I had a wonderful experience with this school in Yukushima. I spent 3 weeks working in the farm. Everyone was nice and take good care of me, the work was not to intense, and they were super flexible. The accommodation was exceptionally good, and they also provide me with an electric bike. Finally the location is just amazing, and the people of Yakushima are lovely. To repeat!

This was an incredible first Workaway experience. The location is beautiful, surrounded by nature, and very relaxing. The volunteers' activities are varied and incredibly creative. There's a real sense of camaraderie among the volunteers, with whom I shared some unforgettable moments 😊

Staying with Jacopo was such an amazing experience and anyone looking to put in some work in exchange for natural beauty, meeting some awesome people, and experiencing a new lifestyle should absolutely reach out!!! There are a few things that I think sum up my experience: the people, the work, and the experience. I think the people were the most important part of my time on the farm. I stayed for two weeks but the kids and Francesca were at another Workaway the entire time, so I sadly didn't get to meet them. Jacopo, however, is hilarious. He is full of jokes and stories... and is an amazing cook. He has done so many things (from photography to acting to... starting a farm from scratch) and has had so many incredible experiences, like surfing on trains through the Sahara. He was intensely studying for a veterinary exam while his family was away, so he was very busy, but while working, sharing meals, or going to get gelato, getting to know Jacopo was one of my highlights. The bulk of my time was spent with one other volunteer, who was perfect to work with, and it was really neat to get to know another culture. We worked really well together, and it was wonderful to have someone else to spend time with when Jacopo was busy. As for the work, I worked from around 7:30-12:30 every weekday, with some exceptions depending on weather. I would let the goats out, clean their pen; pick vegetables (usually pleasant but potatoes were a bit more of a physical challenge since they're buried); sort the vegetables, clean potatoes, or some other task; and then sweep and mop the first floor of the house. We also helped cook lunch and dinner but Jacopo took charge, for good reason! The work varied but was typically not too physically demanding and was sometimes redundant. Generally, the work was enjoyable, and even if it was challenging, it was only for about 5 hours per day on the most beautiful place I’ve ever been. The final part I really appreciated is that Jacopo had a friend drive us to nearby hikes and adventures. He took us to a small stream with a bunch of waterfalls for a few hours, which was amazing. On a weekend, the same friend took us to the Dolomites for a day hike and on a driving tour of the mountains. These were also the activities we chose, but if you have other interests, I’m sure Jacopo will find other excursion to better match your preference. I think Jacopo would’ve joined us or taken us himself too, but he was just super busy studying. I also want to add that Belluno is a 20-minute bus ride from the farm and is pretty easily accessible, which I found helpful for some flexibility. One last thing is that while you should absolutely pick this Workaway, you might have to reach out a few months ahead of time. I initially contacted Francesca only two months before wanting to come and was only able to find a time that worked because another volunteer could no longer make it. This was my first time as a Workawayer, and I hope it won’t be my last. I wish I could have stayed longer, but I’m so glad I found this hidden treasure in Belluno. Definitely reach out! If anything, I’m under-exaggerating how great this opportunity is.

I’ve had the pleasure of spending a month at Leo’s Ranch, and it has been a wonderful experience. These have been beautiful days, surrounded by amazing and interesting people, and I’ve had the chance to discover new cultures through campfires, cultural meals, and tacos. The setting is gorgeous, you never get used to the beauty of the mountains watching over you from above. I’ve also really enjoyed the walks to the river; we were always surprised by bald eagles, salmon, and the deer living near the ranch :) And of course, Leo’s hilarious stories -but above all, his songs- are a real treasure. It’s been so special to sing together and share dinners in the best company imaginable. Seeing the buffalo up close was a unique and spectacular experience. I feel very lucky and grateful to have lived it. I’m very sad to leave, but I know that sooner or later I’ll return to the Ranch. Thank you, Leo, from the bottom of my heart.

