I had such a wonderful time staying with Gerlinde! The valley location is just beautiful - an amazing, cosy yet spacious eco house in the bush, forest all around, with the chatter of birds and the hum of the river throughout the day. Gerlinde was a great host, very welcoming, and an amazing chef! The work was varied and interesting, with opportunity to undertake lots of different tasks around the house and garden. After spending days chopping wood or helping with gardening it was lovely to dip in the river! I learned lots from Gerlinde about the unique ecology of the region and how it can be protected, something she is passionate about. It was also great to have the chance to get a bit involved in the local community - during my stay I was able to see some fantastic live music at a great local venue, as well as attend a local yoga class. The location is also ideal if you are hoping to visit Cape Reinga, the 90 mile beach or other locations in Northland, these are all less than two hours drive away. I was sad to leave after such a great experience, but I feel rejuvenated and refreshed for spending time in this place. Would highly recommend!

I really loved my stay at Ecologica! Victoria and Felipe are amazing hosts, very welcoming and passionate about their project. I enjoyed my time with them so much, not only working on the project but also exploring the beautiful region around and having a lot of fun together. They took me to magical spots at rivers, the sea and a crazy volcano! They also introduced me to their friends and family, taught me the colombian spanish and showed me crazy local mektos and how to cook delicious colombian food - just the real locombiano experience :) The work was diverse and very interesting, and depends on your interests and skills. I have an engineering background, so I often helped in the workshop and programmed some tools for data analysis and route planning. I also joined them on a community visit tour, and since I also coach soccer back home, we organized a fun soccer session with a recycling relation for local kids! There’s so much to do and learn, and many ways to contribute. I enjoyed it a lot and would 100% recommend to volunteer at this very interesting and impactful project. I only spent 2,5 weeks there, but it felt like 2 months because I experienced so much — muchas gracias y hasta pronto!

We stayed here for two weeks and absolutely loved it, it was such a unique and amazing experience. We would've loved to have stayed longer if we had time, i would reccomend staying longer as you won't want to leave. The workaway was as described, there was so much free time to play and bond with the dogs, attend rescues, oversee surgeries or relax at the house. We stayed with other volunteers and made friends for life. All of the clinic staff were so kind and the accommodation was clean and good for what we needed. I would recommend this workaway to anyone who loves animals and wants to really make a difference to their time in a shelter

We had a great time with James, Sarah, Alberto, Arabella and Mogul. We felt like we got integrated into the family live quickly and were able to help around the property and with a construction project. We got to go on amazing hikes which we would not have been able to access with a rental car. We did a pizza evening together and got loads of tasty food over our stay. Special thanks to Sarah for all the food prep while she was gone for a week. We also had a great time going bouldering in Golden with Alberto and did 5 pin bowling for the first time ever. Mogul is a lovely dog with an amazing character. The cows, pigs and chicken were also lovely and super friendly. For a few mornings we saw deer in the garden and at night one could hear coyotes and see a lot of stars. As we were the first workawayers after the families summer vacation we did quite a bit of maintenance work and only later started a consturuction project with James. This was no problem, we still had a good time and the work was very reasonable. We feel like there will usually always be an exciting construction project going on, as there are just so many amazing projects to be done on the beautiful property. We hope all will be going well and the ranch will be ready for the Canadian winter soon. Our three weeks went by really fast and we had a great time.

I stayed at Susanne’s home for one week, and I can only say it was a really beautiful experience. The balance between work and free time is very fair. I truly enjoyed Susanne’s company, our conversations (thanks to her patience with my English level 😅), every dinner prepared with so much care, and my walks with Tashi. Susanne is an incredibly curious and active woman, always willing to learn and do things. I had the chance to join her in some of her activities, and those moments have become lovely memories from my stay in the Blue Mountains. I totally recommend this place if you want to feel at home, have meaningful chats, and enjoy the calm and beauty of nature. Thank you so much, Susanne (and Tashi 😉)!

Cynthia took in the tasks very quickly and did everything with a smile! She also learned a lot of spanish to our daughter while playing with her! I think you will be in her memory for a long time! the two weeks passed so fast but you will always be welcomed if you come back to canada! the different tasks were from harvesting, transforming, bottleling, cleaning, playing, covering the field, feed the chickens and many other things! everything was done with care and always a clean job :) Gracis por todo!

We were the first workawayers at this host and stayed here for about a week. For us it was the first time in the Philippines and this was a great way to get to know the country. Although the connection to the other workers was a bit stiff at first, we managed to connect with them pretty quick and are so grateful for their hospitality. The sense of community at the Apiary is what makes it special! Also, such a beautiful landscape to work in. Hope to visit this place again when we're back in the Philippines

Louis and Hope stayed with us this fall for a much too short time. They were great with our child, worked hard on the fire wood production and were super fun to have around. If they've only had more time to stay longer :-) Thanks again you two and have fun in Revy!

Tristan stayed with us for several months this spring and summer. He was a great help with all our projects, reliably took care of our place when we were away and was an awesome child entertainer :-) Thanks again Tristan, come visit us soon!

