Hosting Tash in our family farm has been great, she integrated in no time as part of the family, with her bright and witty humour and her simple and direct ways !!! She's become an extra aunt for our kids and has been especially precious with our 2-6 weeks old baby!!! She's very independant and organized with anything related to households and kids most of all, and already super skilled even with such a little baby !! We'd be so happy to host her again in the future, and we can't recommend her enough !

I spent 7.5 weeks here, and would’ve stayed longer, but my itchy feet told me it was time to hit the road. Nancy is a great host, very gracious, and always effusive and sincere with her gratitude and praise, which made it a really positive environment for everyone, both guests and volunteers. The finca is in a tiny Pueblo near the coast, south of Montanita, very peaceful, serene, a beautiful natural sanctuary. There was always something going on, from bonfires on the beach, excursions to local attractions, retreats at the center, never a dull moment, plus multiple places to just chillax on the property. I was fortunate to be here for a Buddhist retreat, where we got to plant a cutting from the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi tree, with a verifiable lineage dating directly back to the tree under which the Buddha attained enlightenment 2,600 YEARS ago. Was definitely not expecting to be a part of such an auspicious event, definitely once in a lifetime opportunity, and one of many highlights from my time there. There was also a professional chef on site, preparing meals every day. That alone makes it worth it to check out this workaway. In my time here, I did a lot of painting, landscaping, weeding, planting, maintaining plants and trees, basically anything that needed to be done. If you’re on the coast, and looking for an amazing volunteer or energy exchange gig, definitely check this place out.

🌟 Thank you, Theresa! We’re so grateful for everything you did for our students! You worked so hard — helping them organize their things, tidy their rooms, and speak English more confidently. You were always kind, patient, and full of energy. We really admire how you didn’t mind waking up early for our 6:30 classes! Your support and cheerful spirit made such a difference for everyone here. 💐

Even though I came in a real transition phase, this was amazing! This workaway is a unique pearl. You will collect unforgettable experiences, that's for sure. It is not the most ordered or comfort (zone) place, but isn't it for what we sign up in Workaway? It's about taking part, cultural exchange and simple life and peace. And of course some pirate sailing adventures ✌️

My girlfriend and I stayed at Mortens place for three weeks, and we had a really good time. Morten is a charming and easy-going personality. He constantly makes sure you feel comfortable, so the interaction never gets akward. He is fun loving, openminded and curious and seem to enjoy if you challenge his opinions. He might even adopt an odd opinion just for the fun of it, which is very entertaining. We helped painting a small house and some wooden beams for construction; taking up boats for the winter and building a conservatory on the balcony. We also burned down some piles of branches and looked after the house and animals while Mortens was away on a trip. The job was not hard at all. When working, Morten is always there and will do the heaviest and most difficult tasks himself, unless you stop him. We had plenty of food, actually too much, and cooking with him in the evening was easy, just plain everyday courses. He made waffles one evening, off course with brown cheese and jam, and he even baked a cake for my birthday! We really recommen Morten as workaway host and hope we can come back some time.

I stayed at The Hostel for 3 weeks and had a great experience! The work and schedule were fair and well-organized, and the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. Claas, the boss, was very accommodating and easy to communicate with. Overall, a good place to volunteer if you’re looking for a balanced mix of work, community, and free time!

Gaia was such a wonderful volunteer to have here! From the very beginning, communication with her was easy, honest, and lovely. She showed up with a big smile and an open heart — the perfect attitude for hostel life. She was super reliable and always available to help wherever needed, whether it was welcoming guests, assisting the cleaning team, cooking, or jumping in on last-minute tasks. Her positive energy made everyone around her feel comfortable and included. Gaia has that natural ability to connect with people — she made guests feel at home right away and was always inviting others to join adventures or shared meals. She also used her professional background to create a beautiful design for us, which we’re very grateful for! Gaia is open-minded, respectful, adventurous, and full of good vibes. We truly miss her here and hope to see her again — our doors will always be open for her in Puerto Viejo 💚

It was really nice to have Henrik and Trine at WorkAway here at Hitra. They did a fantastic job here when I was away on a trip. The great thing about Henrik and Trine is that you don't have to explain to them how to do things. They have great practical sense, these are the WorkAwayers that I like. It is a pleasure to work with you and socialize together. Welcome back whenever you want. Its a

Julia and Alex for excellent workers and great company. They did all the jobs I asked with a smile, we're excellent cooks and kept the place to organized and clean.. they took advantage of the things I have to offer here and really seem to have enjoyed themselves. They helped out with the turtle sanctuary and volunteered some time at the school and made some impact on the local children. They made for excellent company and I will miss them. Hoping they have a great time and they're further travels and they are welcome back here anytime. If they do apply for any other work awayers I would recommend them very highly.

Meri was an absolute pleasure to have around. I feel like we became good friends and she worked very hard. If she does do another work away anybody would be excited to have her visit with them. She was excellent and patient with my dogs, worked hard was a good cook and cleaned up and kept everything in order. I had two other work awayers here who were also wonderful. She played well with others and it was a great team with everybody here. She will always be welcome back. Rio Molly and Mac all miss her as well as Pepe.