Damn, that is one unique place! I’m so happy my first Workaway experience was here. I arrived here exactly when I needed it most, without even realizing it. I’m very grateful for the month I spent here, the special energy of this place has truly changed something inside me. Most of the time I did maintenance work, which was never too demanding. Even when extra work came up, we were happy to help for the greater good. I could organize my schedule freely, and everyone was super relaxed if I needed time off or my days changed. I really enjoyed working here, being part of a wonderful community of volunteers. We had amazing times together, not only while working but also traveling, exploring, surfing, eating (a lot), chatting, having coffee (a lot) and just chilling. Part of my job was feeding the animals, and I already miss the crazy little porquinhos sniffing around! I’ll also miss the place itself, the timeless peace, campfires in the evening, the music during the day and the silence at the nights. Also the delicious food, the fresh pomegranates from the garden, the ping-pong matches, big laughs, and deep conversations. Mateus is one of those rare people you never forget. He has a big heart, creative ideas, and a quirky sense of humor that makes you feel instantly comfortable. He’s attentive, empathetic, and genuinely caring, someone you can always turn to for help, advice, music, a good heart-to-heart chat, or even a restaurant recommendation (he takes his food advice very seriously:)) The other residents, Jessy, Éder, Darragh, Sofia, and David, are all amazing and valuable people, and I’m really happy I got to meet them. Whenever a problem came up, they all made sure to fix it right away. I’m taking with me so many nice memories, and I’m leaving with a heart full of experiences, aha moments, funny strories and gratitude. for the record I swear this isn’t just me being all sentimental, every word is real!:)) thank you for everything again!

Viola was a great asset to our farm! We very much appreciated her help and her lovely company! Viola is such an independent and knowledgeable person - as one seldom encounters. Due to her various travels and experiences on other farms, Viola could instantly help us with putting up fences for our livestock. She was always patient with our animals and she was always eager to help! Viola is also very ambitious and she found herself additional projects - she found "almost" tons of mushrooms and processed them in all different kinds of ways in the kitchen! These kind of projects were particularly well perceived by everyone ;) Despite these projects, Viola was so self-disciplined to still study every day for her university classes, which impressed us very much :) Thanks again for all the help, Viola! You're always welcome here :)

Alessio stayed with us for two weeks and was an absolute pleasure to host. He is intuitive, responsible, and respectful of the house rules. Always cooperative and ready to help whenever needed. His positive attitude and easygoing nature made him a wonderful addition to our place. We truly appreciate his contribution and wish him all the best in his next adventure. Highly recommended to any future hosts!

¡Muchas gracias! They welcomed me very kindly and warmly. The place was incredibly beautiful. The food was delicious — especially the bananas, milanesa, asado, eggs, cookies, popcorn, bread, and potatoes. Even though I didn’t understand Spanish very well, they always explained things clearly with gestures and patience. It was my first Workaway experience, and they helped me with everything. I learned a lot and spent wonderful days with them. Also, celebrating the kids’ birthdays together with the family was a very special memory for me. Thank you so much!

Wahhhh, I don’t even know where to start. After more than ten trips to Japan, this has been the most amazing experience I’ve ever had. Staying 17 days with the family was full of surprises—every single day. We connected so quickly and naturally that it truly felt like being part of a real family. Well… we are now! 🥰 I even love telling other guests that they’re my papa and mama. 😂 I adored playing with my little sister 👩🏻 and little brother 👶🏻—they’re just too kawaii! From now on, I really want to watch them grow up and become successful in their own lives. And chores? Super easy! I could clean the whole house while playing with Haru-kun and Chiaya-chan. Luckily I love cooking too, so I often made special dinners for everyone. Whenever new guests came, I had to introduce myself again and again, and it was always fun watching their reactions. Hamamatsu is probably my No.1 favorite place now. I’m really glad everyone there loved talking with me. We greeted each other every morning and night, every time someone left or came home, and before and after eating. It felt like such a healthy and warm environment. ✨ Will I come back again? Absolutely—every year, anytime I can. I want to eat more mikan, kaki, kuri, soba, and so much more. Thank you so much to the family… our story will definitely continue. ❤️

