environments on this earth.
The land is producing bananas, plantains, sugar cane, guavas, limes, cacao, coffee, bamboo, and luffas, as well as (less abundant or seasonal) some sweet juicy pineapples, papayas,, ice cream bean, oranges, mandarins, rambutans, coconuts, capsicums, rollinia (a jungle anona), badea (a large passion fruit), toilet paper plant fruit (yes we wrote a song about that) some other exotic tropical fruits, medicinal plants, pumpkins, beans, yuca, ginger, turmeric, some herbs like basil, lemongrass, mint, stevia, culantro, and a few others.
Most fruits are seasonal, and there are several other fruit trees maturing and starting in the nursery, as we are adding many more native and exotic tropical fruits, flowers, and edible or useable plants. We also make chocolate and experiment with creating some unique and exotic combinations with fruits and other flavors.
We also like to play music, if you have any instruments or like to sing we would love to jam and drum with you. There is a guitar here and a few homemade instruments that anyone can play.
The climate here is very nice, there's a lot of sun and quite a bit of nice tropical rain (usually at night). It's rarely too hot or too cold and the weather changes quite a bit. The days are usually warm enough that we don't need much in the way of clothing, and the nights are cool and fresh for comfortable sleeping.
Plant medicines are welcome here, but this space is free of alcohol or cigarettes .We also don’t use animals for any purpose (including keeping them as pets, or eating them or anything they make), use chemicals, or bring unnecessary trash on the land.
No food or products made from an animal should be brought or consumed here (like meat, fish, milk, butter, cheese, cream, eggs, honey, etc).and chemical soaps, shampoos, cosmetics, toothpastes, perfumes, etc should also not be used here.
This project is about “fruiterrarism”: “blatantly growing as much fruit as possible with the aim of creating an alternative to Babylon”. We are most interested in people who share this vision and are serious about protecting the environment, growing food, reforesting, and living as freely and self-sufficiently as possible.Tipos de ajuda e oportunidades de aprendizado

Oportunidades de intercâmbio cultural e aprendizado
You will get great exercise outdoors while having a hands-on experience learning about sustainable food forest creation, permaculture, nature-based living, natural building, and other creative activities. We can share what we know about the culture and lifestyle in Ecuador, help you with English or Spanish if you are learning, and introduce to you locals in town and the surrounding area. We can also help you learn to play the guitar or percussion if you are interested.
We welcome people from all walks of life whether you're big, small, young, old, rich, poor, straight, LGBT, and whether you can dance or not (although dancing machines are extra welcome), and we are open to learning from and sharing this experience with everyone. We want to hear your life and travel stories, your views on the world, your ideas and opinions. We are also happy to share the experiences from our adventures, the knowledge we have acquired, and any insight we can to help you accomplish your goals in life.
We can specifically share the super secret ninja tricks we have learned about creating and managing a food forest, nature-based living, navigating the world, living more freely, learning languages, living a healthy life, making music, natural building, natural healing (Brian hasn't been to a doctor, hospital, or used any pharmaceutical medicine since 2013, despite having many fairly serious injuries and some health challenges) and more. As we are always learning as well, we always welcome everyone to share their knowledge and wisdom.Ajuda
Most of the work here is maintaining the garden areas, planting, and building:
1. Gardening: Planting (digging holes for trees or planting ground cover), pruning, harvesting, composting, pest control, and most importantly weeding or chopping grass with a machete.
2. Handcrafting and Construction: Using bamboo or other natural materials from the land to make a variety of items for the house or garden; for example furniture, tools, housewares, fixtures, structures, etc.
* You don’t need experience working in a garden or with bamboo, you can learn when you are here.
There are also a variety of other garden and home care projects like environmental cleanup, general maintenance, repairs, or improvements as needed, preparing food, cleaning etc to add some variety.
We welcome your ideas if you think of any projects you would like to do, as long as it helps the food forest or the living space.
Volunteers here enjoy a work hard/chill hard environment You can spend a few hours a day getting your workout in the garden or building something interesting, and have the rest of the day free to go to the river, hang out in a hammock, or do whatever you like.Idiomas

We love learning and helping others with languages. We speak English, Spanish, French, Vietnamese, and a little of many other languages. We are happy to teach you what we can and would love to learn some of whatever languages you speak 😊Acomodação
There is a loft upstairs in one of the homes on the land with a large bedroom that has two beds with mattresses, bedding, and mosquito nets. There is also a chill room with a hammock and beautiful view of the surrounding land and mountains. There is a kitchen, bathroom, electricity,, and running water, but at this time the house doesn’t have much in the way of furnishings, no refrigerator, and nothing like a washing machine, microwave, or TV. There is some wifi signal there, and there is a bodega near the main house with a stronger connection if you need it.
There are some beautiful rivers and streams within walking distance that you can enjoy for swimming or cooling off in, as well as a mirador (lookout) with expansive views over the Amazon rainforest and distant plains.
There are also many picturesque places on the land where you can chill in a hammock, sit under the shade of the trees, or perch up on a hill to take in the views of the jungle and nearby Gran Sumaco volcano while listening to the sounds of the rain forest. You will see and hear lots of beautiful birds, butterflies, and insects, listen to the symphony of the howler monkeys, frogs, and other animals, and have the chance to see interesting wildlife native to the Amazon.
We are surrounded by the wild Amazon jungle with lots of vegetation around, so we share this space with all kinds of beings We love to listen to the birds and other animals around us, enjoy the sun on our skin and feel the earth beneath our bare feet. This is a (usually) quiet, relaxing, and peaceful place to connect with yourself, nature, and the people around you, do yoga or meditation, and experience a holistic healing by nourishing our bodies with clean air and fresh food from the land.
The land is about a 30-minute bus ride from the town of Loreto. There is one bus in the morning and 2 in the afternoon, and it’s about a 10-15 minute walk to the road where you can catch them.
There are several free or inexpensive excursions you can enjoy when you’re not working, from exploring rivers and waterfalls to the nearby bioreserve or the town o f Loreto.
We are happy to help set you in the right direction.
Since we you won't spend so much time working volunteers provide most of their own food, which is relatively inexpensive in this area (we usually spend $1-2 a day each on food) and so that you can eat what you like. There is a food truck that usually comes by once a week and a few general stores in the area that sell some basic staples. It's about a 10 minute walk to meet the food truck, and you can also make a trip to town if you need more.
We are happy to share the food growing on the land with you as well, which is usually bananas, plantains, sugar cane, limes, greens, herbs, and sometimes pineapples or other fruits depending on the season. Usually there is food to harvest but sometimes there isn't, but we are always trying to increase the food supply so there is more food to share.
There is also an opportunity for people who share the values/vision/mission to stay for the long term and live a simple lifestyle connected to nature, disconnected from Babylon as much as possible, growing their own food, being accepted for who they are, and collaborating with other like-minded people in order to live as self-sufficiently and freely as we can.
This could either be on this land as part of this project, or there is relatively inexpensive land nearby for people who may want to create their own project and collaborate together.
If you are interested in staying here please let us know approximately what date you would plan to arrive in your message.Algo mais...
