Hannah and Emilia were two lovely girls we enjoyed hosting. They got along well with everyone including my daughter and were keen to learn and help out on the farm, great working in a team and also on their own. We recommend them to future hosts. Safe travels and thank you for your help 🙏

We had a great time with Filippo and Giulia!!! It was such a pleasure to host them, as they are super friendly, helpful, easygoing and spontaneous :) We loved to spend some time with them, talking and singing while enjoying their nice risotto or some pizza ;) And they helped us organize our garden, the result is amazing! Not to mention their two very sweet dogs who were nice company :) We'll keep great memories of this exchange and wish you good travels!

Elio is really a special guy: cute, nice and discreet. He knows how to keep the joke but also adapt naturally to changes of plans, always with a smile. He was kind and affectionate with the children, entering the hearts of our son and our whole family and group. A true artist: whenever he could he dedicated himself to his watercolours, with great passion. In the kitchen he proved to be creative and willing, giving us really delicious dishes! He gave us a great hand both in the field work and at home, especially with our son, with whom he created a beautiful bond. He is a young man who still has a lot to discover, but he has a great desire to do it, and this shows everything. We were sorry to spend so little time together... we really hope to meet again soon!

From volunteer to friend, what a journey! Everything you read in the comments about Sophia is true, she's an intuitive volunteer who was able to understand our project easily and knew exactly what we needed. On the community side she is someone who is proactive about brining groups together and takes joy from living in community. We would (and already have!) had her back in a heart beat! ❤️

Joanna stayed with us for just over a week and she was fantastic. We cut up, split, and stacked firewood, trimmed the odd tree, did general farm duties like moving cows and sheep, and tending to the chickens and ducks. We washed the guttering on the house and Joanna did a great job of stocktaking and cleaning in our kitchen as well as clearing weeds from around our pond. There was no job she would not try and for the last part of the stay, she worked in the rain to ensure the jobs were complete. Joanna is very diligent, intelligent, and easy to have around. I would recommend her.

My stay with Dirk was my very first Workaway experience. I originally planned to stay for four weeks, but ended up staying for five, which already says a lot about how much I enjoyed my time there. I had a truly wonderful experience and can highly recommend staying with him to anyone considering it. From the beginning, I felt warmly welcomed. Dirk is a genuinely kind, thoughtful, and considerate person who also has many valuable insights and wisdom to share. The work on the farm was very diverse, which made it quite enjoyable. It was especially nice to see the progress and development over time. I also learned a lot about gardening, permaculture and plant care, which I really appreciated. And of course, I got to taste many delicious oranges from the variety of amazing trees on the land! Together with the other Workawayer Lies (who stayed for about two weeks at the same time as me), we also took care of the incredibly sweet dogs and the cat while Dirk was away on holiday for 10 days. During that time, he kindly left us his car, which gave us the opportunity to explore more of Aljezur and the surrounding area. We visited beautiful beaches, attended a yoga class, and really enjoyed the freedom to discover the region. We also spent some lovely time cooking together, making jam from the nêsperas in the garden, preparing meals with fresh ingredients grown on the farm, and even trying our hand at making chocolate mousse. The daily walks with the dogs quickly became part of our routine and led us to some truly stunning paths and landscapes. With Yuachuma, Dirk has created something very special. The place feels like a small natural paradise, and it was a privilege to be part of it for a while. I enjoyed all the beautiful sunsets that I could watch from the little wooden cabin I stayed at. Thank you Dirk for the experience!

Wow what an amazing workaway. The work was super easy and I had the loads of time to explore Bergen. There is a bus stop right outside of the house that connects you to bigger city's. Jorunn and Martin were such lovely hosts. I felt truly welcomed. I got to try some traditional Norwegian food which tasted delicious!! I would 100% recommend this workaway to anyone visiting Norway.

I had a really on of the best experience with this Workaway. From the beginning, the communication was clear and friendly, The work was fair and mostly not so hard. I helped with daily things and sometimes with additional activities, which made the experience interesting and not repetitive. The host was respectful and gave enough free time to explore the area. I also had the chance to meet new people(particulary my hero Sven) and learn more about the local culture, and gardening Accommodation was comfortable, and overall I felt safe and appreciated during my stay. I would definitely recommend this place to other workawayers who are open-minded. Thank you Eraldo and Komal for the experience and have a good luck with your project.Ihope to come back soon

I had the absolute best workaway experience here. I had never heard of Koh Mak before I arrived. If you have the privilege of doing a workaway here, I 10/10 recommend. The work was so fulfilling and inspiring. The hours were fair. The exchange in general was very fair. The property is absolutely beautiful, quiet and the room is spacious. I cannot say enough good things about my stay. Between the inspiring work, beaches, walk -ability, truly everyday was magical. Thank you Kerstin!

