Thanks to Monika and everyone around her. She was my first host, and she and the people around her were really kind. She often talked with me, even though my English is not very good. Her cooking was really delicious, and I always looked forward to eating it. She also took me to many different places. I had truly wonderful experiences and enjoyed every day. I just recently wrapped up my Workaway experience with Wanda and Brent and I have nothing but good things to say. I worked with Brent in the garden repairing garden beds or steps, mulching and moving compost. The work was not a walk in the park but it was also not extremely hard and it was always satisfying to see our progress at the end of the day. Wanda whipped up lunch and dinner which was always delicious and she introduced me to many vegetables (as a former picky eater!) . The garden is truly one of a kind and I loved being able to pick a strawberry to snack on. Wanda and Brent have much knowledge and advice and I loved conversing with them. Town is not far with the bus (you will need cash or a bee card to ride it) but often times I caught a ride into town with Wanda. Thank you for such a great experience!

My stay with Kristina, Yosuke, and little Mei was just amazing! If you’re looking to meet truly lovely people who are not only super kind and make you feel welcome and at home, but also show you around Tokyo, this is the perfect place. The connection was there instantly and I am so grateful for the great conversations we had, it felt like meeting friends. I feel so lucky to have been able to stay with you, you made my first Workaway and my first time travelling Japan truly unforgettable. I spent most of my time with Kristina in Tokyo and got to see so many different and cool things. Shooting videos and speaking in front of the camera was a bit exciting at first, but it quickly started to feel natural and became really fun once I got used to it. I hope more people get to experience the amazing time with you that I had. Arigatō and спасибо <3

Sandra is a brave, inspiring mother with a heart of gold. This is not just an expression—it is what we truly felt during our three rewarding months with her and her wonderful daughter Ella. The highlight of our stay was that we made lifelong friends with Sandra, Martin, and Ella. We can never thank them enough for making us feel at home. We went apple picking together in October, and Sandra made us a delicious turkey for Thanksgiving. These moments of connection turned what could have been simply a work exchange into something deeply meaningful. Sandra's exceptional communication skills and openness to feedback made even the challenging parts of our stay memorable. She deeply respects her WorkAwayers' privacy while still being attentive to their needs (she even noticed we wanted a table for our room and helped us pick one up!). Caring for Ella taught us patience, consistency, and the importance of routine. She's a bright, energetic girl who is socially intelligent and full of life. She can be strong-willed and will test boundaries, so staying calm and firm is essential. She loves ball games, trampoline, swimming, and animations very much. We created detailed logs on Trello of her routines and favorite activities for Sandra to share our experience with future WorkAwayers. This experience enriched not only our caregiving skills but also our relationship with each other. Sandra is an authentic life coach who we learned how to live a better life from. Make sure to meet Grandma when you're there—you'll see where Sandra gets all that love!

Amber and Perry were my very first Workaway hosts, and they’ve set the bar way too high!! From our first messages to finally meeting in person, everything went incredibly smoothly. I feel so lucky to have spent September and October—the end of the season—helping out at their cozy guest ranch, surrounded by stunning scenery and often visited by local wildlife. The mountain view from the windows every day truly felt like a fairytale. The work was easy to learn, breakfasts were absolutely delicious, and there was always plenty of coffee, tea, and food to enjoy! Several forest trails start right next to the ranch—perfect for exploring. Amber and Perry always made sure we had something fun to do on our days off, like going horseback riding or hiking in nearby parks and trails. During my two months there, we visited Jasper three times and often went to Hinton for essentials. When the ranch was quieter, Amber kindly arranged three days off for me so I could travel along the breathtaking Icefields Parkway between Jasper and Banff. Everything about this experience was perfect—the guests were friendly and generous, the place was beautiful, and Amber& Perry were easygoing, wise, and full of fun. And of course, my amazing friends Julia and Kacper, whom I met at the ranch—they were truly one of the best parts of my time in Canada. Spending two months at this ranch was one of the best decisions I made this year. If you’re a hard worker who genuinely enjoys helping out and wants to take a break from city life, this place should definitely be at the top of your list. You’ll get to live surrounded by breathtaking mountain views.

Gracias!