For my very first workaway experience I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Karen and her family are truly the most kind and welcoming people, from the moment I arrived I felt so comfortable in their lovely home. I enjoyed all my tasks and got to do a variety of things like sewing, learning how to cook new meals, picking countless berries in the sun and collecting fresh rhubarb from the garden to make juicy fruit crisp. The highlight of all of the jobs of course being the hourly check ins from the sweetest dogs in the world. It would be impossible for me to pick a favourite memory from the time i spent here as I loved every second from the peaceful walks with Rhubee to getting to spend time with Penny and the horses, every moment was full of happiness. I also had so much fun going to local events with Karen and getting to meet some of her incredibly talented and hilarious friends I’m so thankful to Karen, Ryan and Penny for taking me in and including me so much. I was so sad to leave, but look back fondly on every memory and can’t wait to visit again ! I would highly recommend them as hosts to anyone who gets the chance, you truly won't regret it !

I spent 5 days with Regine and it was wonderful. My task there was to do some woodwork: restoring a bench, a table, and a few chairs — mostly sanding them. I wanted to match how well I was treated by Regine, but that wasn’t easy, because she was incredibly kind and generous: she gave me a lovely room with a comfortable bed, cooked delicious meals for me, and took me to see the surroundings. She knows the area well and told me about local life and some of its history, both recent and medieval. Regine is a pleasant and interesting person, and it was a real pleasure to share time with her during my stay — I just wish it had been longer. Thank you for everything, Regine!

Our three generation family loved meeting Carla and enjoyed her company, her excellent help and especially the special carrot cake she made for us all to enjoy. We hope to see her again soon! We highly recommend her as she worked hard in the yardwork, driving the lawn tractor, washing the F50 four wheel truck, helping with siding, garden, kitchen etc. She was especially friendly, kind, happy, and helpful to us all. Good luck on your marathon in Toronto Carla! We look forward to a visit anytime you come back to the island!

I spent one month at the Buffalo Ranch, from the middle of August 2025 until the middle of September. It was my first Workaway experience, and at first, I wasn’t sure if it would be a good decision or not. From the very first moment I met Leo, I felt his warmth and closeness. The ranch and its surroundings are stunning, but it’s Leo who truly makes the place special. Every song he plays, his kindness… everything creates a wonderful atmosphere. Ranchi, his cat, is so sweet and beautiful, and the buffalos are just incredible. It was a pleasure to help Leo with the tasks, which were easy and enjoyable. It was an unforgettable experience, shared with all the amazing people I met there. I will always remember it.

I had the absolute best time at Candy & Greg's place - I really felt like part of the family :) I highly recommend it for a unique horse experience. Her herd of 5 mares are a delight to spend time with - as is she! Expect plenty of time on the ground with horses, some riding, lots of laughs and a cold plunge or two if that’s your thing! At Candy’s I learnt about natural horsemanship, we worked the horses at liberty and performed exercises with them on the ground. It was fascinating learning to behave like a horse, and very satisfying to get ‘join-up’. Candy’s guidance helped me understand the many ways of interacting with horses beyond riding - including spending time with the herd, walking with them and watching them interact naturally. Her 5 mares are bonded as a herd and watching them interact with each other you can really see each of their individual personalities come out, which is really special to witness! Candy also introduced me to totally new experiences, such as using essential oils and practicing reiki with horses. I rode two of her young horses - Opal and Bonnie - during my time with Candy, and Candy gave me guidance when riding. The horses themselves are sweethearts and I totally fell in love with them. Candy & Greg very kindly lent me their car and lots of their camping gear on two occasions so that I could explore the area, which I really appreciated. We also made lots of lovely trips to swimming holes around their place. If you're into reading Candy has an excellent selection of horse books to peruse during your down time, including lots that she has written. Uralla is a really nice wee town with a super coffee shop - we were lucky enough to go boot scooting there while I stayed with them. Huge love from me to Candy, Greg, Willow & the herd and can't wait to see you all again xxx

Vilmos came at a time when our schedules were pretty busy. He helped weed flower gardens, trim grass, helped us secure the pool for the winter, , fed the chickens, entertained our dog, and even made dinner a few times. He did all of this while taking online classes for his Finance degree. He is a pleasant, respectful young man with big ambitions. We had some good conversations about a variety of topics. He did have a few opportunities to explore the local area by bike and on the weekends when we were home we did a few “field trips” during his two weeks with us. His English is very good and we practiced more through evening and weekend conversations. He is welcome to visit again in the future. We would highly recommend him to other hosts.

Dear Saori, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your beautiful words. You are an absolutely delightful person, elegant in your gestures, in the way you speak and move, and so deeply kind. It was a joy to have you with us. Your presence was sweet and serene, and yet your strength and dedication were impressive. Despite the language barrier, which truly never felt like a barrier, we connected heart to heart from the very beginning and that kind of connection is rare and precious. Your work was always impeccable, full of care and detail. The smudge sticks you made were simply beautiful, and your help was always offered with generosity and grace. You managed to balance your remote job and the work here with incredible discipline, early mornings, busy days, and still, you found space to give your best to the project and to the people around you. You integrated beautifully into the volunteer group, and everyone truly appreciated and loved you. The videos you created for our project, both with your phone and the drone, were stunning and are a gift we’ll keep with gratitude. I hope to see you again in the future. I’ll never forget that big hug we shared when you got off the bus, feeling a little lost. I hope life brings us together again to share more hugs, more smiles, and more beautiful moments. Thank you, Saori. With love and deep gratitude.
