Elke and Isaac initially came for a short, last minute week and stayed a few days longer and they had a very dynamic affect on our sauna project. They brought a load of skills, experience and enthusiasm and suddenly our little mud hut started to look like a real sauna. They were so lovely to have around and we all enjoyed their conversation and sharing their experiences. Great company and we so appreciated all their work. Good luck with the rest of the journey.

Lucy was a delightful person to have around for nearly a month. She house sat and looked after a bunch of animals for a week and then got really involved with mud building on our new sauna and getting very dirty every day. We had a few different bits of work going on and she was happy to help with everything. She also decorated a few doors with beautiful art - lovely flowers that bring the room to life. We all enjoyed her company and appreciated her work and I wish her good luck.

It was my first time hosting a volunteer from workaway and I hope everyone who comes in the future will be like Max 🙌 So smart, so respectful, and always making good vibes! I hope you come back again bro! It was a pleasure to host you 🤝 Thank you so much for everything… even when you did nothing 😂

The best workaway experience I've had and it's not even close. If the host rating looks low its because Sam works several weeks on then several weeks off, when he's on he doesn't have a lot of time to respond to workaway requests but when he's off he's 100% dedicated to the boat and his crew. So if he's slow to respond at first thats why. But I've never had such a generous host. My time on the boat was insanely memorable and insanely fun. I learned a lot and would do it again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend.

la verdad que nuestra experiencia en la fundación y con Martín fue excelente, nos sentimos muy cómodes en todo momento y la propuesta nos encantó. Esta fue una experiencia que abrió nuestros ojos y cambio nuestra perspectiva sobre el mundo, nos hizo sentir llenes de amor y poder dar amor a personas que lo necesitas se sintió muy bien. Tanto las tareas de la huerta, como las de servir la comida o socializar con las personas de la fundación, nos parecieron muy agradables, también Martín es una persona de 10 y apreciamos mucho todas las experiencias que pasamos junto a él y los otros voluntarios en la fundación, compartiendo asados, risas y charlas profundas, totalmente un hombre con mucho que decir y escuchar. Muchas gracias a la fundación por esta hermosa oportunidad y formación.

I stayed here for two weeks, staying here was truly unforgettable. I came for the grape harvest but ended up experiencing so much more — from collecting mushrooms in the forest and singing karaoke in the evenings, to helping fix machines, cleaning, packing wine, and even seeing the whole winemaking process up close. Massimiliano, Ricky, Jenny and other welcomed I very warmly and made I feel completely at home. They share everything, treat you like one of their own, and the food is absolutely delicious (even if dinner sometimes starts at 10 p.m. 😄). Life here can feel a bit chaotic at times — and honestly, it is — but if you just go with the flow and embrace it, you’ll be rewarded with laughter, connection, and a true taste of Italian life. Grazie mille for everything — it was a beautiful experience full of warmth, fun, and authenticity! ❤️ Oooo madre!! I would definitely love to come back one day. Thank you for all!

Alright workawayers... I feel awful leaving a bad comment, but I wish someone had written something here before I arrived at the hostel :/ Staff is very friendly and the vibe of the hostel is really good... BUT they're facing real bedbug problems. So If you want to go there make sure you: 1. put all the stuff you won't need during your stay in sealed plastic bags before you get there 2. wash / dry all exposed other stuff once you leave

Lovely secluded & secure stay in the woods near Yuba river in Northern California. I truly enjoyed the cozy cabin provisioned with all the amenities & a fantastic fireplace to warm up during to cold days & evenings. Nik & Barbara are phenomenal WA hosts & their work assignments very very manageable. They also exhibit great interest in introducing their guests to the local culture & activities. All in all my stay was a lovely country life & nature experience hiking & trekking by the river canyon, living in the cabin & the exposure to Nik's machine shop equipment, his own fabricated jewelry collection & metal sculptures. Barbara was very generous in sharing the knowledge & the bounty of the farm. I truly recommend to any workawayer bound to the area not to pass on the opportunity to be hosted by Barbara & Nik

Being with the Jansens was one of the best experiences of my life, where I was able to deeply reflect about others and myself in a peaceful and nurturing environment. The whole family is very multifaceted and interesting, always willing to give a helping hand or to care about your needs. I stayed with them for one month and a half so that goes to tell how good of an experience it was. If you're looking for an enriching and nurturing experience, look no further! Brayden was such a lovely person to have around - interesting and interested in what's going on here. He helped to kick start our sauna project, worked on fencing to keep the dog in and helped renovate a bathroom and old kitchen. He was fun and happy to play with my young grandson and he gave me some good fitness advice. I wish him luck with his move to Japan.

Nika was about a week in our house. She came in the most bad rainy evening from trainstation very happy and full of energy. How ever the weather was in this week,Nika seemed happy and comfortable and went for rainy walks. She was always ready to help in dayly work, cleaning, cooking, tidy up. She was chopping wood with big effort .With Nika were good deep talks as naturally as funny talks .We hope Nika can find more experiences in workaway and can stay as easy going how she was in her actual life. Thank you so much Nika for the days you spend with us!