My stay with Marlise and Kurt made my trip so much more beautiful! They give you such a warm welcome and you are a part of the family from day one. And wherever I needed help, they were there. I helped them by painting the gate and trimming the palmtrees, we made some craftworks for the garden, and walked the little Zuma twice a day. I learned so many new things! Thank you for everything! Hakuna Matata :-)

Marta and Peter’s farm is a true paradise. We spent two months there, and it’s a memory we will cherish forever. The place is simply idyllic, nestled between the ocean, the mountains, the animals, and the trees. Marta and Peter are deeply kind and soulful people, full of fascinating stories about their life journey. Listening to them made us realize just how precious life is. We also met some wonderful people thanks to them. The little cabin where we stayed was lovely. We enjoyed the most beautiful sunrises with Mount Becker in the background to start our workdays, cooking delicious meals, and savoring the present moment. The tasks were not very difficult, most of them involved gardening, such as weeding or picking fruits. It was truly a joy to eat so many fresh fruits straight from the garden. Marta also invited us to several typical Canadian events, such as Thanksgiving. Vancouver Island itself is an absolute gem to explore whether on foot, by bike, or by car, every place has something unique to offer. We didn’t have a car but managed to see a lot by biking and walking. Still, we would recommend renting a car from time to time to make daily life easier especially for laundry, which was nearly an hour and a half away by public transport, the only small downside of our adventure. Living this farm lifestyle was a deeply enriching experience calming for the mind and a reminder to fully enjoy every moment. A huge thank you to Marta and Peter for their warm welcome, their trust, and their kindness throughout our stay. We learned so much from you, and this experience has definitely left a lasting mark on the way we see life. We truly hope to return one day to your island and your farm, and we wish you all the best !

My time here was full of energy, creativity, and good vibes. It was a busy period at the school, but in the best possible way, and I honestly loved it. Chris is a very special person and a great one to work with. He’s funny, passionate, full of ideas, and always on the move. He gave me a lot of trust and freedom while offering honest feedback, which I really appreciated. You always know where you stand, and it’s easy to share thoughts and find solutions together. He also has a great sense of design and aesthetics, which made it really enjoyable to exchange ideas and work on creative projects. I also loved our conversations after work, sitting together and talking about life. The school itself is such an inspiring place. The teachers I had, Zaida and Karina, were simply wonderful. They are patient, kind, and you can truly feel that they love what they do. The whole team was warm, welcoming, and always ready to help. Yenifer, one of the directors, was incredibly friendly and supportive even with so much to manage. Dani did an amazing job at the reception, and Yami was like the good soul always around, keeping the place bright and positive. I can’t name everyone, even though each of them deserves it. As a Spanish student, the lessons and immersive environment helped me improve so much, and learning in that setting was a real pleasure. My homestay was lively and full of warmth. It was a big Costa Rican family just a few minutes from the school, and they made me feel welcome from the first moment. We shared meals, football matches, and lots of cultural moments together. The food was delicious, and even though the house was busy, I always felt comfortable, respected, and part of the family. All in all, it was an unforgettable and truly life-changing experience. I’m really grateful for the trust, the great talks, and the time I got to spend with everyone there. Thank you, Chris, and thank you to the whole team. Pura Vida, and I hope to see you again soon.

We had the opportunity to spend three peaceful and pleasant weeks at Laura’s place. During our stay, we didn’t meet Laura in person, but we kept in touch over the phone — which made us appreciate even more the trust she placed in us to stay at her home. Laura regulary checked in with us to see how we are doing, if everything was OK and whether we need anything. It was very kind of her. We met her son Ronald, who was very kind, friendly, and always ready to help. Our main responsibility was to take care of four dogs — feeding them and walking them on the beach every morning and evening. We also helped clean the beach, collected trash, burned driftwood, and mowed the grass around the house. We had groceries provided for cooking our lunches and stayed in one of the small cabins. Laura also has a volunteer room equipped with a bunk bed and an additional single bed. The internet connection is fast and reliable. The bathroom for volunteers (shower + toilet) is located in a separate small building in the garden. The kitchen is simple but well-equipped for basic cooking, so we had everything we needed. The location is very peaceful — the nearest shop is about 2 km away.

My short stay at Grace’s place was wonderful! I really enjoyed the peaceful and rewarding tasks Grace asked me to help with. My favorite part was working alongside Grace in the garden and learning from her. Together, we mulched the garden beds, weeded, and painted. I also trimmed banana tree leaves and planted some flowers. Grace was kind and accommodating, providing the food I asked for and making sure I felt comfortable. The accommodation was perfect for a relaxing stay. The cabin was simple, quiet, and surrounded by nature. I truly appreciated my time at Grace’s and would happily recommend this experience to anyone who enjoys a calm environment and meaningful garden work.