This was our first Workaway experience and we don't think anything could ever top our stay with James and David! There are not enough words to describe our incredible month in Provence, and we were devastated to have to leave so soon. It’s hard to believe this was work at all because we just felt as if we were spending the month with wonderful friends. James is passionate about his garden and always has a new project in mind which made for new and exciting work every day. We were able to be there for this year’s olive harvest and learned so much from that and so much more. He was eager to teach and work with us often, and was so generous, kind, patient, and communicative—setting standards early and seeing through his many lists! It was also a joy to spend time with David, who is an incredible cook and deeply knowledgeable and passionate about music, literature, opera, and film. They are two of the most intelligent, fun, charismatic, and creative people we have ever met. They introduced us to many of their friends and let us truly experience the provencal way of life. We have only been gone one week and are already planning our return to see James, David, Oscar, and Moss again! Thank you both again for welcoming us into the beautiful life you have made in Saint-Remy; we are so grateful. En familia, Cam & Ana

Jude and Jake (Jacob) were awesome workawayers. They stayed just over 2 weeks and were a huge help. Happy to take on tasks like collecting sticks and weeding along with some painting and other helpful things. Both easily left to their own devices and followed instructions happily. They were also great company! We enjoyed our dinners and sharing movie projects :) and playing cards too! A really lovely couple and we were glad to be a part of their big adventure!

Bethany was an absolute delight! Excellent communication pre-arrival. She quickly became a part of our life here on the farm... flexible with varied jobs from deep cleaning inside to organising my pantry & shampooing the carpet to outside jobs such as gardening and our lamb 'health' day. Always went the extra mile. Super tidy and respectful... a kind soul. Anyone who hosts Bethany will count the time a blessing!!!

I’m deeply grateful for the incredible welcome I received from Markus and for being offered so much more than I could have ever imagined. The warmth, openness, and genuine kindness of everyone created a space where honest conversations flowed naturally and personal growth happened almost every day. My stay here wasn’t always easy, but every challenge and every moment — even the difficult ones — enriched me in ways I didn’t expect. And this is what I consider to be a true experience. The work was enjoyable and fulfilling, mostly outdoors and surrounded by breathtaking mountains. It felt meaningful rather than demanding, and I appreciated the trust given to me in each task. One of the most beautiful parts of this experience was creating a sense of family with the people there — sharing meals, supporting one another, and spending peaceful afternoons together. Those moments of connection are something I will carry with me for a long time. I recommend visiting Dafins to anyone seeking a warm, authentic, and transformative Workaway experience. Thank you for everything!

We had an unforgettable time at Jenna and David’s wilderness homestead in September. Living off-grid in a cozy log cabin gave us a real taste of Alaskan life — peaceful, simple, and full of adventure. There were 6 adorable husky puppies plus the older dogs whom we were able to help with feeding, cleaning, walking through the forest often led by Celia their daughter which was one of my daughter’s favourite tasks. The puppy walks were such a joy! Jenna showed us some edible berries in the forest and Celia pointed out some moose tracks at the river edge and moose poo. We helped in the garden, picking berries and learning how to make jam, helping with home cooking, stacking firewood, and planting a few trees. We were lucky to be there just after they had caught some moose and were processing it — it was fascinating to see how the family prepares for winter. We got to taste moose and wild-caught salmon, which was such a treat. Our daughter Alannah loved spending time with Celia and Juniper — they played together from morning till night and learned so much from each other. We were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights and even went on a wonderful boat trip to an island and were lucky to see a beaver. We also saw some squirrels in the forest. Dry-cabin life was a new and rewarding experience, the only downside was not being able to stay longer! Thank you, Jenna and David, for sharing your home, your warmth, and your beautiful corner of Alaska with us.