Gab is FAB! Such an authentically open person. More honest and positive than the average human being. :D They would be the first to put up their hand to volunteer for any task and while doing said task would do it enthusiastically and with dedication to detail which usually ended in a great result. Gab would be a great asset to any team and really good fun to have around your place. If we could have kept them longer we would have and still missing the Gab energy months later.

The host Lisa was great, deserves the full 5 stars. I was there in Andrano from 9th April 2026 for a full month. Culinary benefits were exceptional & wld beat that served by any Mitchelin restaurant She operates in a way that any host should by allowing for flexibility & mutual discussion on all work to be completed The full experience with the other wa participants was very pleasant . So Linda is also good at selecting the best also Her active social inclusion both with her friends & students of english was delightful I would recommend Linda to all wa participants

Karen has got herself a piece of paradise tucked away from the sight of outsiders. Created all with her own dedication and hard work. Jobs around the house vary and feel very rewarding. To name a few of the bigger tasks, we got rid of a few 'widow makers', weeded the bush and moved a lot of soil to create a slope around the house. All while being constantly surrounded by a small group of happy wallabies Karen cares so deeply about. She is a great host, full of curiosity, great humor and indestructible energy. I feel inspired by her way of living and her work. Have fun at your upcoming world tour and I hope to see you again 🌎

I stayed with Cheng and her mum in late March, and this experience has been one of the most fulfilling of my life. This opportunity actually was one of the reasons why I came to KL in the first place. Working with the dogs has been something that I keep coming back to in my life and doing it with Cheng made me realize that I want to dedicate part of my life to animal care. Beyond the work itself, Cheng and her mum were incredibly kind and generous hosts. We spent evenings together watching films, shopping, exploring local vendors for snacks — they genuinely took wonderful care of me. The conversations with Cheng were a highlight, and I hope our paths cross again. I’m grateful for this experience and for the beautiful family and all the dogs I got to know — Chocolate, Maya, Dantart, Oscar, and Hailey. Thank you!!

She proved to be a reliable and independent workawayer. She took good care of the house, maintained cleanliness, and consistently fed the animals. She was punctual with her responsibilities and able to organize her work independently, requiring little supervision. She has a strong and direct personality, “…which makes her an interesting person.” I appreciate her help and wish her the best in her future experiences.

Olivia was here for 5 weeks but it definitely didn’t feel long enough. She is a really nice person and super fun to hang out with. I’ll never forget our ‘rave’ while we painted the upstairs at 11pm. Olivia loves to chat and that’s my favourite so we got along great. Olivia is cool with anything. She’s happy to join in with any job or activity. She was here when it seemed to be either snowing or -35 and she kept the animals fed and happy throughout all of it. We had no trouble at all with Olivia and she’s definitely welcome back any time.

Victoria was a wonderful and helpful guest. She is a very mature young woman who impressed us deeply with her understanding of people and how the world works. She helped us with a myriad of typical household chores, from cleaning inside to yard work outside. She is a careful listener who asked questions to be sure she understood what was needed, then went to work and got things done way faster than most--certainly faster than I could have! She was enormously helpful with filling and planting 2 new raised bed gardens, easily lifting buckets of dirt that I could barely drag. The corn patch, tomato patch, and both raised beds she planted are thriving! Bonus: she can cook!! She made the first fresh salsa I have ever actually loved! She was always happy to help in the kitchen before AND after dinner, which was very appreciated. Victoria has a bright future and we wish her all the best. In fact, we hope she comes back and brings a sibling or two!

I had a really meaningful experience staying with Julio. He was incredibly kind and flexible in welcoming me, even though I let him know in advance that I wouldn’t be able to stay for long, which I truly appreciated. From the moment I arrived, I felt very comfortable. We shared great conversations, exchanged perspectives, and connected in a very genuine way. It was inspiring to meet someone with such a positive energy and an open mindset. I was also happy to be able to help with some plumbing tasks, which is something I have experience in. Being able to contribute in a practical way made the experience even more rewarding for me. Even though my stay was brief, the quality of the time we shared was truly special. Julio is a wonderful person, and I feel grateful to have met him. I definitely leave with a sense of connection and appreciation.
