Jaro came to stay with us with his partner Leonie and we had such a great time together! They are truly beautiful souls, we had lots of fun and good working time together. I would describe Jaro as a reliable helper, serious and talented! He did a wooden job for our little house and we really love it! He is also really responsible to take care about house duty and animals feeding. And a great entertainer by playing guitar too! We would definitely suggest Yaro and Leonie as helpers and we hope to host them again and much longer if possible;) take care my friends

Gustavo is an incredible person, truly a good soul. When I asked about his profession, he simply said, "a good person," and that’s exactly what he is. Always ready to help with whatever comes his way, he is cultured, kind, polite, friendly, and a true friend. Gustavo helped us with various tasks, particularly involving woodwork and organization. He’s also a big rock fan and has a Pearl Jam tattoo, which shows just how cool and passionate he is. He’s a very special person, and I highly recommend hosting him. You won’t regret it!

I already know that I cannot do justice to this Lithuanian Wonder Woman. But at least I’m going to try… I was greeted by an elegant lady in a beautiful, floaty dress, sporting immaculate, long nails… not usually the accessories of my helpers. So, to my shame, I was sceptical… for the first 5 seconds anyway, until she lifted her heavy suitcase ~ full of delicious goodies/gifts ~ as if it was made of air. Like Ginger Rogers, who did everything Fred Astaire did, but backwards and in heels, Kristina ~ with nails intact ~ absolutely transformed my unruly land in just a few days. Yet for the duration of her 3 week stay, I barely gave her any instruction or showed her where things are (so this tired host could truly relax). As such, I was very happy to leave her to it for a long weekend and go to a friend’s birthday in the UK. The cats, the house and the land were in amazing shape when I returned. When I say that she transformed things, I mean, she wielded a knife about the vast, neglected and daunting jungle and got out absolutely every single weed ~ from the tiniest sprout to those bigger than herself. Weeks later, 95% of them are still nowhere to be seen. That is a rare, rare skill. Her thorough and “holistic” approach (not a word I’ve used before when describing workawayers) meant that she not only obliterated the weeds, but also pruned, swept, straightened, rebuilt, re-potted and cleaned as she went. Thanks entirely to K, things here have never looked so good and the ‘land’ is now a thriving, beautiful ‘garden’. Elsewhere, she was also a delight to host. In addition to green-fingered wizardry, Kristina has one of the very best attitudes I’ve ever come across – low maintenance, genuinely helpful around the house, hardworking, not-clock-watching, no-nonsense, able to pre-empt everything that is needed, and able to do everything brilliantly that came her way. But above all, she’s an utterly wonderful person to spend time with. I dearly remember our evenings and weekend together, like two peas in a pod, quaffing apperitivi by the pool or snuggled on the sofa covered in cats, and chatting about anything and everything, or sitting and reading comfortably in silence together. We’ve become firm friends and message each other all the time now. I’m just counting down the days until she comes back. In conclusion, I’m so grateful that our paths crossed. She now firmly, and eternally, has a place in my home and my heart. I would give her a million stars if I could. A mere five is laughable. To any host reading this, if Kristina comes your way, you’ve won the lottery. That said, please let her keep walking towards Italy… I want to keep her all to myself!

Can you imagine the coolest of the cool guys? It's Jim, hands down. Or should we say, Jimbo, aka Big Zucchini, aka Sailor of the Seven Seas! Jim's arrival was as epic as his stay – arranged in 20 minutes, flight booked in 30! From the moment he landed, it was clear he was no ordinary volunteer. With just one day of training, he became the undisputed lord of the farm animals. Jim was consistently great, always ready to jump in, no matter the task. When he was our only volunteer, he seamlessly transitioned to caring for the dogs, even splitting his time between morning and afternoon shifts. But Jim's true devotion and enormous heart shone brightest with Toma. Without hesitation, he welcomed our terminally ill Toma into his room, providing comfort and care in his last days – a selfless act that few would undertake. He truly showed Toma that good people exist in this world. His kindness extended to the cats too, who also found a warm welcome in his room. Jim genuinely cared for everything and everyone. We were also thrilled to see his best buddy, Big Tobbs, get adopted, and Jim totally approved his new family. We'll always remember Jim's captivating sailor stories, his brilliant humor, and the incredible way he mastered Kukunješće on his very first attempt. On his last day, he even managed to snag some cool Croatian jeans and an even cooler t-shirt with boats for just 2 euro, looking even more stylish than usual. Jim, thank you so much for everything. We're already looking forward to seeing you in ten years with new tales from your adventures. Sail safe, Captain Jim!

I had an incredible experience with Jey and her family this summer. I stayed with them for one month and would highly recommend this family as a host. They were clear on communication with when I would be working for the week by giving me a estimate schedule for the week ahead and were very fair with hours worked and time off. It is a great location to explore Nice and the surrounding cities as well, which Jey gave many great recommendations of places to visit. The kids were very sweet and fun to take care of, and Jey and the whole family were respectful and kind. I had a great accommodation with my own room and felt comfortable in my designated space in their home. I highly recommend this family especially for a first workaway experience as this was my first workaway and made me excited to hopefully return and do more workaway in my future.

I spent 10 days in this beautiful place surrounded by mountains. Claudia and Elisa were very kind and helpful hosts. (They are good cooks!) Together with other workawayers, we repaired the road, cleaned the house, and worked in the vegetable garden... It was a nice time ♥

Once i read "be kind to strangers because they may be angels in disguise": this quote actually paraphrases one sentence in the Bible, but my experience with Hugo showed that it holds truth; I had a very urgent, last minute need for help with house/pet sitting, so i wrote to many many volunteers here, and he immediately answered my request with a message i received directly on my phone. We had smooth, simple and easy communication to organize his arrival, and I know that he did everything he could to come help as soon as possible. I had good conversation with Hugo about like experiences, he has an open mind, he is kind and willing to listen and share, and he has a thoughtful and caring attitude; I appreciated that he shared his cooking skills by making crepes and a special meal for the night i came back. Thank you, Hugo!