We are so grateful that Eliana chose to come to our home and spend part of her summer with us. From the very beginning, she joined the rhythm of our family so naturally, and we always found such a beautiful flow together. She delighted us with the most delicious cakes and incredible homemade bread — I’m still so grateful for those precious recipes and all the love and time she put into preparing them. Her magic in the kitchen truly made us happy! Thank you, Eliana, for taking care of the kids, for joining us in our daily adventures, and also for finding your own moments to enjoy the gifts of the summer here on the island. We wish you to keep following your heart and to have the most beautiful journeys ahead. You’ll always have a place with us, and we hope to see you again someday!

We had such a wonderful Workaway experience with Anto! She truly illuminated our daily life with her vivid, sparkling, and loving nature. Her energy is contagious — always creating beautiful, joyful moments wherever she goes. Anto connected instantly with our kids; they absolutely adored her. She played with them endlessly, and she cooked for us every day — even preparing meals ahead of time on her days off! As a working mom of two, I can honestly say that having Anto with us felt like a little holiday. We had such a great flow together, supporting each other naturally and sharing many lovely moments. She’s incredibly inspiring, full of amazing stories and adventures, and at the same time, so chill and easygoing. Each of us enjoyed her company — the laughter, the lightness, and the fun of having so many languages floating around our table every day. I also admired how easily Anto adapted to every situation and always found the positive flow in it. Even when public transport made getting around tricky, she stayed cheerful — found a scooter, explored the island, and returned home glowing, sharing her discoveries and that radiant energy with us all. Anto brought so much joy, warmth, and sunshine into our family. We are deeply grateful for the time we shared and wholeheartedly recommend her to any future hosts. We wish her only the best adventures ahead — and truly hope our paths cross again! 💛 Thank you for your trust, your open heart and mind, your precious time and for choosing us. We miss you!

Anthea was such an angel for us, and we are deeply grateful that she chose to come to our home — supporting us, teaching our kids so many sweet things, and spending such loving, connected time with them, especially in the water. From the very first moment, we felt her grounded and joyful nature — that beautiful balance of softness and strength. She has an incredible capacity to hold space for children and to bring calm, supportive energy into the house. It was simply wonderful to have her with us. We feel very lucky and thankful for the time we shared together — living, laughing, and exploring the island. It was pure joy to see her happy here, discovering beautiful places and creating lovely memories along the way. Thank you, Anthea, from our whole hearts. We wish you all the best on your journey and hope to see you again — here on this beautiful island or somewhere else in the world. With love and gratitude, 💛 Our family

Our stay with Sarah and Nathan was truly an unforgettable experience. They are two amazing people with such a beautiful energy, always smiling, positive, and full of life. Their children are sweet and adorable; it’s absolutely impossible not to fall in love with them. Even their pets stole our hearts! From the very first moment, they made us feel like part of the family, offering us everything they could, and plenty of delicious food (they quickly realized we eat a lot!). We stayed in their brand-new tiny house, which we absolutely loved. It was cozy, comfortable, and had everything we needed, a truly special little home. We loved spending time with them, exploring the Northern Beaches of Sydney, walking through the bush and the national park, swimming and paddleboarding at nearby beaches, and admiring the local wildlife. Sharing coffees, stories, thoughts, and laughter with Sarah and Nathan was such a joy. We even worked out and went boating together, they’re genuinely kind, friendly, and down-to-earth people. Working with them was a real pleasure, communication was always clear, the environment relaxed, and the tasks enjoyable. They also supported us so much with our personal project of building a van, and even helped us find some local job opportunities. Communication was always clear, the work was enjoyable, and the atmosphere relaxed and positive. The whole community of Mackerel Beach is incredibly special and welcoming, everyone we met there made us feel at home right away. It’s a truly magical place surrounded by nature and beautiful people We can’t wait to come back and visit them again as soon as we can during our travels!