Boris and Sophie are super kind, relaxed, and fun people. We had many interesting conversations and there was a lot of laughter. The daily tasks in their beautiful garden were very nice and the working schedule was very flexible. They are amazing cooks and Boris would always turn up with the best pastries or desserts! Our studio was very comfortable and provided everything you need. The location is amazing as well with nice (surf) beaches, cafes, and restaurants. All in all, we had an amazing experience and would highly recommend Boris and Sophie as hosts!

If you come to Anza look for Rashed at the surf house Anza. Rashed is a very cool, young, rich and handsome host. If you want to come to surf, live for free, and just chill, this is the place for you. All the time he will make you laugh until your stomach hurts. He will tell you he doesn't need a volunteer 30 minutes before you arrive. And he will tell you to run the surf house on the second day. And tell you, you did a good job when you did nothing.

I had my first workaway experience at Karlos where I stayed 3 weeks. I enjoyed every bit of it. Karlos is the sweetest host you could ever ask for. He was always thoughtful and made me feel at home. You can really see from the way he explains things and share his knowledge on olive trees and olive oil that he is truly passionate about it. It was an honor being part of his sustainable growing olive land. I learned a lot by listening to him and by participation in the diverse tasks. I was weeding, gathering branches, fixing holes in the nets, painting, mapping. It was very rewarding. The rides to the land were always fun, and Karlos would always share funny stories or tell us about Cretan culture. He would always offer dropping us at the beach on our way back. Thank you for everything, I couldn't not have wished for a better first workaway experience :))

Bryce is certainly welcome back anytime. he is low-key and low drama. We appreciate time and effort that you put in. I recommend Bryce.

Stefano welcomed me into his home with open arms. I spent 3 very beautiful weeks at his place. During my time I helped in the garden, preparing for winter, I also painted a decorative mural in the house. He’s very helpful and always showed me the tasks, inputs in the painting and was open when I made mistakes. The area around the house is very beautiful, so close to nature gives an inner calm. We were always surrounded by cats and I really miss them and the dogs (especially Coffee my favorite cutest little cat)!! Stefano inspires me a lot, he is so full of ideas, there is always something to do. He’s energy is feeding mine, the plans for the house has no ending. Little hikes, lots of espresso and mushroom hunts! Also his cooking is THE best, this man made some of the best meals I ever had (especially the fresh pasta and pizza!). I had the room in the “basement”, very nice to have an own room where I had my private time. Also it’s a little fireplace so it keeps you warm and cozy. If you’re interested in sustainable living/ permaculture Stefano is your teacher (my guru), he knows a lot and is very happy to teach you. Thank you Stefano for everything, see you soon;) ☮️

Patricio y Mathilda son espectaculares: Cuidaron de nuestra casa, de los animales y nuestras plantas mientras estábamos de viaje durante dos semanas. Cuando volvimos encontramos todo el trabajo que hicieron con mucho detalle y calidad, entre otras cosas, pasear a los perros, trabajo de jardinería y cosecha de aceitunas. Nuestros animales estaban muy contentos con ellos y nosotros más por tener la libertad de viajar sin preocupaciones. Muchas gracias chicos y mucha suerte 🍀

What is there to say about this experience? I came to stay for 3 weeks in Belgium, and ended up leaving after 8 months!!! My time here far exceeded any expectations I had, and it were some of the best months of my life. As a collaboration between this place and the neighbouring farm of Klokhuis (7 km apart), the tasks across these projects involved maintaing the garden, caring for animals, processing food, DIY projects, and many many many other things! The farm collaborates closely with people from nearby villages, so I was able to experience local life and really feel that my work was part of something genuine and socially engaged. As if this was not enough, Ine, Dirk, Hazel, and Sienna were thoughtful and extraordinary people! There was a strong emphasis on addressing pressing contemporary issues and on actively learning how to create social and ecological improvements through practical, ethical and down-to-earth solutions guided by open-mindedness and critical thinking. From exploring degrowth to increasing reliance on local materials/food, I felt I gained an essential complement to what I learned through hands-on gardening - knowledge I don't think I could have found anywhere else. I feel grateful for having had the opportunity of staying at this marvellous place, which is also slowly turning into a meeting place where other Workawayers and I can gather together again in the future, since I am already feeling excited to coming back and visit when I have the chance!

My 6 week stay with Beata and John that passed way too quickly was a breath of fresh air, with honest communication, unbelievable dinners, and an all around warm and welcoming home environment. Czarny Las is enriched in wildlife with enormous oaks, birches, and evergreens that sing beautifully when the wind blows. John, Beata, and many of their wonderful friends are very knowledgeable about natural building and staying in the incredible house Beata designed gave me confidence that my cob home dreams are achievable and just around the corner. I was able to help with chinking the sauna building which was a lot of trial and error and in the end gave me a great sense of reward at the final results. I got to tag along on several exciting adventures, from a local festival abounding in Polish culture, trips to Warsaw’s art museums, all the way to the Belarus boarder for advice on natural chinking and to enjoy the company of some friends. John and Beata are magnificent cooks, you can truly taste the love and design in every bite, John might even let you go through and steal some recipes if you’re lucky and Beata’s hardy borscht recipe is one I can’t wait to share with my family. These are, hands down, two of the funniest, warmest people and it was such a privilege to live, work, cook, learn and laugh with them. Both were excellent teachers, very understanding and forgiving when I had my bozo moments. I could go on and on but words really can’t express how much this Workaway meant to me, thank you so much for everything, I hope to see y’all again soon!