I spent 3 weeks with Lee's family and it was my first time experiencing rural life in Korea. The accommodation was comfortable and the host family is welcoming and generous. The food was great (I love Korean food). Some days the work can be quite physically demanding, but there are days of resting and low workload. Overall I would recommend staying here if you want to experience a Korean farm.

A truly exemplary workawayer. Christina took initiative, always worked hard, responsible, reliable, independent and adaptable. She cared for the farm as if it were her own. Christina always did what was asked of her and more. From the moment she set foot on the farm she started working in the garden and she was unstoppable! Brave, understanding and strong. Christina showed me what workaway could really be! She was caring and kind and knew how to communicate her boundaries and needs. She was respectful of the space and participated in activities and enjoyed outside of the farm too. Christina was flexible with the work that had to be done and even gave English lessons to the neighbours which was extremely appreciated. She always had the energy to work and was up and moving early every morning. She spent her free time wisely and magically finding rides back from her outings to the farm. She shared a lot of funny moments with the other workawayers and I too. Even though she couldn’t speak French, she spent time with and managed to communicate with my grandmother which was so sweet. It was always such a pleasure finding her in the morning watering the plants, or pruning the oleander or doing yoga on the rooftop. A stable force to have on the farm. I could fully rely on her when I was not around. She was also very loved by others on the farm. Christina, it was hard to say goodbye and you are always welcome here. You went beyond my expectations and will be missed by the roses and I. P.S I’ll practise my tennis for the next time too 😝

Andreea & Daniel stayed at our house for nearly four months whilst we were gone. We got the pleasure of spending a few days with them, they are very friendly, social and independent. I loved listening to Daniels music and Andreea had a great connection with my 5 year old that was so fun to see. Communication was easy. The house and animals (cats, dogs, chickens & rabbits) were super well loved and cared for, they even had 4 additional very cute kittens to care for and love in our absense. And they are also skilled and hardworking in other projects! They coordinated for someone to bring loads of gravel and spread it all on our very long road. They got a 2000 liter tank up a mountain and stable. They got materials, mowed and dug holes by hand for a lot of fence posts, for fencing 800m2 and connected the hardware cloth to make a beautiful sturdy fence. But also did their own repairs and other projects where they saw the need, like repairing a broken door in the yard and making an extra rabbit hutch. They managed well with limited or no water and electricity at times. I would recommend them as Workawayers and housesitters, and I hope they have lots of adventures, and we can do another campfire together one day!

I had a great experience staying with Sara! I stayed for about 3 weeks and usually I would help drop the kids off for day camp around 9 and pick them up at 1pm. I would also help with meals, or occasional cleaning but mainly I would spend time with the kids. We stayed in a small village that is accessible to other areas in the Dolomites by bus, and we would drive to Cortina each day. I appreciated Sara's clear communication, and felt we had no problems working together. Overall, I learned a lot, made some good memories, and enjoyed staying with a lovely family surrounded by beautiful mountains.

We had the most wonderful time of our lives staying with her. The meals she prepared were absolutely delicious—we were able to enjoy hearty and beautiful dishes every single day. We also spent unforgettable moments with her lovely neighbors, and those times truly made us feel happy from the bottom of our hearts. We completely fell in love with Haloze and Ptuj. She is truly a charming, kind, and loving person. Her constant positivity and active lifestyle taught us so much and deeply inspired us. We will never forget the time we spent here, nor the stunning scenery that surrounded us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. If you’re looking at Majda’s profile and thinking about making your life more meaningful—don’t hesitate. Work with her. You will discover new things, and maybe even find some answers you’ve been looking for.

I had an amazing experience staying with Phedra; it was truly the perfect introduction on Workaway, from the very beginning, she made me feel welcome and well cared for, she provided a warm atmosphere and friendly environment, and everyone I met was kind and open. Phedra gave clear instructions on how to get there, and she even picked me up when no bus was available. When I arrived, she explained everything about settling in and how to contribute to the work. What I appreciated most was her democratic and flexible approach she gave us the space and freedom to choose the tasks we felt most comfortable with. Overall, I couldn’t have asked for a better first Workaway experience. Thank you, Phedra, for your generosity, for the wonderful experience, and for creating such a welcoming space. I’d love to come back again someday!

I stayed with Bjarni during the 2025 cohort. Out of the numerous workaways I have done this is probably somewhere in the top three. Thanks to the balanced combination of good weather, light workload and good company this experience had been very enjoyable. As a host, Bjarni is very generous and caring. If you have a drivers license you are welcome to use his car whenever you like (unless he really needs it). He is a natural storyteller, and you can be sure to get the most out of it during dinner time, just mind you, it can turn into a political debate in a split second xD. You take turns cooking dinner and keeping the common areas tidy. You are more than likely to embark on an overnight adventure with Bjarni in one of the scenic spots in Iceland, and if he is unable to join, he will do everything in his power to ensure you a comfortable and safe journey - he'll even pack you a sheep head snack. In short, you will become a part of his family and create a family of your own. My experience wouldn't have been half as good if it weren't for the people that I met there, and with that the half of this review goes to my fellow companions - Alessandra, Edie, Enikö, Konsta, Laura, Theresa, Vanessa.