Every Workaway experience is unique, and there were many things that made this one truly special But the biggest reason was Dawn. Dawn is the most amazing and kind host I’ve ever met. She treats all her volunteers like family (and I definitely consider myself part of ). If she can help you in any way, she always will, as long as you’re willing to give back with the same passion and energy she puts into her projects. My main work was at the dog shelter, which was incredibly fun. Being surrounded by all those puppies made every day joyful. In the afternoons, the volunteers would go surfing together, share lunch, and watch what I honestly believe are the most beautiful sunsets in all of Costa Rica. Dawn often joined us, and we shared many great conversations that I’ll always treasure. I felt deeply grateful for all the love and care I received from her and the whole family. I was always eager to give more of my time and effort because it never felt like a fair exchange; it was simply too good. Hope to see you all again soon! Pura Vida

I stay at Markus farm for almost a month. The experience was incredible for me, my first Workaway experience in Europe. I felt that i build connection with his family (kari, Simone and Fibe) troughout the days Which for me was the most valuable thing. We did different jobs together, mostly woodwork Which was the best ones... the Food was awsome, most from their garden. Simone, Which is a lady that helps them cocks very well and we eat Apfelstrudel a dozen times. For me, this was an immersive experience inside Bavarian farm culture. Thank you for having me, Markus!! if you ever stop in Brazil, call me!

It was our first Workaway experience, and what a wonderful discovery with you both! You were always so motivated and willing to help with everything — from gardening, the greenhouse, and milking goats and cows, to taking care of the animals, cooking, baking, helping with the kids, doing carpentry, building projects, and even giving us haircuts 😄. You were always positive and flexible, even when our organization wasn’t perfect as we’re still starting out with our farm project. We really appreciated your curiosity, involvement, and genuine interest in what we’re building. We couldn’t have asked for better people to start this adventure with — you’re hardworking, dynamic, and eager to learn. We wish you all the very best for your next experiences and future projects!

I stayed at the Abbey for 3 weeks, and i can honestly say, that it was such and inspiring and beautiful experience. The brothers and sisters are welcoming and open to share their religious insights, their life journeys, and ofc help to improve your french. I learned a lot, and I am more than grateful for the time I spent at the Abbey. Thank you to everyone who made that possible.

I had an amazing experience volunteering at Mayoor's farm! I learned the basics of farming and got to see the entire process of making chocolates from scratch. Mayoor's passion for sustainable farming and chocolate-making was evident. I also enjoyed learning about the fermenting process of cacao and the process of making cheese. A big thank you to Mukuntha for coordinating everything and being so welcoming to all the volunteers. You're both doing great work.

Hui was a wonderful addition to our household. She is easygoing and has a good sense of humour. She was very willing to accomplish whatever we asked of her and cooked us some great meals (though “a little bit” spicy ). We enjoyed learning more about her way of life in China. It was a great exchange and we are grateful to her for her help

I had four great Workaway weeks in Recke. I was mostly in contact with Malte - and a bit with his wife and his brother's family. Everybody treated me and the other Workawayers kindly, and the communication was always helpful and clear. My tasks ranged from helping in the garden to working with clay, and many other things. It was a busy time with a lot of things going on for renovating a part of the house. Malte always made sure that the tasks are OK for me and actively encouraged me and the other Workawayer to let him now if we would like to help with something else. The first two weeks I stayed in a room that was soon to be renovated - and the last two weeks I spent in the wonderful guest room, which even has its own kitchen, books and a very nice and cosy atmosphere! Besides, we (Malte + the Workawayers) always met in the morning to talk about the day's tasks, had lunch together - and sometimes dinner as well. We had a great pizza evening too (with an impressive pizza oven!), as well as a visit to the sauna. During my 4 weeks there were several other Workaways I interacted and spent time with - and I got along very well with them. On a personal level, Malte is an amazing, kind, and intelligent man, who has a lot of life experience and wisdom, even though he's still quite young (at least from my perspective ;-) I highly recommend doing a Workaway with Malte and the others.

I stayed with Emine for just under 3 weeks and really enjoyed my time there. The farm is a great place to rest and switch off which can be much needed when travelling. The type of work depends on the weather and the season, but is mostly practical outdoor tasks such as weeding, planting, and harvesting. Walking and feeding the dogs is included in the daily work, and all of them are super friendly, affectionate and a lot of fun to be around. The hours are very fair, not exceeding more than 5 a day with 2 days per week totally off. There is a good variety of things to do in the area. The sea is a short walk from the farm and when you find the bit with no sea grass is gorgeous to swim in! Theres good public transport nearby which can take you to places such as Urla, Cesme and Izmir which are all great days out. There was a lovely group of other volunteers there with me and we had some great experiences. The accommodation is very comfortable, and is separate to the main house so you have your own space, sharing bathrooms with the other volunteers. All meals are cooked by Emine and served in her kitchen. She’s a really good cook and offers a great variety of dishes with big portions so you’ll never be hungry! Emine is an amazing host, she really looks after you while also giving you plenty of independence. She is very driven and hardworking which is inspiring to be around, and everything was communicated very clearly. I always looked forward to the shared meals where we would talk as a group and learn about the world from each other - Emine is a great storyteller and is very interested in hearing about all the volunteers culture and experiences. If you love being outdoors and doing satisfying practical work, and are happy to have space and time to yourself while also connecting with great people then Emine’s farm is perfect. I would definitely recommend this workaway experience and would love to visit again one day.

Valeria and Luca stayed with me for a few days, and it was such a lovely time. They helped me teach English and Art and were always cheerful and positive. Both of them are easygoing, energetic, and full of positive vibes. I really appreciated their kindness and willingness to help. We had great conversations and lots of laughter together. Luca’s pasta was absolutely delicious. Thank you so much for coming to help, and I wish you both a wonderful journey ahead! 🌍✨
