I spent a week here and I had an amazing experience. The hosts were so kind and friendly, from Aruni who helped me organise the experience and made me feel welcomed since the first email, to Charaka who guided me through the garden, showed me what to do (and how to do it), to Aunty Melani who is an amazing cook and prepared for us daily meals straight from the garden (fresh coconut, homemade grapefruit marmelade, pineapple wine, fruits, veggies, curries, you name it!). I learnt a lot in just one week, not only about gardening but also how we can live in peace with nature and let our body and mind regenerate to feel a deep sense of gratitude and inner peace. The workload is manageble and different each day, from gardening and taking care of the plants and irrigation system, to help in the kitchen and with cleaning, to organise the chalet to enhance the guests experience and to help improving the social media profiles and interent presence. If you are looking for an authentic experience, look no further: easy access from the airport, tropical paradise, amazing hosts, and fresh and delicious food.

Jana and Sophie were absolutely amazing workawayers! They completed every task to a high standard, including gardening, walking the dog, housework, and playing with our baby. Jana had a magic touch when it came to getting her to sleep for daytime naps, which was such a relief after a few sleepless nights. They are both super organised, have great attention to detail, and completely transformed our backyard during their stay. We would love to have them back anytime they are in town.

I stayed at the English Club in August/September and had an incredible time! Firstly, Lily is an amazing host. Despite operating the guesthouse remotely, she is very organised and responsive to anything you'll need. She has even helped me since I left Hinase and I am so grateful to have met such a caring and helpful host! Thank you so much Lily <3 The work is very casual and relaxed, not difficult at all and easy to get done and enjoy the rest of your time around the beautiful Seto inland sea! The best part of this workaway though is the relationships you'll have the chance to develop. There are many opportunities to be social with the other workawayers and the community who come to the English club every week. They taught me so much about Japan, life in rural Okayama and how to show up as part of a community. It's a beautiful space and one of the most welcoming workaways I've done. I can't wait to visit again one day :)

I stayed with Putra and Maya for two weeks and honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the moment I arrived, everyone made me feel completely at home — there’s this natural warmth and ease in the way they live and work together. It never really felt like “volunteering,” more like being part of a small community that just gets on with things and enjoys life while doing it. Most of my time was spent creating their website, but there was always space to join in on whatever was happening around the guest houses. The atmosphere is super relaxed — surrounded by jungle, good food, and lots of laughter. Days just seem to flow here. What stood out most to me was how genuine and caring everyone is. There’s no rush, no stress, just people living simply and joyfully. I left feeling grounded, inspired, and really grateful for the whole experience. Would love to come back someday — this place (and the people) stay with you. I went on a couple of treks with Putra and his team whilst I was there and I would 100% recommend doing one! Their ethical jungle experience is like no other and you are so cared for and looked after.

Here in this farm I've been learning a lot about fruit trees. I discovered so much fruits that I never heard of before. Brian is doing a really good job in the farm to make it a proper fruits forest! That is the beginning so he need arms and motivated people to make this old coffee farm a paradis in the jungle. If you are looking to an unique experience in the Amazon, this is the place you are looking for. That is a very simple and easy lifestyle that will make you appreciate the simple things of being alive. You'll learn something for sure in there.

Consider yourself lucky, if you were chosen to spend time at Clare’s peaceful paradise. Clare is an awesome, smart, generous and hardest working woman. She chose 3 different workwayers and i think we made a great team. The work was often different tasks, which makes it more fun. Mostly gardening, usually you will do what you are good at, so its efficient, but you will also learn a Lot of new skills. The cooking schedule is working great, and lots of the ingridients are self-grown from the garden. The property and surroundings are very nice. Lil notice for us - the workawayers - dont take hosts’ time for granted. Thank you Clare, it was a pleasure to slow down a bit at your home, fingers crossed for all of your goals, you go girl 🌞

Marguerite is absolutely wonderful. She is attentive, caring, very easy to be around and live with, flexible, confident, and so polite. We have hosted Marguerite more than once (in Canada and Italy) and both times she provided great value to our family. We would 100% recommend and re-host Marguerite.

I was here for 2 months and I loved it! It is very comfortable with a great shower, composting toilets that work well, and a wonderful kitchen. They take good care not to leave standing water so the bugs are not bad at all. I was basically a maintenance guy, my jobs included raking leaves, watering plants, cleaning regularly, taking care of the two gatitos (my babies), cleaning the pool, and just general yard work. When Luis and Gerardo were there they would help direct me on more specialized projects. This place is well located, it is easy to get to Merida from the closest town. You just need to hitchhike to get to Cacalchen and then Busses and combis go to and fro Merida frequently. There is a moped that I could use to get to and fro Cacalchen to charge my phone and get good service, eat, or buy anything I needed. There is a spot at the adea where you get service, but there is no where to charge your phone. In an emergency you could use the generator. Luis and Gerardo were incredibly kind and welcoming and I had such a great experience. I felt very safe and respected. Thank you for everything! Would highly recommend this as a workaway. It was super easy for me to explore lots of places, I went to Uxmal, Chichen Itza, Cenotes, Izamal, and Dzibiltalchun. This is a great spot and I will always feel it is a second home to me.

Pora was a great experience! It was great to help out and rebuild after the hurricane that came through chacahua a few months ago. Super kind hosts and a beautiful place to be!

Mainly reception work in a very friendly hotel/hostel with an amazing garden, which was a great way to learn about the culture and everyday life in Costa Rica (many thanks, Mari, Maria and Kora). Turrialba is an interesting little town, quite centrally located but since public transport is very slow and irregular, patience is needed to go anywhere; even for traveling to San Jose, which is less than 60 kms away, you have to take 2 hours. Still very worthwhile working here though - everyone is very happy to explain, help and forgive when you make mistakes. Wonderful little place!