I loved my stay with Haley and Wagner who were always welcoming and friendly. Haley is a wonderful person whom I like to call an angel because she literally saves the lives of many animals, including dogs, cats, pigs, goats, cows. She genuinely loves and takes good care of them. And of course, I fell in love with the animals who are all so cute, well-behaved, and just want to be loved. Work is simple, which is taking care of animals such as feeding, cleaning, walking, which actually didn't feel like work for me much because I loved spending time with them, and all the cuddles. I stayed in the guest house which was quite comfortable with everything I needed, including private bathroom and kitchen. The place is in a beautiful natural surrounding with incredible views and close to the beach. I feel lucky to have met Haley, Wagner, and all the adorable animals and been a part of this meaningful and rewarding experience of rescuing and loving animals.

I stayed with the Hostel for 3 weeks, and had an awesome time from the start to the end. As volunteer you play an essential role in the daily activities of the place, and it feels nice to get an insight like that. I was able to learn a lot for myself, met some awesome guests and volunteers, and for 3 weeks was surrounded by a family like community of friends. Also Cali offers so much to enjoy as a Volunteer in the City! Highly recommend!

Merci! Merci! Merci!

Staying with Charlie and Mo for almost two weeks was the best thing that could happen to me for my first workaway experience. They are incredibly helpful and warm-hearted people who made me feel welcome from the very first day. Charlie and Mo are not only amazing hosts but also excellent cooks and great conversationalists. I really enjoyed having dinner with the whole family, talking, playing a game or watching a show afterwards. I especially loved the beautiful walks we took with the dog Tui, including evening walks along the beach. The caravan I stayed in was very sweetly decorated and provided a perfect little retreat when I wanted some quiet time. The atmosphere in their home is ideal for anyone who wants a calm and relaxing stay surrounded by beautiful nature, which can easily be explored on foot or by bus. The tasks were always fair and the communication was easy and clear. Charlie and Mo truly treated me like part of the family — they even celebrated my birthday with me and baked a traditional cake, which meant a lot to me. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience, thank you!

My stay at Brisa Bahía was absolutely amazing in every way. It was a truly impactful experience. Kary and Nhung are incredible hosts, caring, generous, and just really great people to talk to. It was a pleasure to contribute to such a beautiful and remote place surrounded by nature. Playa Aguacate and the whole coast are some of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. The local team, mostly Colombians, made the experience even better. They are warm, easygoing, and always up for a laugh or ready to help. Even though my Spanish was not very good at the time, we still managed to communicate, and when you can connect without even sharing the same language, it feels special. They were always supportive, and it is clear that Kary and Nhung put a lot of time and heart into building such a great team. The place now feels truly magical. If you get the chance to be part of this project, I can only recommend it. You will learn a lot, meet amazing people, and leave feeling inspired, reconnected, and full of new perspectives.

Giving five stars to this place & experience really doesn't do it enough justice. I came to Alice Springs and this hostel back in July after months of back and forth from both sides, the hostel was very patient with me and my plans, which I'm still incredibly grateful for to this date. Coming here as a volunteer is truly one of the best decisions I've made in my entire life. I ended up volunteering for 3 months in which I made friends that quickly became family. What you'll find at this hostel is not only fair people who are very supportive, whether it's in helping you get trained in various aspects of the hostel job or recommending places around town to apply for in order to get your visa days or make a bit of extra money, but also the most wonderful community right in the heart of the desert. I truly believe that can all be attributed to the amazing vibe that Seb & Miriam have curated here, which is passed down to the receptionists who manage day to day operations and eventually to the volunteers as well. It's like an infectious disease that catches up with everyone if you stay here long enough, and I mean that in the best possible way :) Even though I'm no longer a volunteer I'll be sticking around a little while longer because both the hostel and Alice Springs have touched a very special place in my heart, if you're on the fence about coming to this hostel and Alice Springs hopefully this review will give you the confirmation you need... but don't just take it from me, take it from all the other volunteers who have passed through here in the past couple of years as well ;)

Ellen! Our school community feels so lucky and grateful that you have decided to sped the last three weeks with us! Your energy and kindness made a true impact, especially in your engaging English lessons and lively dance classes. The joy you brought to the children's faces every day was infectious, creating unforgettable memories and helping them learn and grow with enthusiasm. We truly appreciate the time, dedication, and spirit you shared with our students!

I stayed 1 1/2 weeks at Belinda - she was really friendly and it was hurtful to leave all of them🥲 The work on the host is fair - I can only recommend it ✨
