I cannot fully describe the pure joy is got from volunteering here. They treat you as part of their family, are more than generous, and teach you so much! The work is not hard, and is splendid working with the animals and doing small tasks and chores, and then going and swimming in the river after or playing badminton. Whether you like farming, birdwatching, swimming, going on walks, cool bugs and lizards, learning more about gardening, farming, and plant care, or just need some time away from cities, this amazing family are truly some of the kindest people I have met in the entire world. I would suggest this place to anyone from anywhere. they made sure I got to try lots of local foods and taught me about local wildlife and gardening, it was amazing. A very supportive environment. I would go back in an instant. Thank you for everything!

I spent approximately 3 weeks at Jan & Lisan’s place looking after their cats and house and I couldn’t have wished for a better time. Jan and Lisan are very welcoming and kind people and I feel like we connected immediately even though we only really spent a short time together since they went on vacation shortly after I arrived. They both showed me around the house and garden and instructed me about what to do while they are gone and Lisan gave me lots of recommendations for me about what to do in the area. Of course the area is really rural but to me this was perfect since it allowed me to go swimming and hiking and just live in the moment. I was also lucky to be able to drive their car so I got to explore the beautiful area as well. My highlight of course were the cats, who I connected to deeply and had lots of cuddles with. We also stayed in touch for the whole time and Lisan was always there to help or give me a recommendation for something . My time at their place really made me fall in love with Sweden and I felt deeply relaxed when I came home. I highly recommend them!

We loved having Kestrel & Rowan (Allyson) in our home & wished they could have stayed longer. They were clean, respectful, competent & best of all great with our kids. They were keen to help and had the initiative & intelligence to see what needed doing and jump in & get it done. They were good company & good fun.

Paty is a very nice person with a big heart and a good sense of humour !! I recommend without any hesitations :)

Staying with Judith and Oliver was truly an amazing and heartwarming experience — I’ve never felt so welcomed and at home while traveling. From the very first day, they made me feel like part of the family, and I got to meet so many wonderful relatives and friends during my stay. We shared great conversations, lots of laughs, and I really enjoyed practicing English with Judith — she’s such a kind, open, and thoughtful person. Oliver is equally warm and genuine, and together they create such a caring, relaxed atmosphere. The “work” didn’t even feel like work at all — just helping with a bit of cooking and food serving while enjoying being part of their lovely home. They’re both inspiring — balancing family, work, and daily life with so much grace and humor. I left with a full heart and the feeling that I gained not just hosts, but real friends. If it were up to me, I would’ve stayed much longer — and I’d love to come back one day! 💛 — Greta

Ami stayed with us for five weeks at the Studio and Garden. She was a friendly, delightful volunteer with a genuine love for animals and all living creatures. Ami rescued a baby bird and cared for him, helped a bee that was drowning in our swimming pool, and showed great affection to my dogs. Ami mainly helped with gardening tasks such as weeding and raking, and also kindly dog-sat for us. She worked well both independently and with other volunteers, forming lovely friendships along the way. I wish Ami all the best in her future adventures and highly recommend her to other hosts and future employers.

Andrea et Nicky sont des hôtes incroyables, ce sont devenus des amis et cela a été difficile de les quitter. Ils m'ont appris plein de choses, patiemment et sans jugement. J'ai partagé des moments incroyables avec eux et on a beaucoup beaucoup ri. Andrea a une énergie solaire et motivante, elle a milles idées dans la tête et est très créative. Nicky est une énergie calme et a une encyclopédie dans la tête, il est très curieux et les débats avec lui sont très nourrissants. Merci à vous deux de m'avoir ouvert les portes de chez vous mais aussi de ma première expérience workaway. 💛

Staying with Jasmin and Thomas was such a lovely and peaceful experience. Their home felt like a cozy pause in the middle of my travels — surrounded by nature, music, and a welcoming atmosphere that instantly makes you feel comfortable. I really enjoyed working alongside them and being part of their project in renovation . Personally, one of the best experiences of my life. Hostels located practically in the middle of the jungle and close to many beaches, waterfalls and tourist attractions. It is very well connected to Manuel Antonio and Quepos, and further afield to San Isidro and Dominical (where there are other famous beaches and waterfalls). To get there from San Jose, just take a direct bus to Quepos with the Tracopa company for about £10. There are two facilities (which also has a swimming pool). Depending on the season and your needs, you will find yourself working and/or sleeping in one or both of them. The staff are super welcoming, friendly and helpful with any request. I immediately established a good relationship with everyone and for me it was like living in a big family. I felt at home even thousands of miles away from home. The breakfast is very good and all the necessary food is provided. The work involved reception and hospitality, laundry and some bed making in the rooms. I had the opportunity to see most of Costa Rica's famous animals just by staying at the hostel (sloths, toucans, parrots, frogs, agoutis, raccoons, monkeys, etc.). If you feel like waking up at 5 a.m. to go bird/animal watching from the main hostel, it will be incredible! If you have any doubts about which experience to choose, I hope this review will resolve them immediately. I would like to point out that I wrote this review after visiting practically every tourist area on the Costa and seeing many hostels and how they were organised with volunteers.