I stayed with Serena for 12 days just after I arrived in New Zealand and I couldn't have had a better way to start my journey! Serena made me feel at home straight away, and the working hours were very flexible so that I could have day trips to the surrounding islands. Serena would take me to the bus station and pick me up whenever I need. The garden is absolutely beautiful, and I got to learn about gardening, animal and New Zealand lifestyle. Serena is also a great cook, and we shared some recipes. I would happily stay there again!

My stay at Pure’s farm was one of the most enriching and remarkable volunteering and life experiences I’ve ever had. I already regret not staying longer to learn even more and to contribute to the daily activities. The farm is located about 10 km from Phayao, in a pristine area surrounded by nature. The accommodation is simple but comfortable, with a bed, power outlets, and a mosquito net. Every day brings something new to do and learn: from harvesting, building, and repairing tools to cutting bamboo and learning from Pure’s incredible knowledge about mushroom cultivation, Thai culture, and food. The meals are super nutritious and delicious, far beyond what I ever expected. I will never forget the wood carving workshop, the company of the other volunteers, and the time spent with Pure. You are such an incredible soul, and I feel truly grateful to have met you. Thank you for everything you’ve done for me. I’ll definitely be back one day. Gabri

Brian and Wolfie are two incredible people who are building an amazing project 😊 Brian was always very attentive to us and we felt supported from the first message; our musical jams were a lot of fun and the shared spaces were always very pleasant and fun. Wolfie is a very intelligent being and will teach you about many things; you can ask him anything you want about fruit trees. 🌿 We feel very grateful to have visited this place and enjoyed all its wonders. It's great to wake up in the morning to the sound of birds, having the best pineapple and bananas in the world for breakfast. It was a very important and revealing experience for us, because you really realize that the things you truly need to live are all given to you by nature; the rest are attachments, things that the system sells you as essential, but it's a lie. Using plants as toilet paper, seeing how all your natural waste returns to the earth and the cycle (as it should be), washing with lemon, taking baths in the river, you don't need anything else. You will actually get rid of many of your mental conditioning in this place, and it will be very useful for your life. Thanks for everything Brian and Wolfie, we hope to see the fruits of that edible paradise soon 😊💚

Amy! We don’t know where to start and we know we can’t thank enough to what she’s done even we write here. 😊 She is really flexible, open-minded, obviously hard working, so reliable, such a good baker and cooker, and just great! We really appreciate her big help not only in the fields but also in the kitchen(not only cook but also keep clean and tidy always!), and in taking care of the ducks, chicken and cats. It was such a great honor for us to live and work together with her for about 3months. Her original plan was one month to stay with us, but it ended up with three great enjoyable months! So she experienced almost all the stages of growing organic rice : germination, land preparation, planting, weeding, scaring the birds, harvesting, threshing, milling, and packaging. Yes, it is literally all the stages. As she was becoming a long-term volunteer as time passed, she learnt how to manage the water level and took initiative to work in the early morning before the workers come, and taught the other new volunteers about the work, about the farm and life on the farm. She is of course social and friendly, she is always good at talking and hanging out with other volunteers with harmony. As she is really curious about our culture, foods and religion, and really wanted to immerse herslef in it, she even did one month fasting too as she was here in Ramadan month. We calebrated Hari Raya(the celebration of the completion of fasting) together and visited our relatives and villagers’ house. Needless to say, she is really fast learner and good at picking the words, she learnt our language so quickly! That made her so much faster and easier to connect with the locals when we went to visit the relatives, and when she went to explore the village by herslef. Also, she often helped in the kitchen and learnt some malay foods that she keeps cooking even back in her place. As you can see, we need more space if we explain how much she helped us, but we hope you can see how great she is and you can rely on her. So, now we just hope you as the workaway hosts to welcome her to your amazing projects and enrich her travel while having such a great and meaningful time together. :D Thank you again for your help, for your great being, and for your expanded care to all the living beings on the farm. 😊We wish all the best to your current/future journey and to your beautiful life! Terima kasih and Jumpa lagi! Ajoi!

Mara! She is such a adaptable, flexible, hardworking and organized person! As she got here, we were in the bird scaring season. Just after she arrived at the farm, she already started to join scaring the birds and wasn’t afraid to walk inside the fields! (Usually we let the new volunteers rest first on their arrival date, at least half day though.) She woke up in the early morning, scared the birds with other volunteers, released the checken and ducks from the house, etc. Thanks to her and other volunteers’ hard working on scaring the birds, we could harvest a lot of rice without being eaten by the birds. We are happy that she came and stayed with us in the active season, so that she could experience many stages of growing organic rice. Also, she came back here again during her travel! We celebrated Hari Raya together. As she is appearently curious about our culture and is fast learner, she was able to speak malay and that made her much easier to connect with the locals and the visitors quickly. Of course, as she was/is a teacher back in her country, she is very good at playing and interact with the kids as well. If you(the workaway host) get a message from her, you are absolutely lucky! We are very sure that you can rely on her and you will have great time with her! Thank you for choosing our workaway project and for helping us in many ways from the fields to the kitchen! 😊 Terima kasih and Jumpa lagi! Makan makan!

Caro and Julien are just the kind of volunteers you want to meet. They are sweet, kind, resourceful, reliable, caring, hardworking, and fun people to be around. We highly recommend them in all of their future ventures. It was an absolute pleasure hosting them and we will missed them!