Helena stayed with us at the Studio and Garden for about four weeks. She was a polite, cheerful volunteer with a beautiful heart and a genuine love for flowers. She created stunning flower arrangements using blooms from our gardens and worked diligently on weeding and planting. During our open garden weekend, Helena helped in the kitchen, making barista coffee, handling cash and card payments, and taking orders. She worked well both independently and as part of a team, getting along wonderfully with other young volunteers and forming lasting friendships. I wish her all the best in her future adventures and highly recommend Helena to other hosts and future employers.

Nosotras estuvimos con Constanza 10 días. Hubo muchas cosas buenas: trabajo entretenido, un entorno tranquilo, buenas vistas, alejado de la ciudad, ella es muy simpática y paciente para explicar las tareas que no domines, y se nota que quiere que estés cómodo. Muy hospitalaria. Nos hubiese gustado una mejor comunicación y planificación en momentos puntuales, a la hora de plantear las jornadas, pues hubo días en que nos enterabamos de que no se trabajaba el propio día por la mañana, y esto nos dejaba con poco margen de tiempo para organizar algún otro plan y aprovechar al máximo el día. Dormimos en carpa dentro de la casa (en proceso de construcción por lo que hay bastante polvo y arena y no mucho espacio para dejar tus cosas). En general fue una muy bonita y novedosa experiencia, la disfrutamos y aprendimos mucho!!!

We loved having Linda staying with us! She is such a sweet girl, so kind, so considerate. My kids and I felt at ease with her immediately, and she did such a good job tidying and organising my mess of a house. The week passed too fast - I wish she could have stayed for a looong time, and wish her all the best on her exciting solo journey :) <3

Our time at the hostel was incredible. Our coworkers made our experience another level, we had such a great time having conversations with them all the time. Aaron is such a generous and nice person thank you so much for all! The working was very fair and hostel location is in the heart of everything so you can easily access to the main attractions. The hostel is so cozy and chill, beds are sooo comfortable and private with the curtains. Wifi is very good, we had a barbecue at the terrace and enjoy the view most of the nights. Couldn't recommend more to do volunteering here!

I’m so happy to be here, the hostel team and volunteers have been so awesome, couldn’t imagine a better experience. Actually, a friend of mine showed me this place, and I said - one day I’ll come here. And two years later I’ve done it - zero regrets, such splendid memories for all my life. Elia was the perfect person to have here, especially after having here two workawayers who almost killed my dogs. He listened to the rules and the dogs loved him, they are the best judges of human personality. I wish I had more time to show him around and communicate more, but I need to work and make money to feed 23 rotties. Thank you very much for the help, Elia, you are welcome here anytime, and I warmly reccomand you to anyone.

Jesse worked for three weeks as a farmhand on our olivegarden and during this time became familiar with the olive harvest as a new area of ​​work. His tasks included laying out the nets, working carefully between the trees, stripping the olives from the trees by hand and with abbacchiatore with care and collecting and gathering them in boxes. He also prepared the meadows under the olive trees. In addition, he actively assisted with forest and tree maintenance, cleaning up and burning tree trimmings, and preparing and planting new seedlings. He quickly and diligently familiarized himself with the various tasks and demonstrated a strong sense of responsibility in handling tools, equipment, and nature. Jesse displayed an open personality, good manners, and a keen interest in the people, the culture, and the surroundings. He was also consistently friendly, helpful, and reliable in his interactions with family and friends. His positive attitude, enthusiasm for his work, and social skills made working with him particularly pleasant. Jesse discovered that in order to deliver the required harvest quantity to the mill within the designated timeframe, working hours had to be adjusted flexibly after prior mutual agreement. In this way, we were able to offer a healthy work-life balance. Also for his creative cooking when there was time left. We thank Jesse for his dedication and wish him all the best for his future endeavors.

My stay was fantastic, it's a beautiful property, and the people make it special. Palak is a wonderful host, always helpful and very kind. I had a great time taking photos and videos and helping on the farm. The farm is very peaceful and three meals are provided daily. I had the opportunity to visit the owner's company and foundation, where I got to see how sugarcane byproduct is turned into paper products. I got to take photos and videos for the foundation's schools, so I had a great time interacting with the students and employees. While I was on the farm, the owner, Ved, was there for a few days as well and took me into Ayodhya city to eat the best street food I've had in all of India, Mahaveer's Aloo Tikkiya. Overall it was a great adventure and the farm is a peaceful retreat, after staying for around 2 weeks it felt much like home away from home and I was sad to leave. For sensitive stomachs, the food that is served is very clean, and the water is clean and safe for foreigners. I recommend this place to anyone wanting a peaceful stay near Ayodhya but out of the city. The farm is is a great way to meet people and make friends. It was an amazing experience. Siri is a wonderful person and she really cares about showing her city. She took us to discover temples that weren’t even on Google Maps, let us try pad thai in a real local restaurant and some delicious sweets, and she’s always ready to help. Working with the children was a lot of fun Siri helps us volunteers understand what to do with them. We felt like we were at home.

I spent a wonderful week with Tuva and her children and couldn't have felt more welcome. From day one, they went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and at home. I had my own little house and could easily get to the city center at any time. The work mainly consisted of cleaning tasks, which were straightforward and easy to manage. Tuva and her children are such warm and genuine people that I really enjoyed my stay. Thank you for everything, it was a great experience!
